Question of the chapter: If she become immortal, what should she rule over? ( what powers or elements she would hold dominion over, what abilities would she be able to do, things to manipulate - like time or growth ,etc.)
Apollo's P.O.V.
I, along with some of others of my family, believed that it was time to find the perfect little girl for us. Not Aphrodite, or Hera, or Demeter. That'd be a horrible mistake on our part. Poseidon and Hermes decided they would tag along on my search. We have already stopped by quite a few orphanages so far with no luck. Hermes, as usual, found my suffering in this venture hilarious. "Hermes, c'mon. I want a girl who will be able to handle us. All of us. Besides, I like those with open minds, you should know this from the many millennia we've known each other brother." He just continued to snicker as Poseidon, our Uncle, rolled his eyes. "Just be glad it is us and not your father. We all know how he would be."
Hermes and I nodded. Our father would pick someone who would not have a problem opening her legs for anything or anyone with a willing cock. Someone who would be rebellious and just drive the rest of us up a damn wall. We arrived to the last orphanage that I would stop at for today. The plaque said it was called ' The Daughters of Our Lord' and that made Hermes almost burst in laughter. "Hermes, play nice with the mortals."
"I know Uncle, I know."
When we stepped in, cute little children were bustling around, either playing a game of tag or just running around to use up what seems like their endless supply of energy. I grinned as some children had almost bumped into us and looked up at sheepishly before apologizing and dashing off once more. I glanced around, searching for the matron of the orphanage and my eyes fell on a severe looking woman with hair in a tight bun and wearing a modest grey dress. She also had square framed glasses set on her crooked nose and a frown on her face. Beside her stood an angel.
She was a petite young girl, around 16 years of age, with short dark brown hair and wearing an off the shoulder, long sleeved olive sweater dress with black thigh highs. She also had on cute little grey booties on her dainty feet. She was clutching a small stuffed animal panda in her arms and looked overall perfect- absolutely breathtaking. She would be absolutely perfect for us and her height is absolutely adorable. A perfect little angel, just for us.
Poseidon and Hermes followed by gaze to the little angel and they became equally enamored by her. I heard Hermes vaguely whispering, "It's her." I nodded along with him as we headed over to the Matron. As we stepped closer and closer I got to hear our little angels voice. It was soft but had a slight husky tinge to it showing that she was nearing adulthood. "Pardon us. Ma'am, but are you the matron of this establishment?" The older woman turned her sharp gaze to me and seemed surprised to see me. The perfect being that would soon be ours to cherish looked up at us and gasped. Her hazel eyes were shiny and I knew I would look into them for eternity if she gave me the opportunity.
They were a beautiful mixture of blues, greens, and soft chocolate brown. They held such innocence and I knew that I was already wrapped around those delicate fingers of hers. "E-Excuse me, I will just be going now Headmistress." Poseidon seemed to have to hold himself back she started to walk down the hallway and I knew I was not the only one affected by her presence. The older woman nodded her head, "Yes I am. I am Madam Abigail. How may I assist you gentlemen?"
" I am in search for a young lady to adopt. I live with many of my male family members and we are seeking someone we can all take care of, guide, and cherish. We want a bright young lady and not a snobby one. We don't have tolerance for such girls, you see. Do you have anyone in mind for us?" She seemed clearly impressed by how much thought I have put into this and nodded her head approvingly. "Oh yes, I know just the child. She was just here, if you will follow me please." She started to lead us in the same direction our little angel went. "Her name is AnaMaria Santiago. She is sixteen years of age and a sophomore at the local high school. Most do not want to adopt someone her age, rarely have I ever had a child over ten be adopted."
"And her background information?"
" Her parents passed in a car wreck when she was ten. Due to that trauma she has developed depression and anxiety. The last time she was adopted, the family brought her back after a mere three months as they said they could not handle how she seems to be 'high maintenance' to them. The poor thing has all but given up at this point." I felt my heart shatter hearing my darlings painful past. If all goes to plan, she will never go through such pain or sorrow again. We would all make sure of that.
"Are you interested in meeting with her gentlemen?"
"Yes please."
"She will be in the library just beyond this door. I shall return in a few moment to see what your final verdict shall be." She walked off as we glanced at each other before opening the door to the library. The room was dimly lit with a crackling fire going. There were a few tables scattered throughout the room with books piled high. Around the last pile on the last table was a window seat with our little one perched, reading a book as thunder rumbled through the cloudy skies. She looked up as she heard us approach and blinked surprised to see us. "Hello there, what is your name?"
"Hello. I-I'm AnaMaria."
"Well AnaMaria, I would like to adopt you. How does that sound, hm?" She looked to us incredulously. "W-Why would you want me?" The heartbreak in her voice was palpable, just as the pain in her eyes was a s clear as day. Poseidon stepped forward at that moment, kneeling before her and taking a small hand in his. "Darling, we want to adopt you. You fit perfectly with what we seek. We want you." She blinked in awe at him, shocked by his words. Poseidon moved as I kneeled down as well. I took her soft, delicate hands in my large calloused ones as I looked up into her lovely eyes. "Will you let us? Will you give us the extreme honor and pleasure of being your family? Will you allow us the joy of taking care of you and cherishing you as you so deeply deserve?" I maintained eye contact with her the entire time to show my sincerity, my truth to her.
He hypnotic eyes shimmered with tears as she silently nodded. A quiet yes escaped her rosebud lips and I pulled her to me, encasing her in my arms and holding her, giving her a comfort she so desperately needs. "Then why don't we go get the head mistress and get all that boring paperwork done hm?" She seemed to glow as she smiled brightly. Hermes returned with the Head Mistress in tow. Madam Abigail looked at our princess, "Go and pack whilst these gentlemen fill out the necessary paperwork." Our little one seemed to become more demure in the presence of the matron and Poseidon stepped forward to go with her and help her pack.
Poseidon's P.O.V.
AnaMaria tugged on my arm, leading me out to the main hallway and then up a spiral staircase. I allowed her to pull me along, smiling all the while. I noticed that as she pulled me along that the area we were going to seemed more decrepit then the rest of the building. I frowned in thought as she walked to a door that was halfway rotted, it was in so much disrepair and I was hesitant to see how badly her room was. When I entered after her I was horrified. There was a massive hole in part of the ceiling in her room and her bed was practically in taters; springs jutting out and no cushioning visible. Our poor princess, locked in a dungeon for so long will finally be set free.
She got all of her items into two large duffle bags and I grabbed them from her, taking her hand in my free one and leading her back downstairs. "Darling, why did you stay in that room when you could have gotten a new one?" I noticed how she hesitated before answering. "It may have been drafty but it was mine. I didn't mind it." I frowned and thought it best to ask her about ti when we were no longer here. We arrived to the main entrance just as they finished the paperwork. "Congratulations AnaMaria. You've officially been adopted."
