Since our misunderstanding with Buck, we have been so busy! Manolo, Blue and our ranch hands built a new barn. Penny and I can milk Rosita and Nina under cover. Ever practical, Manolo surprised Penny with a barber chair. We can hope by next summer to have a forge. There's even a new place for the ranch hands. Manolo and Blue continue to discover new things around our nuevo rancho.
Victoria and Annie come twice a week to visit. We share news of the two ranchos and Tucson. They help Penny and me with watering the apple trees. We just covered the trees' bases with hay and wood chips to keep them warm through the winter. Sometimes they bring Jenny with them. Jenny is such a blessing! She is so eager to help and always smiles.
Miguel received good news from San Francisco. It seems we will be getting help for the new church and mission. We will welcome the sisters and Miguel's fellow priest with una noche de celebración. It seems that Manolo and nuestra familia already know them!
Papa's present still is in its crate. Everyone steals a look at it. Still his instructions were clear. No podemos abrir la caja hasta Navidad. Manolo and Blue have argued with me. I wish we could. I know it is very important for some reason.
Manolo, I fear, may discover this sooner than any of us….
