A/N: Last week, on (November 12, 1955) at 10:04 pm lightning struck the Hill Valley clock tower, sending Marty McFly "Back To The Future"! The Power of Love was the feature song – and it was also featured in Chuck vs The First Date. This is a little late but still …. I couldn't pass it up. Oh yeah, and I italicized the lyrics for you ;-)

I don't own Chuck or anything by Huey Lewis & The News, but if I did it would make this one man weep and sing at the same time.

The Power of Love

It was movie date night, a tradition that lived on through the years.

Chuck was making his way to Sarah and the couch and balancing a DVD, a bowl of popcorn, two wine glasses and a bottle of wine. "I've got a special movie night planned for tonight." he told Sarah who was already curled up there waiting for him.

"You do huh? And what dazzling feature have you chosen for our viewing pleasure tonight? Oooo let me guess, something with stars … or space…. Or robots?" she asked reaching out to catch the wine glasses that were slipping out of his hands.

"Nope!"Chuck grinned" Time travel! it's an oldie but a goody – Back To The Future. The first of the franchise."

"Is that the one that has Michael J Fox on the actor that you say looks like Dr. Dryfus?" Sarah asked while pouring wine in both glasses.

"MmmHmm" he nodded while taking a sip "the very same. I just thought it was apropos considering …. Well, everything."

"Everything?"

"Well yeah – a couple reasons. First there's the date."

"The date? Was it released on today's date?"

"Oh no, no. You see today, on this date November 12 in 1955 at 10:04 pm lightning struck the Hill Valley clock tower, sending Marty McFly "Back To The Future"!" throwing his arm out and pointing for dramatic effect while trying his best Doc Brown imitation.

"Oooo – kaaaayyyy" Sarah giggled at his antics "that's one reason. What was the other?"

"The soundtrack. The main theme song to be specific."

"Well now I'm curious. Enlighten me, what's the song?"

"Well it's a song by Huey Lewis and The News called The Power of Love. It …. well it kinda reminds me of us. You and me and uh, everything….."

"Everything?"

"Yeah" he said through a tight lip smile "You know, how we overcame the ups and the downs. The starts and the starts. The will they, won't they. The…."

"Wait! Will they won't they ….. what?" Sarah asked, confusion on her face.

"Uh … ahh … well … will they ….. you know or .. ah .. won't they…" Chuck said through a pinched face while making a circular motion in front of him "… ya know."

"No Chuck. I don't. Enlighten me." she said with the mischievous face of a 2 ½ year old.

"Sex – okay" he blurted out "will they or wont they have sex."

"Well we certainly did. And do. Frequently." she said in what sounded very much like a purr.

"Annnyyyywaaayyyy. Like I was saying, it's the power of love that got us through everything and here, where we are now. The power of love is a curious thing. Make a one man weep, make another man sing – and I certainly did both of those during the first couple of years of our relationship."

"You mean our asset handler relationship?" she asked in an innocent voice.

"Yeah you keep telling yourself that. We both know it was real somewhere between me fixing your phone and defusing bombs with computer viruses" he smirked as she swatted him on the shoulder.

"Anyway, the power of love was able to change a hawk – you" pointing at Sarah "into a little white dove even though you didn't know what you were feeling cause well, it's more than a feeling, that's the power of love"

"Wow, that pretty powerful. But there was a lot of WTWT. Didn't it get beat down over the years?" she asked looking over the rim of her wine glass as she took a sip.

"WTWT?"

"Yup. Short for will they won't they – duh!"

Chuck was getting a little suspicious of Sarah's smirking replies, but continued on anyway. "Well it did get battered around a bit but its tougher than diamonds, rich like cream. Stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream." he said before he could catch himself.

Sarah caught him though.

"You think I'm a bad girl Chuc-kkk?" clicking the 'K' just a little louder and longer while looking up at him through her lashes.

The red heat of embarrassment rose visibly up Chuck's neck, spreading across his face and rounding out on his ears all in record time.

"Uuhhmmm…" was all he could say before Sarah gently reached over and pushed his chin up, closing his mouth with a click. Sarah giggled as he shook himself out, trying to regain his equilibrium. In her most innocent voice she asked "So you were saying…."

"Right. The power of love" he struggled out as he tried to pull himself together. "It uh … it'll make a bad one good, mmh make a wrong right
Power of love will keep you home at night."

"MmmmHmmmm." Sarah hummed while scooting right against Chuck, a devilish grin on her face "And when I'm bad I Am Soo-oo Good. Right Chuc-kkk? Like tonight? The two of us? Alone…." she purred "I mean, we really don't need anything else." The mischief in her eyes sparkling like roman candles "Don't need money, don't take fame. Don't need no credit card to ride this train. And you know how much fun we can have on a train, don't you girl Chuc-kkk?"

Chuck's eyes popped open wide as he finally caught on. Narrowing his eyes he pointed at her. "Wait. Do you know the s…"

But Sarah jumped in before he could finish. "I can't help myself you know. It's strong and it's sudden and it's cruel sometimes. But it might just save your life. And it did. It saved my life. You saved my life." getting soft and serious with her final words.

"Wasn't me." Chuck shrugged pulling her in for a hug "It was the power of love. How do you know that song anyway?"

"Really Chuck?" a hint of sarcasm in her voice "It's on Chuck & Sarah Mixes volumes 1,2 &4. I can enter a karaoke contest with that song and not have to look at the words." and Sarah paused

"Huh, I never thought about that. It's not on volume 3." looking at Chuck with an unspoken question in her eyes.

Chuck averted his eyes, looking down at his feet "Uh, no. It's … it's not on Volume 3." sighing before he continued "I did a new mix every year. The first two years I really wanted to believe in it, ya know. The third year …. well everything and…."

"Shaw" Sarah said, never breaking eye contact.

"yeah, well, you know ….everything … and Hannah ….." he stammered

"And Shaw." She said with conviction

"And Shaw" Chuck sighed. "But the good news is….." he said the sparkle returning to his eyes.

"It's on Volume 4!" Sarah finished with a growing smile. "So there it is. Proof - That's the power of love"

"That's the power of love" Chuck echoed "and we've both felt it. We just didn't always know what to do about it."

"Well speaking from experience first time you feel it might make you sad. And I did. Here I was, in love with the great guy and I couldn't do anything about it. And Next time you feel it might make you mad. I think that's what happened at the train station in Prague. Really though, I've felt both."

"Yeah, I did too. But I'm sure you'd tell your past self that you'll be glad baby when you've found that's the power that makes the world go 'round."

"I don't know" Sarah sighed "In my head I kept hearing they say that all in love is fair…."

" Yeah but you don't care" Chuck rushed in "But you know what to do - when it gets hold of you"

"And with a little help from above?" she asked softly
"You feel the power of love" Chuck said, taking he into his arms. And with a powerful combination of love, passion and lust shining in his eyes he kissed her "You feel the power of love" kissing her again for all he was worth.
Moments that felt like hours later, he pulled back "Can you feel it?"

Sarah dragging him back to the bedroom was all the answer he needed.

Some time later…..

"So it's a little late to start movie night" Chuck panted, trying to catch his breath

"Worth it" Sarah mumbled into his chest "I'm so glad I don't need no credit card to ride this train." Sarah sighed "No way I'd have a big enough credit limit."

"So, better than the train?"

Lifting her head up so she could look at Chuck through her lashes Sarah's smile was downright lascivious "Oh yeah" she said. "A much better ride. Tougher than diamonds and stronger than steel" playing with the hair on his bare chest. "You won't feel nothin' 'til you feel the power of love."

"Let me show you."

"Great Scott!" was the last coherent thing Chuck said …. or many, many hours.

Feel the power of love

fini!

*"The Power of Love" – Single by Huey Lewis and the News - released June 1985 - from the album Back to the Future: Music from the Motion Picture Soundtrack and Fore! – written by Huey Lewis, Chris Hayes & Johnny Colla – produced by Huey Lewis and the News. It gave the band their first number-one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and their second number-one hit on the U.S. Top Rock Tracks chart. The song appears early in Back to the Future as Marty McFly skateboards to school. Later in the film, McFly and his band play a hard rock version of the song for a Battle of the Bands audition (at which a character played by Huey Lewis himself is judging and tells Marty's group that they are "just too darn loud").

A/N2: You know what was more fun than writing this? Reading it to David Carner on the phone and listening to him snicker, cough, and try to control his laughter. Thanks David!
