Love The Way You Lie; Chapter 24. Throwing In The Towel.
'If you are pregnant, you better not step a mile near that dome.'
Reading that text over and over again in the count down days to the tournament, the bleach blonde sat on the bank near the city river with her head in her hands. It was starting to get ridiculous now! The morning sickness and the anxiety building up over the time span, it was really starting to distract the girl from her beyblade training. Who knew Kai could be so pushy when it came to a future child? Especially when this woman was so determined to become a champion and earn a place among history. The first beyblade girl world champion – Gosh that would give Pearl some bragging right alright.
Not only did people doubt her truth at the moment, but even her bitbeast could feel the strain of her physical and mental health. It was just as worn out and exhausted as its owner. It got to the point that Pearl would just sit down in the training sessions and watch her team sweat until they were aching too much to move. At one point; it got to the situation where her team would bitch about it.
But after a great deal of thinking in the twenty four hours remaining, the blonde picked up a pen and a piece of paper. It was going to be hard to think of what her next movements were, but Pearl was too strong and ambitious to let anyone bring her down any longer, her pride and babies life was on the line here. Was the dream really worth it when she was about to expect the next best thing; becoming a mother to a millionaires baby.
'As much as I would have loved to have stuck around, I feel that I am too exhausted to continue this career anymore. I have made a fair amount of money from my contract and earned enough to continue my own way in this world. Tell Kai he can text me when he's ready when you see him in the finals. Goodbye~'
The thought of running away again seemed to eat up the American as she loaded her luggage into the taxi and made her way back to her home town to go home to her mother who welcomed her back with a proud set of open arms.
As much as it was hard for Pearl to sit on the sofa stroking her stomach whilst watching the match she should have taken part in, over and over again; she learnt to adapt to her new lifestyle and began to look at a new flat to move into on her mobile phone internet. Until there was an unexpected knock at the door catching her attention.
Both of the bleach blondes' parents were at work and she was home alone with the dog. So the Liberty holder stood up from the sofa and peeked through the front doors glass window to view the stranger she used to know on the door step, holding a bouquet of fresh red roses. NO WAY! – Her chestnut brown eyes widened and her skin wrenched against her muscles. It was the grouche!
Opening the door very slowly to watch his eyes follow the gap widen, she bit her peached lower lip anxiously and watched his face go pale. Was he showing emotion for the first time? – Pearl blinked and watched him just hold out the flowers like a sulking spoilt child, with a blush on his toned cheeks. Kai was embarrassed. "I heard everything from Riley. He is pretty pissed off with you." He explained, breaking the silent and uncomfortable tension in the atmosphere.
"Name someone who isn't pissed off with me." Pearl mumbled with a faint giggle and accepted the gift innocently, bringing them up to her nose to smell the innocent flower. "Their beautiful, what's the occasion?"
"A new start." The Russian forced out his dry mouth and rubbed his wrist anxiously. "A new beginning for us and the baby."
"Why should I even give you the time of day? You treated me like shit back in the days." Pearl folded her arms and held onto the Roses tightly. "Not to mention I am not exactly model material."
Kai rolled his crimson eyes and dug his hands into his baggy purple trousers. "And you played me the whole time when you were with the Bladebreakers." He snarled in a cold tone, not really wanting this to end up as an argument. "So doesn't that make us both as bad as eachother?" He concluded.
Pearl slowly cracked a weak smile as her heart skipped an unhealthy beat. "Maybe. But I never had anyone else though. They would never compare to you." She paused to keep calm.
"And you think that model meant something to me?" The Bladebreaker leader interrupted impatiently. "Look, I am not going to stand here for your amusement. I want to know where I stand in this." What Kai was trying to say is, its time to grow up with a priority on the way.
Slowly placing the flowers down on the side table next to her, the American walked out to the Russian and wrapped her arms around him to hug him tightly, resting her head against his chest to hear his pounding and nervous heart beat. "Does that mean I meant something to you then?" She asked, kissing his cheek.
Feeling his eyes widen with shock with how quickly everything recovered, the Russian just went along with the flow of the atmosphere. He wrapped her arms around her curving figure and pulled her close against him, there was nowhere else in the world he'd want her and that baby to be right now. "Yea." He confessed and felt a relieved faint smile appear on his dry lips. This was the start of a new beginning.
