[A/N: This was supposed to be a spin-off, but it's somehow spiralled into a sequel. I never planned for this to happen xD. However, I do hope that this chapter has answered a lot of questions about the previous chapters – Thank you for all the messages, reviews, favourites, follows and etc. P.S: I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas].
~Two Months Later~
The Liberty wielder raised her hand up into the air to catch a hold of her blade. She may be breathless and weak from the lack of practise, but that didn't stop her from training. Pearl was dedicated to building up her strength again.
However, as the young blonde prepared her launcher and aimed it to the abandoned construction site, Pearl took a deep breath to steady her shakiness. But before she pulled on the chord, a familiar figure appeared in the distance, one with his launcher aiming towards the American girl.
Cautiously, Pearl grinned at the intruder. "Long time no see buddy."
"Heh, I could say the same back to you too." The champion winked as he firmed his stance, "I was just walking home from Kenny's, until I was distracted by the light of your bit-beast. So I thought to myself, why not? I could do with some practise."
It's impossible to not miss this guy~
Pearl gleamed with joy, "Bring it on!"
After their adventurous match had finally came to an end, the two bladers celebrated Tyson's victory by attending a local cafe to grab themselves a drink each. They both had a joyful catch up, even if Tyson wasn't shy about prying into why Kai had been such a distant grouch lately.
"So it turns out that you weren't pregnant? But-"
"I know, it must look terrible." Pearl rubbed her forehead and gazed down at her cappuccino, admiring the heart coco pattern that had been sprinkled on top of the throffy milk. "So strangely, I took the doctors advise and I went to therapy. They shed so much light on the scenario, the therapist said that the pregnancy samples may have been mixed up."
"Oh for crying out loud." Tyson suddenly felt a little put off from his drink. He pushed his fizzy drink away and placed his clenched hand around his mouth for a moment to suppress his little belch. "If that's the case, why haven't you and Kai kiss n made up yet? He's not that bad you know-"
A stubborn shrug rolled from Pearl's shoulders. "I haven't said anything because the therapist also raised an interesting theory to the problem. My pregnancy felt so real and the reason for that is because I may have been experiencing a phantom pregnancy." She paused for a moment to register Tyson's reaction.
Just like Pearl had predicted, he was blank and this made her sigh heavily. "A phantom pregnancy is-"
"I know what that is!" Blurted Tyson, "Jeez, I ain't that dumb you know."
A little chuckle cooed from Pearl's lips and she crossed her legs under the table. "Sorry, you just looked so confused." She stated and pushed his drink back towards his side of the table. "I've paid for that, so you will be drinking it by the way." Pearl insisted with a wink.
"We learnt about phantom pregnancy's in sex ed-" A light blush filled Tyson's cheeks, but he refused to acknowledge it. "What triggered it?"
Pearl took a brief sip of her cappucino, "Well, after a much indepth discussion about my personal life, I realised that I wanted to settle down quickly with Kai because I wanted to know what a perfect family feels like. But, oh well." Even though her voice was croaking and her eyes were fogging, Pearl refused to shed a single tear – she'd grown so much stronger.
"Oh man. You need to tell Kai."
"No, I am not going to speak to him until I have finished my therapy sessions."
"Ah. Well, in the mean time, would you like to attend the tournament after party? It's at my house!" The change of subject helped Tyson regain his appetite for his drink. "Hey! You can have a glass of champagne with us all too, after all, you were a member of the team once."
"Oh yea, I forgot about that." A sweat drop formed in the corner of Pearl's forehead, "I'm surprised that you still want to speak to me after all that happened."
The Japanese blader flapped his hand and groaned, "That was ages ago. However, you still never told us why you just up and left us. What was wrong?" His playful attitude then dramatically shifted into a serious tone.
"Oh, I don't remember." Lied Pearl as she drank the last of her coffee. "Besides, it doesn't really matter does it? You guys won the tournament and defeated the Blitzkrieg Boys.."
"Pearl." Tyson frowned, "Stop lying."
The blonde turned to hide her guilty expression. "Oh. Fine." Pearl uncrossed her legs and cupped her hands together in her lap. "I left because I felt like I didn't belong in the team. I mean, you guys had started from the bottom and worked your way to the top. Me, on the other hand, I had never been given the chance to experience that because I was just thrown in there last minute to replace Daichi. So I went back to my old team."
"Well, now that you word it like that, I guess your reason is fair enough." Tyson then snorted with amusement, "I guess you heard about what happened between the American Evolutions and The Blitzkrieg Boys too right?"
Pearl nodded negatively. "When I quit the Evolutions, my leader, Riley, he was so angry with me that he threatened to come destroy me and my blade. So I decided to keep my head down for a bit."
"Your team leader said that to you? Wow!" The Granger suddenly felt grateful to have Kai as his leader now. "I guess Kai never told you what he and his ex-team did then did he? The Blitzkrieg Boys ambushed them and tore them apart. Apparently there was nothing left of them by the time Tala and Kai had finished with them. We didn't even get to face the Evolutions, so they forfeited. So the finals were between us and the Blitzkrieg Boys. Once that mess was over, Kai returned back to the dojo and we all talked things out. Max and myself outed Michelle, then we gave Mr Dickinson a piece of our minds too."
Natrually, Pearl's eyes widened with surprise and her sweatdrop dried up. "No, Kai never told me any of that. I did find it strange that my ex team forfeited. Oh well." She shrugged, "They were getting a bit too big for their boots huh?" She laughed innocently.
"You and Kai are just as bad as each other, I swear." Tyson tilted his head side to side, "You both don't know who's side you're on."
"You really think so?" Pearl pouted for a moment, "I dunno about that because within a heartbeat, me and Kai wouldn't hesitate to defend you guys. Anyway, that reminds me, is Kai going to be at this part?"
"I doubt it. He works a lot and his grandpa never gives him a day off to come and train anymore. So, you should come."He finished his drink and then placed the empty cup onto the table. "I will text you the details. See you around, I gotta run!"
A party? I can't remember the last time that I was invited to one of those~
