Chapter Four

She watched him in the warehouse. She had been all night, he was like Penelope. The Trollhunter woke and sat up, looking around. As if he sensed her. She walked to a corner lit by sunlight, and turned invisible when he turned to look at her. Merlin noticed. He walked to her. He began studying the human dragonborn hybrid. The Trollhunter got up and walked to them. Stopping just out of the sun.

"What are you doin-" he began.

"Shush! Can't you see I'm investigating something!" Merlin cut him off with a harsh whisper.

She really wished Douxie was here. He wasn't the best apprentice, but he was a good brother. Her father was such a hot head.

"What are you investiga-" the trollhunter tried again.

"Shush!" Merlin demanded "Go back to sleep! This doesn't concern you!"

Cody watched in horror as the trollhunter stepped closer. He grunted as the sun hit his skin and jumped back to the shade. She let out a low growl as she saw Merlin raise his hand slightly. Merlin didn't even flinch. The wizard began petting her. She became visible to tell him she was not a dog. She saw the trollhunter draw his sword. She barely began to raise her head when she saw him throw the sword at her.

She woke to a hand on her back, shaking her awake. She looked to her side and saw Faith.

"There you are! You fell asleep on Kizer!" She said with a giggle.

Cody then noticed the squirming lump under her stomach. She quickly got up.

"Sorry."

Kizer walked out of the bed in the form of a hero shrew. He shook and glared at Cody.

"It wouldn't have happened if you hadn't brought in that troll!"
"Oh come on! She stayed up late teaching her to draw! It was adorable!" Faith exclaimed.

Cody looked around. A wave of anxiety washed over her. She bolted up and looked around.

"Where's Penelope?"

"Oh don't worry. She's hiding under your bed."

Cody looked under the bed, and sure enough, there was Penelope.

"What are you doing down there child."

Penelope gave her a playful growl and ran out. Cody noticed she was dragging her leg behind her. She sighed, if only she knew how to fix it, or even have kept her from getting injured. She picked up Penelope.

"Oh and Illian and Jaiden are here, they're worried."

"Of course, they're good friends."

She walked out and opened her door. She saw a brown eyed, dark haired, dark skinned Jaiden and a brown eyed, light skinned, ginger haired Illian standing outside. She smiled as she saw they were holding hands.

"If it isn't two ahead of our time."

She motioned for them to come in. They entered and sat on a couch. Cody heard Penelope giva another playful growl.

"What was that?" Illian asked.

"W-what was what?" Cody answered, trying(and failing) to hide the fear in her voice.

Jaiden and Illian got up and moved to the door. Cody ran in front of them.

"Nothing's in there!" She shouted.

"You are awful at lying." Illian stated.

Cody heard the door open.

"Hey look Penellope fell asleep in my-"

Illian and Jaiden screamed. Cody winced. She turned to see Penelope still fast asleep in Faith's arms. She took Penelope from Faith.

"It's okay! She won't hurt you!" Cody shouted over the screams.

Once Jaiden and Illian stopped screaming, they backed away.

"WHY ARE YOU HOLDING IT!" Illian shouted.

"TROLLS ARE VICIOUS BEASTS!"

Cody backed away. "Could you two calm down! It's 1897 for crying out loud! We can't exactly scream like that and not have people wonder what's happening!"

Jaiden and Illian cowered against the wall. Penelope stirred and stared at them.

"Oh great you woke her up!" Faith shouted.

Jaiden and Illian finally stopped screaming.

"Why isn't she attacking."

"Because trolls are not vicious beasts."

"She's actually kind of cute."

"Please don't tell."

After a few seconds, Jaiden sighed. "You never judged us for being homosexual, and respect us. It wouldn't be fair to judge and disrespect you for this. We won't tell."

"Right, what he said."

"Thank you, you're the best."
