A Temporary Alliance

Vergil found it amusing that this woman, whose name he still did not know, wanted to fight him, the King of Hell.

It was like she was asking for a death wish.

His sword at his side, the angel-demon hybrid walked towards his opponent. She was small, so small he noticed as she walked towards him. Her eyes never lost their fire. He smirked at that. "I can see why he would want you," he taunted as his eyes racked over her form. She even wore his jacket. "Your beautiful is quite exquisite."

She snorted, "If you think that this will earn you brownie points for being an absentee brother for the last eight years, it's not working."

He shrugged. "I am not trying anything."

She responded by sending a couch his way. He dodged it and watched as she hurled another his way. He laughed but it only seemed to piss her off more. He hissed as he felt his brain cells start to burst, like bombs going off. He dropped to his knees, clutching the side of his head before he snarled, his eyes turning white as he activated his demon side. The demon king blurred towards the girl, sword raised to strike.

Dante was getting really tired of all the dead ends. He had been searching for Vergil for the last six months. He knew his brother had an idea of where their father was. After so many years in whatever form of banishment he was in, Dante was done trying to ignore it.

His mother was dead; killed when he was small to protect him. His brother was lost to his own madness according to Phineas, and his father was being tormented in some unknown location. While he could not do a think of his mother but honor her memory, he would do something for his father and brother.

His children deserved to know them. His wife deserved it.

He sighed and dropped to his knees. Phineas seemed to have noticed his guest's defeat and walked towards him with a cup of what Dante could only guess was alcoholic.

"Here," said the demon, handing it to him. Dante accepted it and took a drink. "I'm sorry for all the misleads. I thought for sure I had found him this time."

Dante smiled and for a moment, Phineas was almost certain he saw Sparda starting at him. "It's nothing to worry about," he said and downed the rest of his drink. It had a bit of a bitter taste to it but it was nothing to Dante. He had tasted worse. "I'll find him."

Phineas nodded. "Tell me Dante," he began. "What prompted this search?"

Dante sighed. "Isn't obvious?"

"Not really," replied the demon. "When you came to me, you simply said you wished to find your brother. Almost nine years is a bit late for a family reunion don't you think? Especially with your family to consider."

Dante grimaced. "I'm aware,"

"It's bad enough you're product of angel and demon," Phineas continued. "But to take a witch as your mate and procreate is just making it worse. This is far worse than your little stint with Mundus. Were he alive today, he would have a field day with this. Not one, but two nephilim-witch crossbreeds running about. And with your daughter's advanced powers, it would only have been a matter of time before she was targeted. And your son," he added.

Dante growled. "I know that!" he shouted.

Phineas held up his hand, "Relax," he eased. "I am not trying to provoke you. I understand your family means the world to you. I was simply stating facts."

Dante sighed. "I get it," he said.

Phineas nodded.

"Papa."

Both men looked around, Phineas in confusion, Dante in alert. That sounded like Vera. "Papa, where are you?"

"Odd," Phineas said.

"Vera," Dante called. How had his daughter wondered into Limbo? Phineas watched as small child materialized before them. She was about eight years old, with dark red hair and Dante's blue-grey eyes. She was dressed in a blue dress with a blouse and black leggings. Her hair was short, to the nape of her neck, and she stared at Dante. She was transparent, meaning she was not fully in Limbo.

So she was here in spirit, Phineas mused. Dante knelt down to her, his hands on her shoulders. "Vera, what are you doing here?" he asked.

"Papa you need to come home. There's a bad man here," she said, fear in her voice. "He's hurting Mama."

Dante frowned, "Who is it Vee? A demon?"

Vera nodded. "Auntie Kat said a name...it was like mine. Vergil,"

Phineas watched as Dante's eyes darkened and he was sure he was now looking at Sparda's son. He looked like a warrior, his back straight and promises of death in his eyes. Vergil had done the wrong thing.

He had gone after a demon's mate. Half angel or not, Dante was a demon, the son of a Knight of Hell. He protected what he loved. And he loved the witch he had bedded; Bonnie was her name. And if he remembered her maiden name had been Bennett, so she was a very powerful witch.

"I'm on my way sweetheart," Dante said, summoning Rebellion. The crimson hue of his eyes told Phineas that he was going to do some damage to his brother. If anything, this might actually be day Vergil falls from his throne and into the arms of death.

Vera was brought back into the real world just in time to watch as her mother was slammed through the wall of the foyer. She winched and moved to help her when Kat took hold of her hand, keeping her still.

"Auntie Kat let me go!" she cried.

"It's too dangerous Vera!" Kat chastised. "Your mom can handle herself."

Evan snorted. "Yea because you know, she didn't just get thrown through a fucking wall."

Kat was about to say something when Evan broke away, conjuring a fireball in his hand and hurling it towards Vergil. The demon sliced through it with his sword as if it was paper. Growling, the emerald of his eyes flashing red, the young boy ran towards his mother, picking up a thin steel pipe that had been pulled up when his mom decided try using a water tactic. He moved, getting in front of her, his stance ready to fight.

"Come on you son of a bitch," he challenged. "Let's get violent!"

"Sounds like something your father would say," Vergil said and rushed forward. Evan held his ground and braced himself for an attack. The blade came towards him and he knew it was gonna cut into his cheek and he shut his eyes, waiting. But the blow never came. He opened his eyes, expecting to see his mother standing in front of him but he turned and found she was still unconscious.

"You've got some fucking nerve, Vergil." Evan shivered at the voice. He looked up and found his father standing over him. He could feel the power following from his father, the flecks of white in his hair. He had tapped into his demon side. Dante looked over his shoulder, crimson eyes landing on his wife and son.

"What the hell took you old man!?" Evan snapped. Dante frowned, now was not the time. "Mom almost died and you decide now to make a fucking entrance? Why not earlier? Like when that guy," he jabbed his finger at Vergil, "Was trying to take our out with a door?"

"Evan," his father said.

"I mean, maybe if you stopped searching for the fucker, I am almost certain you'd have realized he was gonna fucking show up one day. Even if he's a psychopathic guy who is hellbent on killing mom. Because that's..."

"Evan!" his father growled. The boy stopped and sank down, terrified. "Stay by your mom," he instructed. "Kat, you and Vera get over here. Kat create a barrier once you're here."

"Got it!" Kat said and pulled a terrified Vera over to her brother and mom. Her eyes never left her father's form as he removed his crimson jacket, waited as Kat placed Bonnie's head on her lap and then covered her with it. Vera reached, linking her hand with her brother's. She sat down next to him and then reached out for Kat's. She took it without hesitation and focused on the barrier.

"Stay here," Dante ordered and headed towards his brother.

"Dad," he turned and looked at Evan. "Kick his ass."

Dante gave a smile. "Will do kiddo."

In the small town of Mystic Falls, Elena Gilbert frowned as her boyfriend, Damon, kicked in the door to her friend's former living arrangements. Ever since the death of Rudy Hopkins, the deed had become in void. Bonnie was missing, had been for almost nine years. Abby had said she thought she saw her, about five years ago,but she wasn't sure. It might have been her imagination. She couldn't be sure.

But what Elena did know was that breaking and entering ws not one of the things she wanted to do for the rest of her immortal life. As much as she loved Damon, she didn't like that he was just going to walk into Bonnie's home like he had lived there for years.

"Damon," she said.

"Relax Elena," he said with the wave of his hand. "We're just here to see if Lucy can find anything that will locate little Bonnie Bennett. She has been missing out on her witchy duties."

Elena frowned. "But still,"

"Relax," he reassured her and then looked around for something that had to belong to the little witch. She couldn't have packed up all her witchy belongs with her when she up and skipped town.

Damon still thought it was a bitch move, but then again, it was Mystic Falls. He wouldn't want to stay too long either.

But unlike him, Bonnie didn't have the perks of being an immortal. So her almost ten year break was up. They still had Silas to worry about. He had disappeared just after Bonnie had. And of course there was still Klaus, he wasn't off the hit list.

Damon sighed and he searched through Bonnie's room. He would find something to locate her. And once they did, Damon was gonna drag her ass, kicking, screaming or otherwise, back to this backwater town and make sure she stayed.

Dante blocked Veril's swing of Yamato before striking. The clashing of swords filled the air and Dante struggled, trying to apply more force to his attack. The image of his wife injured as enough for him to break Vergil's defense and swing. Rebellion's blade cut into fabric before tearing through the layer of skin underneath. Blood began to run down Vergil's chest and he growled, his eyes white.

The snow haired brother attacked, delivering rapid swipes of his sword to his brother's chest. Dante growled and moved to attack again. Vergil raised Yamato and both brothers watched as their swords clashed again.

Inside the barrier, Kat watched as her friends fought. It was just like before. They were going to fight and one of them was going to end up getting close to killing the other. And judging by the rage in Dante's eyes, it was going to be Vergil who would brush with death once again.

"Come on Dad," Evan whispered from beside his sister. "Kick his ass."

"I wish they didn't have to fight," Vera mused.

A soft moan escaped Bonnie's lips. Both the twins smiled as she moved to get up, looking around in confusion. Her eyes landed on the fighting forms of Dante and Vergil just in time to see Vergil knock Rebellion from her husband's hand before stabbing Dante in the chest.

"DANTE!" cried the witch as she shot up, ignoring the pain in her body and the barrier as she broke through it, rushing towards her husband. She could feel the Expression coursing through her veins. It had been years, so many years since she had used it. It had never mattered. There had never been a reason.

Until now.

Her hand shot up, black veins running along her skin as she reached out the dark magic and then clutched her hand into a fist. Vergil gasped, feeling his throat start to close before he dropped to the ground, his eyes turning the same shade of blue as her mate's. Her eyes darkened as she walked towards him the winds starting to pick and blow her hair.

She looked majestic in Vergil's eyes. She walked with power and murder on her mind, protecting her kin. She kicked him away from her husband before she spoke, "What business do you have with my family?" she demanded, loosing her fist so he could speak.

"I heard a rumor," he wheezed out.

"Of?"

"Children who remembered my parents were living here. It was said they were the result of the coupling of my brother and a witch," he answered and grunted as she attacked his chest area. He could feel his ribs starting to break.

"So you wanted to kill them?"

"Yes," he said with a groan of pain. "They don't need to go through what I went through. What he went through," he said looking at Dante who puled Yamato out of his chest. "Demons will flock here and try to kill them."

"So the King of Hell decided he would be doing us a favor?" Dante asked.

"I told you before," Vergil gritted out. "I loved you brother."

"Before the insanity," Dante shot back. "Before you became the very thing we fought so hard to destroy. You became the King of Hell. What's going to stop you from becoming exactly like Mundus?"

"I wouldn't become-!" Vergil cut off with a shout of pain. Bonnie had increased her torment.

"Bonnie," Dante said, taking hold of her shoulder. "Let him go."

Bonnie turned to him, her eyes black. "He hurt you."

"I'm fine," he assured her. He wrapped his arms around her waist, "I'm alright doll face." She stilled, the hold Expression held over her and Vergil breaking. She wrapped her arms around his torso and just breathed in his scent. He was here. He was real.

Vergil hissed as he moved to get up. "Vergil," he looked at his brother. "I searched for you for six months, and when I finally find you you're attacking my family. I'm not cool with that, at all. But my kids, they deserve to know you, the old you. My brother, not this crazed King of Hell."

Vergil blinked but glanced at the two children. "Why?" he asked.

"Because you and our father are all they have left of their demon/angel heritage." Dante replied. Vergil looked at his brother and for the first time in so long, he felt like his old self.

"What's with the face?" Dante asked later that night as he and Bonnie laid in bed. She had this far off look in her face and it had been bugging him. He poked her in the side. "Come on doll face, you gotta give me something."

"Almost nine years together and for some reason you still revert to that twenty-one year old version of yourself," she smiled and leaned in, kissing him quickly. He frowned at her teasing before her face took a serious look. "Your brother said demons would come."

"We don't let them get Evan and Vee."

Bonnie bit her. "But what if Silas does?" she asked. "He's still out there Dante. I can feel him."

Dante frowned. "The nightmares again?"

She nodded. "He's toying with me. From where I don't know."

Dante kisses her shoulder. "I won't let that bastard hurt you or our kids."

Bonnie nodded before she yawned. "You do know what this means right?"

He groaned but nodded as he watched his wife fall asleep. He did not want to go back to Mystic Falls. But if it would bring Silas out of hiding, it would have to do.
