Nico's Surprise Visitor

Now…I know what you all are probably thinking? Why the title? Well you'll just have to find out now won't you? Now without further ado…let's get to the chapter shall we? We shall!

Another beautiful day had arrived in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro! The golden sunshine had just about peaked over the horizon. Providing life with its natural blaze of hot weather.

Birds were outside enjoying the hot weather, either spending a day at the beach or swimming in the river in the jungle.

Some just woke up later on in the day at around two in the afternoon because of the winners celebration the night before.

Our favourite blue spix macaw couple had just woken up from their peaceful slumber later that day. And the two of them admired the way they looked at each other as a new day had just begun.

"Good afternoon my precious gem of the forest!" Blu was the first to speak, and he stroked her head feathers very softly which made her giggle.

"Well good afternoon to you too lovehawk! Ahhh, Blu that was the best evening ever! I kind of didn't want it to end!" Jewel sighed as she leaned against her husband, showing affection towards him.

"I know Jewel! It was the most perfect evening…and I'm not just talking about what happened before bed!" Blu whispered the final part in a playful manner, and slapped her butt.

"Honey! Easy there tiger! You did use a leaf didn't you?" Jewel wondered while blushing slightly, remembering their wonderful night together.

"Of course I did! It's right on your…Erm…cloaca!" Blu chuckled to himself while pointing downwards. His wife looked down and realised the leaf was still there and she quickly threw it out of the hollow.

"Thank god nobody other than you saw that! That would have been humil…"

"Mommy! Daddy!" As soon as Jewel got cut off, both the adult blue macaws looked at the entrance to see Tiago and Carla enter the hollow. They flew up to their parents and tackled them to the ground. "We missed you!"

"We missed you too! Wait…where's your sister?" Jewel wondered in a panic as she began to shake nervously. But before Blu could have the chance to speak, their youngest daughter Bia flew into the hollow. Carrying something in her talons which may have been something that would freak her parents out.

"Hi mom! Hi dad! I had a great time with uncle Malcom and aunt Lexi! I also found this leaf just outside the hollow!" Bia beamed as she examined the leaf with curiosity. However Blu and Jewel immediately went pale when seeing her holding the leaf.

"Erm…Th-That's great kiddo! Pass it to me!" Blu demanded as he stuck out his wing. However his daughter was too interested in the leaf.

"Two seconds dad! What's this…sticky substance on the centre of the leaf? Perhaps I should taste it…"

"ABSOLUTELY NOT! IT COULD BE TOXIC! DO YOU WANNA DIE?" Blu shouted as he snatched the leaf from her and flew out of the hollow to dispose of it. This made Bia start to cry softly.

"M-M-Mommy? Did I d-d-disappoint daddy?" The young chick cried while worrying that she had upset her father.

"No no no no of course not sweetie! Your dad's just…Erm…having a bad morning! He fell out of the nest and bumped his head. Nothing to worry about!" The adult female spix macaw responded while cursing in her head about this awkward moment.

"So? How was the party?" Tiago chirped innocently while staring at his mother nervously. Jewel immediately noticed what he was trying to do and wasn't going to let him get away with what he did.

"The party was fun…but you are still in trouble for what you did to uncle Diante!" She sternly replied, giving him a look of disappointment.

"Oh man! I was hoping you'd forget about that!" Their son responded rather annoyed that they didn't forget about his little prank.

"There! I got rid of it!" All four macaws looked towards the entrance to notice that Blu had returned with a look of relief. Bia immediately ran up to him and hugged his belly tightly.

"I'm sorry if I made you angry with me daddy! I was only curious about the leaf!" Bia started crying again into his feathers, dampening them slightly.

Blu immediately smiled at his daughter and scooped her up in his wings. "It's ok Bia! I was just concerned about you! That substance may have been toxic and dangerous! I'd be devastated if anything happened to my family!"

"I know daddy! Thank you for protecting me!"

"Of course sweetie! Now…what to do with you son?" Blu placed Bia down on the floor of the hollow, relieved that Bia didn't ask more about the leaf and turned around to face his son with an angry glare.

"Dad come on! It was only a…" Tiago began to say, before his father cut him off because he didn't want to hear any excuses.

"No Tiago! That's the ninth prank this week!"

"It's ten actually…hehe!" His son replied quickly before covering his beak and he started trembling in fear.

"What do you mean ten? What did you do now?!"

"I sort of…shaved off uncle Malcom's head feathers…sorry?" Their youngest child apologised with a slight unsure tone. Because he was still trying to get out of being punished.

However, this made both Blu and Jewel scowl at their son in a very cold and frightening way. Bia and Carla hid behind their mother, preparing for their father to start yelling at Tiago.

"Tiago…you have taken things way too far this time! Your first punishment for the nine pranks would be that you are not allowed to go to the festival preparations! Then your second punishment for your tenth prank would be that you are grounded for a week! No going to the beach! Or the club during the day! Or even hanging out with your friends!"

"WHAT?! THAT'S NOT FAIR DAD!" Tiago shouted angrily while stomping his talons on the hollow floor and throwing a tantrum.

"That's final Tiago! Now, go and help your mother collect food for today! While me and your two sisters will go and visit uncle Nico at his beach pad! Do I make myself clear?" Blu bellowed at his son, who turned away from him and didn't say a word.

"Whatever!" Tiago rudely replied as he crossed his wings. Jewel slapped him round the back of his head, and it made him start to cry. "Mom! Why would you hit me?"

"Don't you dare talk back to your father like that! Apologise to him right now!" Jewel demanded as she spun her son around to face his father.

"I'm sorry dad!" Tiago whined as he rubbed his teary eyes. His father looked at him and softened his expression slightly, but not too much.

"I'm sorry too, but you have to learn your lesson. Pranking can be fun but it can also be dangerous! Now…I'm going to the beach pad with the girls so listen to your mother and behave yourself! Come on girls!"

Blu walked up to his beloved and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and departed their home with Carla and Bia following close behind.

Jewel turned to her son and motioned with her head as a sign for Tiago to follow her. She softened her expression as well. "Come on Tiago let's go!"

"Alright…let's go and get some food!" Tiago whined and followed his mother deeper into the jungle to start gathering some dinner.

Meanwhile, Nico had spent the last few hours scrubbing his bed with a sponge. Trying to get all of the…mess off that Malcom and Lexi…left behind!

"Come into my home and have sex on my bed! They could have at least asked me first! I would have found a cloth from the club to put on the bed! But noooo! They had to just come in and help themselves!" Nico grumbled to himself as he finally finished cleaning his furniture. "There! All spotless and clean! Now…time to…Knock Knock…get the door I guess?"

Nico flew over to the door of the beach pad and ended up flat on his back after both chicks flew in and piled on him in a big hug.

"Uncle Nico! It's so good to see you!" Carla chirped happily while nuzzling her head against his chest feathers.

"Haha It's good to see you too Carla and Bia! Where's your brother?" The yellow canary laughed while stroking their heads.

"Daddy punished him for his constant pranking! He shaved off Malcom's head feathers!" Bia responded instantly while rolling her eyes.

Even though it was a horrible thing to do, Blu and Nico did chuckle about the thought of him having no head feathers.

"Anyway…I thought I'd take the girls over here to see you! Peter bumped into me this morning and told me that you were feeling a bit down?" Blu said to his yellow friend with a look on his face that showed he cared for his friend.

"Oh did he? Yeah I mean…I've been feeling a bit down since my best friend found himself a girlfriend. But it's mainly because I've been thinking about…well you know who?" Nico replied softly while lowering his voice with emphasis.

"Oh…her?" Blu responded softly, understanding why Nico had been feeling pretty upset lately. Blu dared not to speak about it in front of his kids because it would then bring back memories of his…little incident with two geese.

"Yeah…but it doesn't matter anyway! The girls I like always end up living too far away or…getting with my best friend!" Nico replied very softly as he walked over to Pedro's bed and sat down on it, lowering his head to look at the floor.

The blue macaw male knew that he had to try and cheer his friend up. So he made the decision to send his children outside so they don't hear anything that they are going to talk about.

"Bia can you take your sister outside and play for a little bit? Daddy needs to talk to uncle Nico." Blu told his kids quietly as they nodded their heads in agreement and flew outside.

The blue macaw male walked over to Nico's bed and was about to sit down, until his friend stopped him instantly. Much to his surprise.

"Erm…I wouldn't sit there if I were you?" Nico warned him by sticking his wings out in front of him frantically waving them above his bed.

"What? Why not Nico?" Blu raised a curious eyebrow while cocking his head to the side.

"Malcom and Lexi…had some fun on there!" Nico whispered in a low voice so the girls wouldn't hear him. This made Blu roll his eyes at first but then he formed an annoyed stare because the two of them were supposed to be babysitting.

"They did…what?! They were supposed to watch…oh never mind! I'll have a word with them later about that! So what's made you think about her lately?" Blu placed a comforting wing on his shoulder to try and perk his canary friend up a bit.

"Well…seeing you and Jewel, Nightfly and Tanya, Pedro and Zara. Malcom and…"

"Yeah I get the pattern here!" Blu rolled his eyes when Nico rambled on. Making Nico smile slightly.

"Yeah! Well…I've actually thought about her a lot since Zara chose Pedro. It made me wonder if I made enough effort to try and convince her to come here. You know?"

Blu took a deep breath and sat next to Nico to try and give him the best advice possible. But he would have to watch what he says, because he can't offend him.

"Buddy, you did all that you could! She wanted to stay there because it was her home! You decided to come back to Rio, because Rio is your home! I mean…it's not like you can click your wingtips…Click…and she will turn up at your doorstep right?" Blu replied honestly while trying to help his friend.

Nico lifted his head up and smiled at him warmly, knowing that he was only being honest with him and telling him the harsh reality.

"Yeah, I suppose you're right! I mean…if she did turn up as quick as…Click…that! It would be great to see her again for sure! But…Minnesota is a long way away from here! And there's absolutely no way…"

Nico immediately stopped talking, because he noticed Blu's eldest child popping their head through the door. She looked like she wasn't exactly sure on what to say.

"Erm…Daddy? Uncle Nico?" Carla's head popped through the entrance of the beach pad with a nervous grin on her beak.

"Carla could you come back in a few minutes? Nico is still in need of some friendly comforting here!" Blu answered her while smiling at his daughter.

However the female spix macaw chick gulped and spoke to them quite urgently, knowing that this conversation couldn't wait any later.

"But daddy it's important! Someone is here to see uncle Nico!" Carla spoke quickly while looking over her shoulder, laughing nervously in the process.

"Look if it's Pedro! Tell him to come back later when we are preparing for the party tonight!" Nico shouted loud enough so that the other person could hear them. But…he was not exactly prepared to hear what her response would be.

"Erm…it's not uncle Pedro this time…it's a female canary!"

As soon as Carla said that…Blu and Nico's jaws both dropped in shock and surprise. They could barely speak after what they just heard. So the male canary took a deep breath and cleared his throat before responding.

"What's the g-g-girl's name?" Nico stuttered as he made his way to the door. But instead of Carla saying the canary's name, he opened the door. His eyes widened in pure surprise and shock. Blu just stood there with his wings behind his head, trying to process what was going on.

"H-H-Hi Nico…it's been a long time!" The female canary spoke as she smiled anxiously at him. She leaned up against the door post, shaking rather shyly when she saw a bird she's not seen in years.

Nico took off his bottle cap and stared deeply into her eyes, something that he had wanted to do for a very long time.

"Oh…my…god! V-V-Violet? What are you doing here?!"

"Wow! I guess clicking your wingtips does get people here…click…just like that!" Blu thought in his head while noticing Violet standing in front of them.

Well well well! I mean…that's a bit of a surprise isn't it? I bet you wasn't expecting that this early in the story? Well yes indeed! Violet has come all this way to Rio to see Nico again…but why did she come? And who did she come with? All to be revealed in chapter 5! So until then…see you all soon!
