A/N: So this was inspired by the end of Star Wars Rebels and my love of star wars cannon pre-disney. Cause while I love most of what we got from disney, certain characters were sadly cut out. So, this begins at the end of Star Wars: Rebels, but will pull from various timelines as needed.

Lothal: Post Battle of Endor

Sabine Wren looked at the image carved into the stone above her, nodding in satisfaction. It was good work, some of her best. It showed them all. Her family. Hera, Kannan, Zeb, Chopper and Ezra. She swallowed as she stared at his image, wishing she could reach up and pull him to her. Wishing she could pull him close and tell her what she should have before he ended Thrawn's madness and helped save them all. Wishing she could tell him that she loved him.

Soon she promised herself. Soon he would know, and then if he cared for her as she did for him, she would never let him go again.

"Sabine. Are you ready?" Ahsoka asked, coming up behind her. Sabine nodded to the Togruta, following her over to the ship that they had requisitioned for their rescue mission. The two women boarded the ship, Ahsoka taking the pilot's chair and firing up the engine's.

"C'mon Snips. This is where the fun begins."

Ahsoka grinned as she heard her old master's words in her ear, and for a moment she was back on the Twilight, ready to follow him into the next battle. But only for a moment, because Sabine's voice interrupted her thoughts, reminding Ahsoka that her master, her friend, the man she loved was gone, and there was no getting him back. The ship lifted off from Lothal, exiting the upper atmosphere a moment later. Then there was a flash of light, and Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren knew no more.

Yavin 4: Luke Skywalker's Jedi Academy

"Luke. Is everything alright?" Mara Jade-Skywalker asked, and he nodded quietly.

"I was just thinking...Do you think we did the right thing? Restarting the order? While the Jedi weren't completely to blame for my father's fall, their views on attachment definitely contributed to it."

"And we addressed that. We threw the no-attachment rule out the window."

"Well it's about time somebody did."

Mara and Luke stood, sabers in their hands an instant later.

"Who are you? How did you get in here?" Luke asked calmly.

"Honestly? No clue. Last thing I remember is dealing with that sleemo Thrawn back on Lothal. As for who I am, my name is Ezra Bridger." The young man said, throwing off his hood to reveal a human man with short blue hair and blue eyes.

"Leia mentioned you, said you were an ally. My name is Luke Skywalker, Jedi Master, and this is my wife and fellow Master, Mara Jade-Skywalker." Luke said, lowering his weapon.

"Leia? You mean Senator Organa?" He asked, and Luke nodded.

"Although it's actually Organa-Solo now. She got married after the war." He said, and Ezra's eyes widened.

"The war is over? The Empire is gone?"

At Luke's nod, Ezra let out a whoop and threw his fist in the air.

"Look, I know we just met, but I need a com. I need to contact Lothal, tell Sabine that-"

He stopped talking, terror flying across his face. He didn't even know what day it was. What if years, decades had passed? What if Sabine was gone? What if he never got to tell her-

"Ezra?!"

He turned, feeling a body crash into him. He had to blink to make sure that he wasn't seeing things. Her hair was a dark purple and cut shorter than the last time he had seen her, but the eyes, the voice, they were all the same. Sabine was in his arms, and he did the only thing he could think of. He leaned down and kissed her hard on the mouth.

Sabine's eyes widened for an instant before they closed. The question of where they were or who the two people Ezra had been speaking with could wait a moment. All that mattered was that Ezra was back with her and she swore she was never letting him go again.

"I love you." He said when they finally broke for air, and she smiled.

"I love you too." She replied, still not releasing him.

"I hate to interrupt, but I think Master Skywalker would like to know how we all got into his academy." Ahsoka said from where she stood.

"Ahsoka! You're still alive!" Ezra said, and she smiled, walking over and embracing him with one arm. Sabine still hadn't released him, and it didn't look like that would change any time soon.

"It's good to see you again Ezra. Our apologies for the intrusion Luke, Mara." Ahsoka said, looking at their host's.

"No problem at all. But I would like to know how you all got here." Luke said.

"So would we, and wait...Skywalker. Rex and Kanan mentioned a Skywalker. A general in the Clone Wars." Ezra said, and Luke nodded.

"My father."

"And my-Master?!"

Ahsoka blinked once, then twice. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Lying on the floor, apparently unconscious but still breathing, was her former Master. Anakin Skywalker.

Vader groaned as he opened his eyes. No, not Vader. Anakin. He was Anakin Skywalker. His son Luke had saved him from Palpatine, had proven that he could return to the Light. He looked at his hand, closing and opening it again. It felt warm, felt normal. He took a breath of air slowly, feeling it move through his lungs once more. How long had it been since he had breathed without the aid of his specialized environmentally sealed meditation chamber or the metallic monstrosity that Palpatine had forced him to wear?

"Anakin."

"Ahsoka?" He asked, blinking and slowly taking the hand that was stretched out above him and allowing her to pull him to his feet.

"How are you here? Where am I?"

"You're on Yavin." She said, choosing to answer his second question as she herself still didn't know how to answer his first one.

"Yavin? But how-"

"We don't know. But you are on Yavin. This is my Jedi Academy. Hello Father." Luke said, and Anakin smiled.

"Luke. Thank you. You saved me."

"We saved each other."Luke replied, and Anakin nodded, his smile fading as he saw the woman standing beside his son.

"YOU! Move away from him or I will move you!"

"Father this is-"

"The Emperor's Hand! I know what she is!" He growled, reaching for his lightsaber, only to feel Ahsoka's hand on his arm.

"Anakin stop! She isn't the woman you knew anymore than you are the man she knew. This is Mara Jade-Skywalker. Luke's wife." Ahsoka said calmly.

"Wife?" He asked, staring at Mara intently.

"Wife." Mara replied evenly, her hand on the hilt of her own lightsaber. This man may look like Ahsoka's old Master, but she had only ever known the monster Darth Vader. And if it was Vader that stood before her, she would die before allowing him to harm her husband again.

Then Anakin started laughing. He laughed and laughed, moving his hand away from his weapon.

"I'm sorry but why is your old Master laughing Ahsoka?" Sabine asked, and she shook her head.

"I'm laughing because I'm imagining Palpatine's face. His greatest spy married to the man responsible for his downfall! It's perfect. Nice to see you're still alive by the way kid. You too Bridger." He said to Sabine and Ezra.

"How do you know our names? Is telepathy some weird formerly dead Jedi thing or something?" Sabine asked, and Anakin's smile disappeared.

"No." He said quietly.

"No it's not. At least not that I know of. I know your names because I used to have them on a list. A list of targets."

"Why would you have a list of targets from after the Clone War? You died in that war! You said he died! Rex said he died!" Ezra said to Ahsoka, and she nodded. She paused, and then felt Anakin squeeze her hand. She looked at him, and he nodded.

"Because he did. My Master did die. But he was replaced by a monster. An evil named Darth Vader."
