Note: thanks for reading my story and please leave a comment on your thoughts. I always love to read them. They inspire me to continue to write. I will try and update some more on this story this week since I don't have much study to done (more time for Fanfiction). Enjoy

Naval hospital

Operation nurse Faith Tolliver has just finished with surgery and walks into her office. She is surprised when she sees a man standing in her office dressed in civilian clothing.

"How did you get in here?" she asks the moment she sees him. He is standing with his back to her and look out the window. She is standing near the doorway in case something happens, so she needs help, and she has also left the door open. The man has a friendly smile on his face, and he seems somewhat familiar to her, but she can't quite figure out from where.

"hey." He says and walks closer to her as he reaches for something inside his jacket pocket. "I'm special agent Gibbs NCIS." He introduces as he shows her his credential. Her heart has started beating fast, and she has been holding her breath, but she is finally releasing it as she realizes he is an agent.

"you work with Agent Sloane?" Faith asks and closes the door. She walks by him and takes a seat at the desk.

"yes," he says and takes a seat when Faith gesture for him to do so.

"I work with your mother, Jack."

"you know?" Faith asks, surprised. Gibbs nods.

"she told me about you and the happy circumstances." He says and nods towards her small, barely visible baby bump. "she is very happy for you and proud of you." a small smile comes up on Faith's smile.

"you and agent… Jack," Faith corrects herself now that she knows Agent Gibbs knows how she knows Jack. "Jack is friends." Gibbs nods.

"Yeah. When was the last time you spoke with Jack?" Gibbs asks and gets into business.

"Is she okay?" Faith immediately responds, concerned.

"I don't know. Jack left her office without her badge and with her weapon."

"does it have something to do with my father?" she asks, concerned.

"no. I don't think so. We are investigating a case that might be related to Jack's deployment in Afghanistan. Has she told you anything about that?"

"no." Faith says, confused. "I mean. I know she served in the army. She was an officer. Actually, she is the reason why I wanted to work at a naval hospital." Faith admits with a little smile. Gibbs notices she look over at an empty spot on the desk.

"I used to have a photo of her here in my office." Faith admits.

"used to?" Gibbs asks for clarification.

"Yeah, it was bizarre. There was this man. his mother was being treated for cancer here at the hospital. I was the one who broke the news for him that his mother was terminally ill. One day after he had sat at his mother's bedside for a while, he came in here. He had a few questions, but he was busier starring at my picture of Jack and me. Jack gave it to me about a year ago. It was from the day I was born. A few months back, Jack told me what my father did to her. I… I printed out a picture of her from her Facebook, where she was in her army uniform. I wanted to remind myself of how tough and strong she is."

"she doesn't want anyone to see her as a victim," Gibbs says with a smile. Faith nods.

"no, she sure doesn't." Faith says with a sad smile. "I look at the picture of her whenever I have a patient who is a rape or abuse victim. It reminds me not to look at them as victims but more as worriers." It makes Gibbs smile. He sees so much of Jack in the young woman sitting in front of him.

"so, where is your picture now?" Gibbs asks after a moment of silence.

"I don't know." Faith says and looks up again. "I think, but I don't know if he took it. It was bizarre. He came into my office almost every time he came to visit his mother and just stared at my picture of Jack. I once asked him why. He told me he had a girlfriend in the army, and she looked almost like my mother."

"did you ever tell Jack this?" Gibbs asks as he is writing the information down on his notepad.

"I called her yesterday. We were supposed to mee to coffee today, but Jack canceled about 2 hours ago.

"okay. do you still have the frame?" Gibbs asks. Faith look confused at him.

"yeah, but it is empty and broken." Faith gets up and takes out the frame from a cabin and hands it to Gibbs.

"Thanks." Gibbs says. "please let me know if you hear from Jack." Faith nods.

"can you tell me the name of this man? His mother or his name?"

"his mother's name was Tess Holland, I think, and I remember his name was Jonathan, but he told me that his mom and this army girlfriend of his referred to him by Johnny."

"if you see him again here at the hospital, please let me know."

"will do. But his mother passed away about two weeks ago. I haven't seen him since. That was also when my pictures disappeared." Faith explains.

"okay. When did Jonathan Holland first see your pictures of Jack?" Gibbs asks.

Faith look confused at Gibbs but still tries to remember to answer the question. "about two maybe three months ago.

"okay. Thanks, Faith." Gibbs says and then walks out of the office with the picture frame in his hand.

Note: I have difficulties writing Faith since we haven't seen many scenes with her, but still, I feel like I got some idea of her personality from the few scenes on the show. Please let me know if there is something about my portray of her that can be improved. Thank you.
