Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Washed up city. Enjoy the 1100-word chapter. I don't own Batman; DC and a few others do.
Waterspout would never deny he wasn't as smart as someone like Batman, he could be considered a genius… though he was a teen, his intelligence was limited by his age.
He had retreated and watched the cops haul off Penguin and his henchwomen before departing back to the building for the demonstration.
He said his goodbyes to his father, which brought tears to his 'eyes'. Waterspout couldn't even cry as he could feel the tears be absorbed back into his head… the monster who killed his father and fled had robbed him of most of his humanity.
This made him punch the table and rip off the cracked visor before getting to work on fixing it. He sighed and grabbed a blue one, glad his father had put years of work into making sure the inventions would work at least.
A few things Waterspout had spent the hours modifying before allowing the EMTs to take his father and the people away… he would track down whoever killed them. he couldn't grieve them as a human.
But avenging them by bringing down whoever murdered his father and the people present?
He'd settle for good old-fashioned vengeance then. He popped open the gloves and began to modify them.
He could blast water from his own body, he'd modify the gloves to blast water from them. His 'costume' already had a tank around the hips, probably for the purpose of transferring water to the machine if it started to run dry.
He had another idea of making sure his punches had range, but that would take time.
He was interrupted by the sound of footsteps and turned to look at Batman and Batgirl.
"You fought Poison Ivy alone?" Batman questioned while Batgirl blinked.
"Wait, HE fought Ivy?" Waterspout finished modifying the gloves and fixing his mask. he planned on modifying the suit later, glad he at least had his father's intelligence.
"Hmm, plant girl? Made a lot of quips about plants, walked around like it was a jungle? No, I think I fought her cousin." He deadpanned as Batgirl rolled her eyes.
"What compelled you to seek out Ivy… how did you even know she was at the botanical gardens?" Waterspout took a breath, something that his body also didn't seem to register.
It did swish water around, so at least Waterspout could breathe. His brain was still getting used to the fact his body was almost entirely water.
"I don't know, I just felt drawn to her like magic. I have a few guesses on how I can track her… I already know Ivy is planning something when she escaped."
(Subways)
Ivy sat surrounded by her plants, she knew Batman would track her down.
It was why she took hostages. Ivy was arrogant, yes, but she wasn't stupid. Her clash with Batman and Batgirl a few days prior showed her just how much she could underestimate Batman.
Her thoughts turned from the duo to Waterspout, he was new, she certainly hadn't seen him during her debut.
She was somehow aware of him, and could sense he also knew where she was…. Interesting.
She looked at the cops and decided to make her presence known, already having an idea.
(With Waterspout)
"Whatever connection I have with Ivy? I know it's related to my powers; I could sense Ivy and she can sense me; she knows where I am… I." He was cut off by the TVs around showing a breaking news report.
He had forgotten he had turned on one to listen to the aftermath of the day's events.
"Hello, Gothamites… I'm sure all of you know who I am." Ivy beamed while the video showed one of her vines throwing a guard into the wall.
"She took over a tv station?" Waterspout raised an eyebrow while Batman and Batgirl looked at the video.
Batman began to wirelessly trace the signal of the broadcast.
"I am Poison Ivy… Batman? I'm sure your listening along with your sidekick. I want you to know if you don't want these dear citizens of our fair city to get hurt…" she patted the chin of one of the police.
"Your back off. Gotham belongs to the gardens. The same goes to our boys in blue. I demand for the act of building a rec center over the botanical gardens, that's just the start." Ivy pointed out.
"I doubt all she wants is to stop a little destruction…" Batgirl raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, and this is to Gotham's newest superpowered savior or whatever he is. Waterspout? I know you can track me like I'm tracking you. Batman? If you want to see these dear officers alive? Waterspout: ChoroGene headquarters… I believe its time you know how I blossomed into what I am now." Ivy smashed the camera on the ground.
"Well, that answers my question of knowing where I am or not… I'll get going." He stated before turning and starting to walk away.
"Ivy is too dangerous for you to handle, she'll kill you." Batman watched as the teenage hero looked at the helmet he held in his hands.
He stopped crying, and the liquidated tears vanished into his 'face', he'd focus on trying to get his human body back tomorrow.
"Ivy will kill them if you go there. You heard her; she isn't foolish enough to just leave a crawlspace open for you to sneak in. she wants me… those people there? They are going to need Batman… second?" Waterspout asked as he shaped his hand into a blade before it fell apart into his arm again.
"I matched Ivy last time; I'll can do it again… You don't like it? you jump in after their safe." He put on his helmet and sealed the armor piece to his skull.
"And what would your parents think about this?" Batman asked only to be met with a glare from the rookie hero.
"I don't know my mom… but my dad? He's a good man, and if I can't follow in his footsteps as a scientist? I can make sure nobody else gets hurt. You can send me to jail when this is over if you want." He muttered.
