Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Washed up city. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Batman; DC and a few others do.

Waterspout had taken to returning to his father's home, he didn't know why the house was being paid off… he guessed maybe it was Bruce Wayne's final gift to his family.

He resolved to get a job soon, he wasn't a lazy man.

He heard a voice from behind him as his armor encased hands flew over the keys on the computer. he wanted to figure out what his father was involved with.

The fact that his father made an energy converter for water couldn't be the only reason the man was shot and killed, was it?

"Commissioner Gordon said you wanted to speak with Ivy again." Batman stated, Waterspout hummed and lifted up his arm.

He tried to mold the water within to a shape, a blade, a massive fist… he managed to get it into a blade for a second before it collapsed before reforming into his fist.

"I have a connection to Ivy I can't explain. I don't know if it's magical, related to the powers we got, or something else. I can sense her and she can sense me… unless you have a scientific explanation on why me and Ms. Green thumb can't seem to be mentally ripped apart? I have to hear it from the grapevine." Batman ignored the lame joke at the moment before Waterspout stood up.

"I know how dangerous Ivy is. I keep experimenting with my powers and the results? They scare me, I'm trying to see if I can stretch out my body to reach something across the room, or form weapons. You can see how well expanding my arsenal beyond water blasts… I know how dangerous Ivy is, because she's like me." Waterspout stated, he turned and walked into the next move.

Batman remembered hearing from a conversation he had with the police after Ivy was caught how through the mutation was.

He couldn't drink liquids, they'd get absorbed into his mass like sludge and dissolve slowly, he demonstrated by drinking a milk shake they had gotten him.

He couldn't cry either, meaning he wasn't able to let out emotional pain normally. Batman wasn't a psychiatrist, but the way Waterspout sloughed, he used humor a lot more then someone like him would use, mostly to deflect pain.

He sighed and went to contact Gordon. He knew the man didn't entirely trust Batman yet… but he doubted Gordon wouldn't allow it… after all, Ivy had enough security to stop an army… alone with Bane, Freeze, Joker.

That didn't stop them from escaping, mind you, but Arkham was still thinking of ways to stop Ivy from controlling plants.

(3 hours later)

Batman was quick to usher Waterspout into the room as the other inmates balked and ranted. He even ignored Joker's usual banter.

Waterspout was greeted with Ivy, separated from him by a glass wall… strapped to a strait jacket and gurney. Her arms were handcuffed behind her back for good measure… one motion of her body could summon plants.

Waterspout was starting to realize why some patients resented the asylum, but said nothing.

"I'm touched you came to see little old me again." Waterspout leaned on the wall to look at her.

"You're feeling the pull again, aren't you?" He asked, Ivy gazed through her mask, another measure to keep her from infecting someone with spores.

"So, you do have the pull… yes, I am, even when I'm locked in a padded room with no way to see anything? I can sense you, even though the rock and stone and glass." He hummed and sighed before rolling his eyes.

"You know the GCPD has an entire report on you. your smart, like me, could have gotten a degree in botanical science… yet you chose to hire a mercenary to destroy companies hurting plants." Waterspout stated, Ivy looked up at the ceiling.

"I would think someone smart enough to be a scientist would know hiring a mercenary would be a very stupid idea." Ivy looked at him.

"You act like you haven't done the same… or did you not once help the police bust a group of people dumping oil in the ocean?" Ivy stated, a raised eyebrow greeted her as the villainess smiled.

There was no way for her to know… so, how did she? Did she know who he was? What he was?

"This connection goes deep like the roots of a tree. I don't have the slightest idea what it is, but it is there. You feel it as well." Ivy watched Waterspout lean on the glass to look at her.

"You know Arkham won't hold me. I've been here a few days and I already know that." Ivy explained while Waterspout hummed and nodded.

"And I'll fight you the second you do… but I know there's still a spark of good in you, even you have morals, despite how twisted they are. You don't want money, power, fame, you want the plants to survive, you're just doing it wrong, and in the last place that needs it." Waterspout watched Ivy raise an eyebrow.

His tone was clipped, as if he was mad someone so gifted could be so cruel and monstrous. It reminded her of how Barbara had continued to stand by her despite her elevating from simply sabotaging machines to hiring Temblor.

Who tried to murder Ivy and Barbara, Ivy had run into the building and left her friend at the mercy of the man? Yes, that was what happened.

Ivy always rationalized that Temblor would go after her and leave Barbara alone.

"I want you to know before I agree with you. nature doesn't deserve to be ripped apart, poisoned, burned down and all manner of destruction inflicted upon it… but your still human, even if you hate mankind, Ivy? Your still one of them. I want nature to live as well, but I'd never murder and kill for it." Waterspout stepped back into the shadows of the room.

Part of him knew Ivy wouldn't change, or didn't wish to since she saw no reason to. She would hurt people, bend them to her will.

But he wanted to believe Ivy was capable of humanity, like him. she still had a soft part; she wouldn't have involved Barbara Gordon if he heard from the man right before leaving.

"We're just see who cracks first." Ivy muttered before Waterspout opened the door.

"Whatever your planning? I'll stop it… you don't have the guts to do what you're saying you'd do." He left the room and Ivy behind.

"I would like to introduce you, Ms. Isley, to Dr. Jonathan Crane, he will be handling your case with great interest." Ivy heard from Professor Strange.

Ivy watched as the brunette-haired man with auburn eyes walked into the room. Ivy already could tell something was… off, about the man. The sinister smile just made it obvious.
