Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Washed up city. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Batman; DC and a few others do.

Ivy hadn't felt pain like the one forcing her to scream, but no noise came, because she forced her lips shut.

Crane growled as he gripped the gurney she was on, she had to scream, had to show her true fears.

"You might think you're a strong flower… but even those strongest flowers wither and die sooner or later." Crane hissed and prepared another douse of his toxin.

(With Waterspout and Batman)

Waterspout was getting used to his powers, controlling water became easier when your body was primarily composed of it.

Still, it was almost impossible for Waterspout to feel normal, his life wasn't normal and he wouldn't have a semblance of normality anytime soon.

He wasn't going to ever have a normal, not now… not again, that died along with his human body.

Batman entered through the upper door; Waterspout was busy cleaning up the remains of what was the portraits around him. he still hadn't finished when he looked at the dark knight.

"You're a lot quieter than I assumed." Waterspout sighed and flexed his arm, he could make it solid like a normal arm… but the trace amounts of bone didn't replace what was taken from him, he wouldn't be able to touch things the same way… and certainly not feel, for his nerves were destroyed as well.

This body was a shell, there was still some human parts, enough to make him not feel totally out of touch with humanity.

But he was far from being human anymore.

"Batgirl called, she said you were still thinking about her." Batman knew he was aware of Ivy.

Ever since the Asylum, he had been keeping an eye on both him and Ivy, the two were linked in a way that wasn't human.

Then again, Ivy was part plant and Waterspout was a hybrid of solid water molecules along with trace amounts of bone and nerve endings.

They weren't exactly human anymore. He also noted the connection the duo had. it was far beyond either technological or magic.

"I keep seeing her, in pain. She's calling out to me. Ivy just keeps…" Waterspout's eyes widened as a loud bang in the distance caught his attention.

The smoke came from Arkham Asylum… not Ivy, she'd be far more subtle about escaping, they'd hurt her plants otherwise.

Yes, it was one of the inmates, but whom? Waterspout sealed his helmet back over his head and left as Batman watched the metahuman.

He didn't trust Ivy, she was a bad seed in the garden that was Gotham, but she had a special interest in Waterspout.

If it could redeem her? He had to think about a next move with the girl's future, that meant contacting her family if there was any left.

(With Waterspout)

Waterspout already cleared halfway to Arkham, using his new arms to pull himself there like a massive spider swinging from web to web.

That actually reminded him of a comic, all he was missing was the…

His train of thought was cut off by a blast of ice that almost threatened to engulf his body as he landed in the courtyard.

The man in front of him, the ice eclipsing his armor, the cold stare of hatred.

"Freeze." Waterspout settled into a combat stance, a very pathetic one… he had to be careful, his body was made of water.

A single blast of ice would turn him into a sculpture, he'd never get free. He cursed himself for not having an ability to control ice or something that allowed his body to shift the molecules within it.

Still, it was time for a fight. he blocked an ice beam with a blast of water, he watched the droplets freeze and fall to the ground.

"That all you got, ice man?" He fled up the railings, dodging another ice blast that almost grazed him.

He sighed and felt his breath almost freeze to the mass of his body, he couldn't also get close, he was getting out ranged easily… Freeze had the advantage of being able to force him to run.

He needed to close the distance, if he didn't? his body would be slush, and he didn't feel like dying again.

He flipped over the railing; it became easier to move when you didn't have to worry about breaking your legs as they impacted the ground.

Freeze looked at him as he faced off with the walking snowman. He glared into the eyes of someone who could and would take his life if he could… and looked like he was planning to do so at the very second.

His breath hitched… no, not his, Darren's… a ghost living in a phantom body.

He lunged forward, extending his legs to avoid the attack. he could feel ice speeding towards him as his feet narrowly avoided being frozen.

It was cold… but wasn't going to freeze.

Author notes

Phew, another chapter done! I want to point out that Ivy and Waterspout will be meeting soon… and Scarecrow will be one of Darren's enemies. Next chapter will be in a week or two and will show Waterspout fighting to find Ivy and show the true birth of Scarecrow. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!

Ps: Batgirl won't be updated for a bit.
