Hello most beautiful people in the world,
Hope you all had a very lovely holiday (religious or not) and New Year's. HAPPY 2016!
I've been swallowed by work recently, so haven't had the time I wanted to to get this fic updated. Sossosososososoooo sorry again that it's taken me so long. There's not much that I can say other than I really have been busy and not had the time to write which is why this is so late.
I AM NOT ABANDONING THIS. I'm just a little overwhelmed at the moment, but hopefully I won't be in a couple weeks... *crosses fingers, arms, legs and toes*
Sorry for the wait, hope you like what i've managed to throw together in my few spare moments!
As always, big sloppy thank you's to my new fave-ers and followers: Vampirediarieslover1999, twilightlover427 and TheEvilZebra

Anrheithwyr~ Thanks for pointing that out, hopefully it did improve a bit since then! I haven't reread the beginning in ages because I know if I do I'll want to go back and rewrite it and that won't help with my shit posting! Hope you kept reading and made it here, let me know if you did and what you think now! Cheers for the review.
mint. life~ Thank you so much! Glad you think it's keeping it realistic, even i'm getting annoyed at me with how long this is taking. almost wish it was a fall-in-love-in-2-chapters kinda fic sometimes (but never for very long)! Sorry I've made you wait for so long, but let me know what you think of this chap! xx
Go ahead, enjoy and let me know what you think!

Chapter 36- Avoidance, Scents and Separation
"So, how's everything at home?" Roxanne asked, slipping into the sofa next to Scor.
She'd gotten up earlier than necessary that morning, forgetting that she didn't start the same time as Liv and her other dorm mates did today. She'd gone with them to breakfast anyway, because once she was awake her stomach didn't care that she could go back to sleep. Once she was up, she was hungry, and Weasleys weren't made to ignore hunger. She'd walked back into the common room alone to find Scor lounging on one of their sofas with a letter in his hands. He'd pulled his legs off of the other cushions automatically when she'd come closer.
Aside from that, he gave her no further acknowledgement, he still had his head down reading the piece of parchment in his hands. A small soft smile on his face.
He remained silent as he scanned the final few words, and then offered the parchment to her. She took it from him gently and began to read:
Dearest Scorpius,
Congratulations on getting through to the finals! I wish I were able to come up to watch it, but the Healers have said I should keep clear potentially stressful and hazardous environments, and I know Quidditch matches aren't the most subdued affairs. I've tried to convince your father to go without me but I'm afraid he's being a little overbearing and clingy at the moment. Honestly, Scorpius you must promise me to take him out of the house for a few times at least when you're home. Speaking of which, I do hope you haven't forgotten to pass my invitation on to your friends either. It would be lovely to meet them all again properly without the stress of organising an event. If they cannot stay for the weekend then at least have them join us for tea one afternoon or supper one evening.
How is your school work going?
I hope you're not letting Quidditch distract you from it too much. Your father wanted me to say that he hopes its not girls that are distracting you, I must agree. Although, if there is a girl, son do invite her over this holiday too. It's about time you introduced someone to us, don't you think?
Now then, enough of my blabbering, I just wanted to see how you are. I'm still not over the novelty of your letters home.
Take care darling,
Mum xx
Scor watched as Roxanne's face stretched out into a grin as she read through Astoria's perfect cursive script.
"What's that look for?" he asked, as Rox folded the parchment back up and returned it to him.
"You going to bring a girl home then?" she asked teasingly.
"I'm going to bring you home" he smirked back, "You, the twins and Liv, if you'll all come that is"
"Duh we will, but isn't your mum super pregnant now? I thought she told you about it a while into it, and that was ages ago…"
Scorpius paused, counting back on his fingers. "She'll be eight months within the next two weeks. So she'll still have a month left during the holidays. Not too pregnant for few guests apparently" he chuckled.
Roxanne smiled a little, "Well in that case, of course we'll come. Besides, I bet your mum has some killer baby photo albums to get out"
Scor groaned, "You know what, I may just tell her my friends are busy"
"Don't be a little shit … it sounds like she really wants the company at the moment. "
"Yeah, I think she's getting bored. I mean, she's always had her studio and office at home, but she used to leave for meetings and consultations all the time. Don't even get me started on the shows and research trips. Now they've set up a boardroom in one of the upstairs libraries I don't think she gets out that much anymore"
"Is it really that dangerous for her?" Roxanne asked, concern clouding her features.
"Yeah. No… well I'm not sure. I was a risky birth apparently, because I came so early, and then they said she definitely wouldn't be able to have any more children after me. So her getting pregnant again? It was a huge shock but she's also really worried about it. The Healers say she'll be fine, but I think she's more worried about the baby than herself. I know they haven't done as many scans as they would for a normal pregnancy because in cases like mum's they try not to use magic close to the womb unless absolutely necessary. "
"It all sounds a bit complicated"
"Yeah, I mean I didn't fully get everything out of the conversation. She's memorised all the technical words but I haven't got a clue what half of them are. I should probably do some reading around it all but so far, my understanding of it is she just has to be really careful until she's had the baby"
Roxanne nodded solemnly, "You're aware you also have to be careful with babies when they're born too right?"
A smile tickled his lips, "What? I thought once they were out you just tossed them around? I planned to use the little thing as a quaffle"
"Well, possibly, I mean that might explain you. Bet you got dropped on the head as a kid"
"Hey!"
Roxanne giggled as she darted backwards out of the way of the cushion Scor swung at her. She grabbed a cushion of her own, kicked off her shoes and came at him.
She somehow managed to get one hit in before he could retaliate. Within seconds, they were engaged in a full on war, jumping between chairs in the common room, sending cushions hurtling through the air. Roxanne must have picked up one particularly worn out one because when she swung it at him, harder than you'd expect from a girl of her size, it burst into a cloud of feathers.
He hadn't been expecting such a hit, and the force propelled him backwards a few steps, only then he came into contact with his own school bag, stumbled backwards some more and ended up landing onto the (thankfully cushioned) floor of the common room.
Roxanne laughed, coming to stand over him, feathers stuck in her long dark hair.
She quirked a triumphant brow and before she could get out a smug comment, Scor swept her off her feet.
Literally. ~
Her breath caught in her throat as her legs were kicked out from under her. She fell forwards and didn't even have time to put her arms out. Instead, Scor braced her fall with his hands which caught her at the waist. Not quite being able to stop her completely from crashing into his chest. He groaned a little at the impact, and she just chuckled. It hadn't hurt her but it had hurt him, ah karma.
"Didn't think that one through completely did you?"
"I could have rolled out of the way, but that wouldn't have been fair now would it"
"So instead you remained here to sacrifice yourself for me"
"Yup" he replied, popping the 'p'.
"How sweet" she uttered sarcastically, relaxing into his body. She was now essentially stretched out completely against him. She folded her arms until her hands were on top of one another, resting under her chin. ~
"I'm not a bed you know" he told her as she gazed down at him intensely.
"You're right, much too uncomfortable"
It could get so much more uncomfortable if you keep lying on me and looking at me like that.
He thought, trying to ignore the part of his brain that was so painfully aware that there wasn't a part of them that wasn't touching at this very moment. Even his hands that had caught her at the waist, now rested on her lower back. Her shirt had ridden up a fraction and Scor could feel the heat from her bare skin against his fingertips. It was almost too much. But not quite enough for him to sacrifice this moment with her.
"You've got feathers in your hair, did you know?" he told her, anything to distract himself.
"I'd assume I did, seeing as an entire cushion broke over me."
"You broke it over me"
"Hm, I guess that explains the feathers in your hair then" she reached out with one of her hands, to pick out a small black feather from his hair.
She let it flutter to his side, and returned the hand to his hair, running her fingers through it.
"You know how I feel about my hair being touched" he warned her.
Though in actual fact, Roxanne was about the only person he didn't mind touching his hair.
Shocker.
"I'm just getting the feathers out" she told him, continuing to run her fingers through his hair. Every so often picking out an odd coloured magical goose feather.
"It's getting long" she told him, pulling some hair forwards until it reached past his eyebrow, stretching it to emphasise her point.
"So is yours" he replied, taking his hand away from her waist to pull some hair of hers forwards, it reached over her head, which was resting on his chest and up past the top of his forehead. He could smell the faint sweet fragrance of one of Mel's miracle potions.
"Do you think I should cut it?" he asked her.
"No" she now ruffled his hair with her hand before returning it to the other on his chest. She ignored the death glares he sent in response to the usually prohibited ruffling.
"It's a nice length at the moment. I like it"
"Hm, good. I can't be bothered to book an appointment"
"You could always let me cut it for you" she suggested with a twinkle in her eyes.
"Over my dead body"
She laughed lightly back; short bursts of air escaping her nose.
She closed her eyes, putting her head to one side atop her hands. As if she were going to sleep. She was silent for a few minutes he internally worried she would, he didn't have a good track record with her falling asleep around him.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked, hoping she was still awake.
"You" she replied plainly, eyes still closed, not looking at him.
"What about me?" he followed his heart skipping a little in his chest. Not audibly he hoped.
"I miss you."
"I'm right here."
"Yeah, you are now. That's what I was thinking about. I feel like we haven't had a talk in weeks, and I miss it. I miss spending time with you"
"I miss you too. Not necessarily the getting crushed under your weight bit. But the other bits; talking and hanging out with you. I miss that"
She slapped his chest a little for the weight comment.
"I'm sorry." She told him sounding a little embarrassed.
"Why?"
"For avoiding you a bit" it came out as a mumble, but with only them in the room he heard loud and clear.
"You've been avoiding me?" he was a little hurt, but unsurprised. He'd figured as much. Only he hadn't expected the admission from her.
"Only a little" she mumbled.
"Because of Logan?" Not that it would be for any other reason.
"Yeah. It bothers him, you bother him-"
"Yeah well he bothers me too" he added unnecessarily, knowing she knew already.
She chuckled, "Shut up will you? I'm trying to say something"
"Go on"
"You bother him, and it bothers me that you bother him, but I don't want to fight so I haven't been spending much time with just you and I'm sorry. I don't want you to think that I'm choosing my relationship over our friendship."
"I don't think that" he told her, though really he had questioned it once or twice over the past few weeks.
"Really? What do you think? Because Arianna asked me if that what I was doing yesterday. If I'd picked Logan over you because we didn't seem as close now. We don't even hug anymore"
Now she was looking at him of course, her hazel eyes beginning to swim a little with moisture.
"I think you're trying to be a good girlfriend. I think you're trying to not upset Logan and I understand that. Of course I miss hugging you, and talking to you one on one but if it's what you want to do, I get that. I can respect that. "
"It's not what I want though!" she said louder than their proximity required, tears threatening to spill, "What I really want is for him to stop being so immature about it, or maybe to stop being so amazing with everything else… At least that way it'd be enough to stop seeing him. Did I tell you what he said last time I mentioned you helping with Transfig.?"
She had, he distinctly remembered her shouting about it when she turned up to their tutorial, but he could sense she was in the mood for venting, so he let her.
"No, what did he say?"
"He said, and I quote, 'why don't you ask Freddie? He's older, I bet he's way smarter than Malfoy'. Freddie? As if I could ever get taught anything academic by him. He'd get bored before he was done explaining. And the time before that it was, 'why don't we go over it together?' never mind the fact we're in different Transfiguration classes! Yesterday he had a friend who was suddenly reallyyy good at Doubling Charms, which is bullshit because I know all his friends, and no offence but they're shite at Transfig."
"So he just wants to keep you away from me. Only he's got a not-so subtle way of going about it"
Scorpius summarised, he had seen first-hand how unsubtle Logan could be. He'd always have an excuse on hand as to why they needed to leave whenever Roxanne tried to integrate her friends and boyfriend. Each one as feeble as the last.
"Pretty much, yeah. He's convinced you've got this raging crush on me and he doesn't trust you"
"Kinda sounds like he doesn't trust you, Roxy" he commented, ignoring the annoying fact that Logan was right about how he felt for Roxanne. Though utterly wrong about him as a person. Scorpius valued and respected Roxanne far too much to do anything about it while she was with someone else. Even if that someone else was an insufferable little troll with a jealousy issue.
"I have considered that, only every time I go to bring it up again, he somehow manages to stop me and i just never manage to do it"
"What do you mean?"
"Well, he'll glare at you, or Ly or something and I'll get wound up but in the next moment, he'll say something really cute, or tell me about a date he has planned for us, or he'll kiss me… and I kind of just forget and the anger goes away" she looked embarrassed then, and Scorpius could see how much it was killing her to have to take Logan's jealousy into account so often.
It was completely out of character, Roxanne Weasley was not the type of girl who submitted or went along with things she disagreed with. But then again she was also the girl who allowed her cousin to copy off of her for years and be a generally shit friend because she was afraid of losing a piece of her childhood. Roxanne was the girl who let things slide when it was someone she cared about, who looked past the bad and saw the good in people. Here she was, ranting about her jealous boyfriend, but Scor could tell he would continue to claim that title, because Roxanne was too understanding, and forgiving for anything else. Because other than this, Logan was a saint, and that was what Roxanne focused on- not at this very moment, granted.
"So you haven't told him he's a bit too jealous?"
"No because then I'd end up telling him how much I miss you and I'm not sure how well that would go down" Roxanne was also the girl who hated conflict and arguments. He'd almost forgotten that was key to all this too.
"Hmmm" he sighed a little, noting how it made Roxanne's head move up and down more than his usual breaths were doing. "As much as I dislike the guy I can understand why he might be jealous. I would be too in his shoes…" he started off, sounding as earnest as possible.
"Why though? I've told him how close we are. I've told him were just great friends, but he still insists that-"
"I'm too good looking to be just a friend? If my girlfriend was best friends with a guy as handsome as me; I'd probably be nervous too. That's assuming a guy as devastatingly good looking as me exists. I mean, look at you, you can't even help but fall on top of me. My sexiness really is a curse sometimes" he told her, his face as serious as he could keep it. But her face was changing and that's what he'd wanted. The prior part of their conversation had had her forehead crinkled and eyes watery. He didn't want that.
He much preferred her current expression. The one where she'd roll her eyes at him but be unable to help smiling too. She even let him get away with referring to himself as her best friend. Which was unusual because they all knew it was Dom then Liv, then, well… then probably him.
"No but seriously now, it's okay that we don't hug or talk as much. I know why, and I understand"
Of course it wasn't okay. He missed her so much.
But the twins had reasoned maybe the distance might be good for him, maybe it would help him get over her. Well Lorcan had reasoned that. Ly had told him to try to win Roxanne over. He was still convinced she liked him, though if he walked in now, Scor could see how it may seem that way.
She interrupted his internal reasoning, having mulled over his words, "You promise?"
"Of course" he paused, not wanting the conversation to get any deeper this early in the morning, "We can just start a wild affair the weekend you stay over at the manor instead. There are a lot of rooms we can use" he teased with a smirk.
"You're so full of it!" she punched him as best she could from her angle.
"Oh but you love me for it" he replied, tightening his toned arms around her and squeezing. ~
She laughed and rolled off him the moment he released her. Standing up, she repaired the cushion which meant the feathers in her hair flew out.
"I guess that means you groomed me for no reason then" he said, standing beside her now, running his hands through his hair to muss it up correctly. Scorpius had a certain mess that was acceptable, she couldn't tell the difference but it apparently mattered a lot to him. She was surprised he'd even let her put her hands in it for so long. She straightened up her tie and tucked her skirt back into her shirt as Scor went about the same routine of fixing his uniform. She couldn't help but giggle.
"What?" he asked, checking himself over for errors; he found none. "Did I not get dressed properly or something?"
"No, just laughing at the irony of us standing here fixing our hair and uniform after I was just ranting about my boyfriend being unnecessarily jealous"
He laughed, they were both now aware of how it would look to someone walking in, "It's still unnecessary, because we haven't done anything"
"I laid on top of you for over half an hour Scor. Logan probably wouldn't count that as nothing"
Scor took a step closer to her to grab his bag, and straightened. "Just let Logan know then, if we had been doing anything, I would have been on top" he said, his voice so low she had to suppress a shiver.
"Stop that" she laughed, hitting him.
"Stop what?" he said innocently. "I know we can't hug, but tell me I can at least still make friendly innuendos and flirt with you? I've been at them for years Roxanne, they've gotten better lately too" he grinned with a genuine amount of pride.
"Not in front of him you can't. And no they haven't. If they had, I probably wouldn't still hit you"
"Aw, but that would be way more fun. Also the way I see it, the better they are the more you hit me"
She leaned close to him and pretended to sniff, actually getting another whiff of the heady fragrance that was so uniquely him. So intoxicatingly him. She recovered from it, not letting it distract her from the point she was attempting to make, she scrunched up her face, pretending it was in response to his smell, "Yep, Still full of shit".
"Insult me again and I'll hug you in front of your boyfriend"
"You wouldn't"
"Fine I wouldn't, but I'd manage some kind of retaliatory response" he said, folding his defined arms across his chest.
"Well done, you sound formidable, Scor"
"Yeah, well you missed a few feathers"
Her hands flew to her hair and she patted it, feeling around.
"Ha, made you check!" he replied childishly, walking with Roxanne at his side to the door to exit the common room, surely it was almost time for class.~
The Herbology greenhouse was hot, as usual. Despite the localised cooling charms Uncle Nev let them use around themselves when they were working. Next to her, Liv just took her jumper off, Roxanne noted the idea and did the same.
Halfway through the observation task she and Liv were working through, Olivia put her nose against Roxanne's shoulder, sniffing.
"Rox, tell me you haven't smelled like that all day…" Liv whispered, leaning close.
"Smelled like what? I don't smell like sweat do I?" Roxanne worried, pulling her shirt toward her nose to smell for herself.
"No, Roxy you smell like Scorpius"
"What?" Roxanne asked back, feeling the blush creep up her neck already.
"You smell exactly like him." Liv's brows furrowed, "you're not wearing anything of his are you?"
Roxanne cleared her throat, "No, I was just with him for my free this morning"
"Doing what? You must have been pretty close if I can still pick it up!"
"Oh Merlin, Liv, I was with Logan in Potions last lesson! You don't think-"
"I don't know, I only got it when you took your jumper off, did you have your jumper on then?"
"Yes, yeah I think I did"
"Okay good, don't panic. I'm sure he didn't notice. And even if he did, no way does Logan know how Scor smells"
"Yeah, but he must know I don't smell like Scor smells."
"So if he comments, say you were trying a new fragrance?"
"What if he says he likes it?"
Liv suppressed a snort, "Then you say you didn't because it was too masculine and try not to..." She interrupted herself, "Wait, you never explained why you smell like the one guy your boyfriend hates you being around"
Roxanne groaned at her phrasing, "We got into a cushion fight, I may have fallen on top of him"
Olivia laughed, "For heaven's sake Rox, for how long? An hour?"
"Only half…" she muttered.
"Oh Roxy… You really do miss him don't you?"
Roxanne nodded slightly, she'd already mentioned missing Scor to Liv last week.
"I suppose you still understand Logan's point of view" Roxanne muttered.
"Hey, I said I understood, never said I liked or agreed. I still think he's the jealous type, and Scor is pretty hot, so I get why he doesn't like you hanging out. Maybe you should speak to him though, there has to be some sort of middle ground. He can't possibly forbid you from ever being alone with him. And it's not right, you and Scor have been friends long before Logan showed up"
"He hasn't actually said that, per say. But if I ever mention having been with Scor, for tutoring or something he gets a bit sulky. He does snap out of it eventually and he's not actually asked me to stop hanging out with Scor, I'm just worried that he will, and I don't want to have to make that decision"
"You think it could come down to that?"
"Possibly. I don't know"
"And if it did..?"
"I still don't know. I mean, I really like Logan. We get on so well, and he's so sweet like all of the time, I feel like I don't deserve him sometimes. And he's so patient with you know, I didn't expect him to be like that at the start. But he is Liv. He's genuine and open with me, and I'm getting to be the same with him. It's not love- I don't think it's anywhere near that yet, but it could be, you know? I care a lot about him"
"Even if he ends up making you choose between him and Scor?"
"If he did, if he made me choose…" Roxanne thought about it for a second, for some reason thinking what Dominique's response would be, "Well, then I'd know wouldn't I?"
"Know what?"
"I'd know that it wasn't him, and that he didn't really care about me. I couldn't give any of you guys up for a boy. And if he wasn't able to understand how much you all mean to me, then I'd have to break up with him"
"Which is why you avoid Scor." It wasn't a question.
"Yeah, I don't want Logan to get to the stage where he thinks the only thing left for him to do is to give me an ultimatum. I don't know if he knows who I'd pick. I don't see why I can't have them both in my life"
"You should be able to, in theory… But from how much you miss Scor already, I don't know if you can keep the avoidance up. And if you think that might push Logan, then you might not be able to keep them both"
"My fears exactly…"
Roxanne rested her head on Liv's shoulder and her best friend pulled her close for a few seconds, giving her a quick squeeze.
"Come on smelly, let's not have any of this. Right now, we have Herbology to do. Any other bridges you can cross when or if you get to them" ~
Roxanne was laid back on a common room sofa so very different to the one she'd usually lie on. This one was leather, and cold. But the body at the end of it where she was resting her head was warm and comfortable.
There was a week left of school before Easter and Logan had just managed to convince her to take a break from her pre-holiday work. They'd been in the library for the past three hours, of course at Roxanne's insistence. She really wanted to finish all her fourth year set work for the holidays before the holidays. That way, she would have more time for her OWL work during the break, but also more time off and to see her extensive family. Logan would only tolerate so much though, once he saw that she'd completed her Care of Magical Creatures 'creature profile' on Unicorns and their husbandry, he began to bombard her with little notes trying to convince her to take a break. Not that she minded all that much, her current position was much more comfortable than the chairs in the main library, and Logan was much better company than the librarian. The sound of his voice a thousand times more pleasant than the heavy breathing of the Hufflepuff a few desks away that they'd had to put up with for the past three hours.
Now, her current company had started stroking her hair, it was soothing so long as she ignored his fingers tangling periodically in the curls she hadn't bothered to refresh over the past week. They were now somewhere between the neat perfect curls Mel's potions gave her and the untameable ones she naturally had. Judging by the tangle-factor her boyfriend seemed oblivious to, she should probably top them up soon.
"What are you doing this holiday?" Logan asked her, for the second time.
"Huh?" she replied, only just snapping out of the daze she was in, thinking about hair while staring up at the patterns the sunlight through the lake water cast onto the ceiling.
He patiently repeated himself a third time.
"Nothing much, just spending it at home. I'll probably catch up with Dom, maybe Vic and Ted too. Play some quidditch. Help out at WWW. The usual. Why?"
"Well I'll be going skiing with my parents, I was going to ask if you wanted to come?"
"Oh, wow. That's lovely… But I- uh"
"Don't worry if it's too much, it was just a thought"
"Yeah sorry, I mean I'd love to but I'm not sure how my dad would react to that. Or my mum for that matter. I doubt they'd let me go"
"Understandable. I'm sure my mum wouldn't be the most pleasant holiday companion anyway"
She smiled at that, "I'm not so sure, I mean she seemed pretty apologetic after my surname was dropped."
"You're right, she'd probably jump at the chance to parade a Weasley around the resort"
"Only she'd have to stick a huge label on my back, I'm missing the characteristic ginger hair and freckles you see…"
"Roxanne, she'd stick a label on Harry Potter's back if she thought even one person might miss out on seeing her associate with him"
Roxanne laughed, the mental image of her Uncle Harry covered in name tags being dragged around by Mrs Williams at a ski resort was too comical.
It dawned on her that the days out she'd been secretly planning for them over the holiday wouldn't happen, "You're going to be away the whole holiday then?"
"Mmhm" he nodded sounding as disappointed as she felt, "I'm going to miss you" he told her pressing a kiss to her forehead.
"I'll miss you too." She told him genuinely, her rant to Scor from last week behind her. "But it's only two weeks" she realised, "you can last that long without me"
She smiled up at him and he looked down at her, his mildly adoring expression warming her to the core.
"I'm not sure I can" he told her sincerely, stroking her cheek, her heart fluttered a little and she shifted closer, knowing that she too, would find it hard to go two weeks without him around. ~
A/N:
Soooo...?
I hope you liked the Scorpianne chill time as much as I did. Sorry if the rest of the chapter seems a bit jumpy, I just want to get it to a place where it's Easter because I already have parts of that written and trust me you'll love it!
On another note, who's excited for Scor to become a big brother?!
Just over a month until baby Malfoy's due! I already have a name and sex written in but if you guys give me suggestions/predictions that are better I'll steal them (and credit you and send you mental love, of course)- so get reviewinggg!
And on the topic of guessing, what do you think will break Roxanne/Logan? I know what it is, it's pretty much written, but I want to see if you guys can guess before I get there! ;)
Anyway, hope that you're all well and enjoyed the chap.
Stay excited for things to come because it will keep me excited!
LOTS AND LOTS OF NEW YEAR LOVE,
Cookie xxxxxx
