Welcome to the rewrite of The Rise of Sonic Underground.
(Hopefully this one will be better, the last was...((Gag))...)
Rin didn't think she'd find a new family.
After running from her house when she was six, she had mistakenly fallen down a into sewer.
She briefly remembered a hazy, insect like figure floating above her before everything turned black.
At first she thought she was dead.
When she opened her eyes, the room and cot she was laying on was considerably clean.
She started to panic. She didn't know where she was. Where were her parents? Were they okay? Was she-
A comforting hand was placed on her shoulder. The insect smiled warmly down at her.
"Hello," she said, hesitantly returning the smile. "Are you God?"
The insect (Man?) laughed. "No, no. I'm Farell."
"So, you're not God?" Rin asked, confused. "And I'm not dead?"
He brushed her pastel tipped bangs out of her face. "No, sweetie. Would you like to meet the others? I think they'll like you."
Normally, she wouldn't trust a stranger, but this Mobian seemed to really care for her.
She hopped off her cot and gingerly took his hand.
Many twists and turns later, they found themselves in front of a sewage gate. Farell let go of her hand and opened the door.
Kids of all ages stopped what they were doing and looked at the two. Rin suddenly found the ground to be very interesting.
"Everyone, I'd like to introduce you to our new member...Ah, what's your name?"
"Rin," the black hedgehog blushed.
Someone snorted. "She don't look like much. You sure you want 'er to join?"
Rin's head snapped up. She wasn't sure how she knew who said it, but she found herself scowling at a black hawk.
For some reason, she knew everything about him just by a glance. His past, how he got there, and most importantly, his name.
She swallowed her fear and mustered (Is it bad to say I think of the word 'mustard' when I see this?) all her courage. "I'm not afraid of you, Adler."
Everyone was taken aback. How could this tiny child, whom none of them had seen before, knew who Adler was?
Farell looked at her with a newfound interest. Could she really be one? After all these years?
A green hedgehog with a mess of bangs on his forehead, about Rin's age, bounced up to the black hedgehog. Upon noticing the boy, she slowly came out from behind Farell.
He stuck out a hand. "Hi! I'm Manic!" he grinned toothily.
"Nice to meet you," Rin said, a bit shyly, and shook his head.
For some reason, both hedgehogs felt a connection between them. They shook it off.
"It's nice to have another hedgehog around here!" Manic beamed.
"Aren't there others?" Rin asked.
"Nah, it's just me for some reason."
Farell tried his best not to look guilty. There was a reason Manic was the only hedgehog up until now. He couldn't bring himself to tell the happy boy, perhaps he would when he was older and more mature.
"Farell?" Manic tugged on his sleeve. "Can I show Rin around?"
The adult nodded. Manic smiled, grabbed Rin's hand, and began showing her around.
Soon they stopped for a break.
As Rin sat down, she felt something in her back pocket. She reached back and pulled out something wrapped in paper.
She remembered that her mother had given it to her just before she ran away.
*FLASHBACK TIME Y'ALL*
"Mommy," Rin whimpered as the door pounded, her dad leaning against it, "what's that noise?"
"It's nothing," her mother soothed. Rin looked up and saw tears dripping down her mother's face.
"Mommy, why are you crying?"
"It's nothing." Sobbing silently, her mother gave her something wrapped in paper. "Take this and run, okay? Mommy and daddy will be right behind you."
Rin took the package and shoved it into her pocket. "Why?"
"Just go."
"I can't hold them back much longer!" her dad yelled.
"Go," her mother pleaded. "Go!"
And so Rin ran out of the house, just as the door broke down.
"CITIZENS, YOU ARE COMING WITH US," said the SWAT bot.
Wife and husband embraced each other, hoping for the best for their little girl.
She didn't look back.
*FLASHBACK OVER*
"What's that?" Manic asked.
"My mommy gave it to me before I left," she shrugged, oblivious to what had happened to her parents. She unraveled the tear stained paper. The paper read:
Rin, remember that mommy and daddy love you very much. Don't forget us.
Mommy.
Inside was a strange, microphone shaped medallion. Manic's eyes widened as he reached into his fanny-pack.
He pulled out a similar medallion, this one shaped as a drum set.
"I thought I was the only one who had this," he said softly.
"Maybe they're friendship necklaces?" Rin said.
"Well, they are now," Manic said happily as he put on the medallion, Rin following. He stood up and held out a hand to the other hedgehog, who gladly excepted it.
"Friends?" Manic whispered hopefully.
"Friends," Rin promised with a wide grin on her face.
As they continued down the sewer, neither one noticed the strange purple and green lights around their medallions.
BOOM the first chapter is finished.
I go sleep now. Bye bye.
