Chapter 3. Monopoly.
In early Jumpchain Monopoly was Undoubtedly the single most valuable jump, yes sure the Gauntlet itself didn't give you CP, and nor could I apparently use banked CP in it, but all my out of jump powers were still mine as the Jump doc didn't specify that they won't be available. If I played this right and I would, I'd never have to worry about money in my future Jumps, Ever, except as an origin if needed for perks or items.
Which meant Savant would let me calculate out my moves to the point where me winning was a foregone condition before I even started the game, and Psionics would ensure everybody landed on exactly the tiles I wanted them and myself to land on. Also I was going with a tried and true Jumpchain Monopoly strategy, there was literally no chance I wouldn't end the game with literally everything belonging to me. It wasn't even a question of actually playing at this point.
"You are doing the Jail strategy aren't you?" Jump-Chan asks suddenly appearing as she always does. "Every Jumper always does the same thing, granted it is one hell of an exploit but it becomes repetitive you know."
"It is repetitive because in this version it works, I'm one hundred percent sure this jump was meant to be played this way and is placed as a gauntlet for no other reason than to watch Jumpers freak out over the missed opportunity after they've been spending CP for wealth in every single jump they've been on." I reply.
I was confident in my choices because Savant calculated it down to a near goddamned certainty with the only variables being the card decks even that I could factor in once the entire deck was used once memorising the layout. And the. Using it to my benefit.
"True, it's put there because many jumpers don't realize that shit like this is hidden in many jumps, take for example the Disney Hercules build it lets you become a god of anything you are good at, anything, that for a jumper is huge." Jump-Chan says with a faint smile on their face.
"Hey, Jump-Chan, before I leave can I ask you a couple questions?" I ask hoping to breach a question that was on my mind for a little while now.
"Ask away," she says with the smile still on her face.
"Well, considering monopoly lasts a max of six hours, is there a necessity that every jump needs to last a minimum of ten years in setting?"
"Ehh, depends on the Jump really, at least for me, some insist on a ten year stay in every single jump, I myself go based on length of so called canon events. Take for example th Alladin Jump, other than Jafar there really isn't much to do there, so I let you out if you've sufficiently dealt with Jafar and you want to get out. A jump like Fate legends Greek Myth you could live in for twenty five centuries if you wanted. Hell had you asked you could've stayed in Pokemon for a couple millennia, a year, ten years and a thousand years are basically all the same to me anyways. But if you take Drawbacks you must stay for as long as the Drawbacks Dictate."
"Understood, also do I need to take missions in every jump?"
"Again, optional, but taking missions means you get rewards and CP both of which become Jump Fiat so a good idea is many Cases."
"Thank you, I'll get going now."
Monopoly Gauntlet Build.
Beginning CP:- 0
Drawbacks:-
More Of Them and Too Many Cooks Spoil The Soup. 500.
It seems you have more company... three more players, and they don't seem happy.
Go Directly To Jail, Do Not Pass Go, Do Not Collect $200, and Stop Right There Criminal Scum. 1200.
Oh, dear. The law has its sights on you! You're now twice as likely to land on Go To Jail or receive the Go To Jail card from the Chance pile!
And how have you gotten yourself stuck in Jail after every two turns that you spend out of it? This is madness, I say! Oh.
Oh dear. It seems like Get Out of Jail Free cards don't work for you anymore! (Cannot be taken with Revolving Door Jail)
Shrewd Fellows, Strictly Business, and Trust Buster. 1500
Ah, you've chosen quite the difficult climb to victory! Your three opponents shall be selected from the greatest tycoons in all of history! I hope you've prepared yourself well, because they'll certainly show no mercy!
And thanks to your other drawback, they shall also be joined by three others! So now you must face J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Jay Gould, Cornelius Vanderbilt, and Charles M. Schwab!
Drunkards and Draughts. 300.
Why in the world did you think it was a good idea for everyone to play this game whilst inebriated? That was when I made some of my worst decisions!.
Free Parking. 200.
Oh, my! It seems that everyone can sneak a bit of change from that one parking space... except for you.
Eternal Pauper. 300.
Oh dear! Somehow, they've barred you from collecting your $200 when you land on Go.
Embarrassment. 100.
I understand that this is your least favorite piece you have to play as, but compared to everything else, this can't be that bad, can it?
Total CP:- 4100.
Perks:-
Winning When You Lose. 700
Well, now! It appears you can even collect revenue whilst incarcerated! This is a useful trick regardless of where you are!
The Landlord's Game. 400.
Any other player will now sell you any property they have, regardless of strategy, provided you offer 1.5 times its value. Useful, isn't it? I dare say this would work wherever you went.
Trustbusting. 600
No one, it seems, is willing to come after you for purchasing a full set of properties or railroads. I can't say why. Perhaps you could even get away with deals like that in the future.
Savings and Loan. 500.
It seems the other players trust you enough to let you act as the Bank! This also means you'll be more trusted with money wherever you go – only gross misspending will break that sort of trust.
Home Field Advantage. 500.
My word, you've already got Park Place in your pocket? Who knows, perhaps you'll have a nice place to yourself wherever you go from here as well.
Real Estate. 400.
It appears that any property you buy starts with one House on it! Isn't that wonderful? This will certainly make it easier to acquire property wherever you may be.
Cash Advance. 300.
Well, now! Those three extra $500 bills you're starting with seem useful!
Rainy Day Fund, (requires Cash Advance) 600.
Hohoho! I say, dear fellow, it seems you've started with double the money you normally would! Surely that will count for something! I dare say your economic ventures in the future will be twice as successful as well!
Fast Track. 100.
Ah, here we are! Once every five turns, you can simply hop over to the nearest Railroad, and you can buy it if nobody owns it yet! This will almost certainly make it easier to acquire transportation!
Drunkards and draughts was a bit of a sticking point for Mez before I realised of course that My Endurance was level 4 while they at most were 0. Literally. The shit that would get me inebriated would kill them of alcohol poisoning. My opponents were literally histories most cunning tycoons, On the other hand they were old men who'd get drunk easily. And I on the other hand controlled the dice and had a shitload of extra cash from the beginning.
With savant creating new strategies on the fly and me controlling the dice I spent most of my time in jail, however I still collected rent and used it in conjunction with the landlords Game to first buy up the railroads. And then everything else.
Drunkards and Draughts was enforced by all player doing a mandatory shot every fifth round. I did the mandatory one per five turns. the rest however drunk like there was no tomorrow.they were all drunk as hell after the first dozen or so rounds.
All rolls anyone made were somehow to my benefit, the players frequently landed on my propertie's and paid me rent, I never landed on any of their properties and often had double rolls giving me more bang per round.
With my strategy being buy up every railroad when available and then start buying up property by the colour group I owned every single property, with Hotels on each and the railroads and utilities. I owned everything. Granted I kept elongating the game using my role as Bank giving out loans. Making deals to take property etc.
By the end of the game in six hours everything was mine, the properties, the hotels on said properties, mine, a shitload of money mine, by the end I had literally all the money of the board I could possibly get, I got that by using the bank to give out zero interest loans to the other players. Then stole the money from them by using Rent, when they went bankrupt I brought out everything and then Rinse Repeat, Victory.
Scenario Rewards:-
Stovepipe Hat - This absolutely splendid stovepipe hat! Such marvelous headgear as this provides an extra bit of class with any outfit more appropriate than sleepwear, and people will be far more likely to listen to what you have to say!
Watch - It will not only keep the right time for you at all times, but will also always be fashionable! Dignity is always in season, after all! The shine on it could make a good distraction, or perhaps a good point to focus on. Oh, you want your modern 21st-century digital watch to be refitted for this? Very well! It's even a Rolex now, just as a bonus!
Investment Advice - If you need to make an investment of some resource or another, simply write my name down on something, and I'll appear in spirit to assist! You can count on my expertise to steer you right!
Property Deeds - How much property did you walk out of this game with, because everywhere you go, you'll find yourself holding the deed to land and buildings of equal value to what you've purchased here, as well as receiving a bit of income from them! Hotels don't just sit there and not turn profits, do they?
Free Parking - You've a vehicle or two to your name, haven't you? Well, don't worry about paying to park those anymore – in fact, I do think they'll even let it slide if you park somewhere you shouldn't!
Currency Conversion - I'll be doing a bit of money-changing for you from now on, free of charge! Expect any currency you acquire in one world to transition into another seamlessly! Indeed, do you see those bills you're holding? They're changing right now! You can always trust your Uncle Pennybags, you know!
I could have gotten rover but frankly I didn't want him, I had my Pokemon and rover have no advantages worth having him around and the whole troublesome scamp thing turned me off of getting him, I left him with Pennybags.
And now my useless stash of a few million Pokedollars was worth something. Given a couple thousand got you a high end bike in Kanto it was worth around twice as much as the US dollar which meant one jump in and I was already a millionaire. Billionaire if you considered the property and Hotel chain I now owned. Beleth Chain of Restruants and Hotels does sound impressive. And I got this from what was basically a drinking game that lasted a quarter of a day. And the perks were actually infinitely abusable given that Gold was Currency as I could now operate in any world without any freaking issues whatsoever. Yayy for cheat builds.
"You did very well on that jump, granted it lasted six hours only so,you won't have that little one week break mister, get to jumping." Jump-Chan appears and says.
"No problems I've already gotten my next jump figured out, just need to alter a few things her and there, won't take more than ten minutes though."
"Sure enough, now let out your Pokemon I wanna play with."
The next jump I had chosen was another Resource Gathering Jump a significantly longer one but egg more repetitive than any kind of danger. I was headed into the World of Farmville. Yep you heard me right, the Facebook game that got insanely popular, everyone was playing it and it spawned a million knock-off clones and I was going there. for Fifty goddamned years.
