As promised, Chapter 09 on Friday! I am not sure what this weekend will bring as there are some betas dropping for some games and I lowkey want to try them.
I'm going to try to upload Chapter 10 and 11 over the weekend but I am making no promises as I might get caught up in my games for those two days.
I am promising an update on Monday though!
''Maura! It is a pleasure to see you again.'' Sean greeted the blonde happily when she walked in, standing up from his seat and shaking the woman's hand in his usual polite manners.
''It is good to be back, Sean. I'm happy to see you again.'' Maura smiled back at him, shaking his hand before the lieutenant got to usher them in to the two chair across him at the other side of the desk.
''Take a seat ladies.'' he said, sitting down himself and pointing at the empty chairs. Maura nodded and took a seat, Jane following her lead a bit more hesitant.
''Well if I'd be damned, Rizzoli. I never thought I would see you here again. You here to rejoin the force?'' the man joked with a smile, taking the papers off his desk and stacking them up neatly before putting them in one of his desk drawers.
Jane shifted slightly in her chair, raising an eyebrow at Sean's comment. She turned her head to share a brief look with Maura and turned her attention back to the man at the other side of the desk.
''No, sir. I am here because I am serving the Isles family during their years in office. Mr. Isles sent me along with Maura on her trip here to be with her when necessary.'' the agent said quietly, lacing her fingers together in her lap. The brunettes usual confidence had disappeared and it most likely was noticeable to her former boss as he shot her a kind smile.
''I know, Rizzoli. You are back on the road early though. I saw the shooting on the news, hell I am pretty sure whole America saw the shooting on the news.'' Cavanaugh said with a hearty laugh.
''Korsak was livid when he saw it, he gave me a hard time over it. The man never knew you joined Secret Services, of course neither did you family but Angela didn't come for me as hard. She was mostly just glad to see where you were.''
Jane couldn't help but smile a bit at the thought of her mother, she was pretty sure she had made a scene to her former boss but the man was too kind to her.
''I mean, I haven't exactly been the most outstanding person either. I broke off all contact with my family and my colleagues. I don't think anybody really knew where I would be, and I liked it at the time. The death threats I got, Sean – people broke in to my apartment and left random things behind and they were so good we never caught them. I – the job got to me, and I took the cowards way out. I ran.'' the agent sighed deeply and raised her hand, her thumb and index finger pinching the bridge of her nose as she closed her eyes.
Maura had known there was more to Jane leaving Boston and she guesses the death threats and people infiltrating her home were it. She quietly looked at the brunette who was trying her hardest to regain herself. The blonde reached out and rested her hand on the agents knee, gently rubbing her thumb over the woman's knee.
It took Jane a moment to get back to herself and she was met with nothing but understanding from both Maura and Sean. She dropped her hand and rested it on top of Maura's, the comfort of the touch bringing her back to her senses. When brown eyes opened again she was met by Sean's understanding eyes.
''I know where you were, Rizzoli.'' He said quietly, looking at the former detective – not just one of his former detectives – Jane was one of Boston's finest and he knew damned well what she went through while on the force. Sean understood her need to run, it would have taken a toll on anyone and till this day they still hadn't caught whoever taunted Jane.
The agent looked at her former boss and was at a lack of words, she didn't know what to say anymore. Maura gently moved her hand under Jane's so she could give the guard a reassuring squeeze in her fingers. Jane turned her head to face the blonde next to her and looked straight in to a pair of concerned hazel green eyes. She gave the woman a sad smile, Maura returning the look.
''Why won't you wait outside.'' Maura whispered, knowing how vulnerable Jane must be feeling – sitting in the office of her former boss, discussing why she left Boston.
The agent nodded at her and cleared her throat, letting go of the shorter woman's hand.
''Yeah, thank you Maur.'' the brunette nodded.
''I will meet you outside in a bit, don't make any trouble while out there – alright?'' Maura said sweetly, leaning in and pressing a kiss to Jane's cheek.
The brunettes cheeks ran red from the kiss and she pinched her lips together, turning her head to look at Maura. By the sight of Maura's innocent face Jane couldn't help but smile, trying her hardest to suppress it.
You got it bad, Rizzoli.
''Yeah yeah. I'll stay out of trouble, ma'am.'' Jane said with her voice containing clear amusement, mocking Maura as she stood up from her chair. She turned back to Sean who had a confused look on his face, brow deeply furrowed and eyes puzzled.
''It was nice to see you again, Cavanaugh. I'm just – going to..'' the agent awkwardly pointed to the door behind her over her shoulder, her thumb wiggling awkwardly.
''Yes..'' she whispered awkwardly, giving the man a curt nod before quickly making her way out of the mans office.
Once Maura stepped out of the office and closed the door behind her she scanned the corridor to see if Jane was anywhere, noticing the brunette leaning against the wall a bit further down. The agent had her head tilted down, brown unruly locks covering most of her face. The woman seemed to be looking down at her phone.
''Jane?'' The blonde asked as she walked towards the agent, gently placing her hand on the lanky woman's shoulder.
The agent jumped, a bit startled at the touch. Her head shot up and she looked at Maura.
''Jesus Christ Maura.'' Jane breath out, straightening herself up and putting her phone away.
"You really shouldn't scare me like that, you know that?'' she muttered, her heart beating in her chest.
Maura chuckled, ''Well, I am sorry. I hadn't expected you to be so caught up in your phone.'' the blonde said.
''Yeah, Frost texted me. The agent that replaces me? He had something that he needed to tell me about a man named Charles Hoyt? I don't know what he was on about, something about him being a potential danger. I recognize the name but I can't exactly recall from where, so I had to give him access to my files – maybe he is linked to the shooting at the parade.'' Jane sighed deeply, shrugging her shoulders lightly. Maura gave her a small nod in return.
''That is good, maybe he is linked to it and we can bring him in for what he has done.'' the blonde said.
''However, you are not on duty and your mother is waiting for us, so shall we go?'' Maura added.
''God, yes please.'' Jane said relieved, following the blonde when the woman stepped to the elevators.

''So, you want to tell me what that kiss was about in Cavanaughs office?'' Jane asked quietly, putting on her seat belt.
Maura clicked her seat belt in to place and started the engine of the car,
''That was a kiss on your cheek.''
''Yes, Captain Obvious.'' the agent said with a small smile. ''You know what I mean, Maura.''
''You seemed like you needed it, you were nervous.'' the blonde responded, now pulling out of her parking space and driving away from the police department – back towards the Rizzoli household.
''Thank you.'' Jane whispered gratefully, she had needed it. The women had said no to affection in public but there was no doubt that Maura was able to comfort Jane, which was an achievement on its own. The agent wasn't one to be comforted easily, and regardless of the rules and her head screaming in protest – somewhere she was glad Maura was by her side and wasn't ashamed to do as she pleased.

''You two again?'' Angela asked, faking an annoyed tone when the two women walked of to the porch of her house.
Jane grinned, ''I wouldn't mind leaving in that case.'' the brunette knowing exactly how to get to her mother. She earned a nudge in the arm from the blonde next to her.
''Hey!'' the agent laughed, ''The First Daughter doesn't nudge people in the arm.'' she added, nudging Maura back.
''Ow!'' Maura laughed now, nudging Jane back a bit harder – this causing the brunette to be shoved to the side slightly.
The agent gasped, looking at the First Daughter with wide eyes.
''Oh you are so going to regret that, Isles.'' Jane husked out, reaching out for the blonde who jumped backwards and away from the agents hands.
Angela was still looking at the girls, her arms crossed over her chest.
''Janie, stop teasing the girl!'' the Rizzoli matriarch yelled from the doorway, watching her daughter run after the blonde down the porch.
How was Maura even running in those high heels? Angela wondered, seeing how Maura quickly ran down the steps to get away from Jane.
Maura squealed when she felt Jane's strong arms wrapping around her waist from behind.
''Jane!'' she yelled with laughter. ''Let me go!'' she added, trying her hardest to squirm her way out of the agents tight grasp.
''Never.'' the brunette growled, burrowing her face in Maura's neck and nipping at the soft skin with her lips – peppering the skin with kissed while holding her close. The blonde felt a shiver running down her spine at the action.
''You are paying for almost shoving me down the porch.'' she chuckled, now lifting the blonde from the ground.
''What? No, where are you taking me?'' Maura squeaked, surprised by how easily Jane lifter her off her feet regardless of her injuries.
''Oh Janie, don't you dare!'' Angela called out from the doorway, now walking down the porch to follow the women – but it was too late, her daughter already carrying the blonde to the back yard.
Maura's eyes widened when she saw the pool, gasping loudly. ''No! Do not throw me in the pool!'' she said, squirming harder to try and get loose but it had no effect.
''Oh, I so am.'' Jane said, taking Maura's purse and dropping it to the ground – her arms barely leaving the blonde in the motion. Next was her utility belt holding her gun, badge and phone, dropping down next to the purse.
Angela ran after the girls with no success, Jane ignoring her mothers presence and throwing Maura in to the pool.
The blonde grabbed the agents arm and pulled the woman in to the pool with her, gasping when she made contact with the cold water.
''I am wearing my Zanotti heels, Jane!'' Maura exclaimed, slapping the brunettes arm.
Angela stood a few feet from the pool, with her hand covering her face – ashamed of her daughter.
''Oh, Jane.'' she whispered, more to herself than for the girls in the pool to hear.
''They are just heels, Maura.'' Jane mutters when she sees how angry the blonde really was, reaching out to pull the woman flush against her in the pool.
''They aren't just heels! They are Zanottis and they were 800 dollars!'' Maura said, trying to push Jane away from her – her blood was boiling.
''Hey.'' Jane now whispered, trying to calm down the angry woman in her arms.
''Maur, I'm sorry for throwing you in to the pool.'' the brunette said, craning her neck a bit so she could look at the smaller woman in her arms. Hazel green eyes looked up and a sigh followed.
''Whatever.'' Maura said quietly.
Jane frowned, not looking away from Maura's gaze.
''Don't whatever me, Maura. I'll make sure I can get you a new pair of those heels, alright?'' she asked, Maura's eyes lighting up instantly and a smile crossed her face. Jane smiled in return, happy to see the blondes smile again.
''Good.'' the agent said softly, pulling Maura further in for a gentle kiss on the lips – Angela's presence forgotten by both women.
Maura smiled against the brunettes lips when she broke the kiss. "You're the sweetest.'' she whispered.
''Oh, you bet I am.'' Jane grinned, ''800 dollars for a pair of shoes?'' she added with a chuckle, pressing a kiss to Maura's forehead before trying to help her out of the pool – her eyes now falling on her mother.
''Jane Clementine Rizzoli!'' Angela yelled angrily.
''You immediately go and get this poor woman a set of dry clothes! Are you out of your mind?'' the matriarch yelled.
Maura couldn't help but laugh. ''It's okay, Angela.''
Jane sighed, ''No, it's alright. I should have a spare suit in the car. I'm going to get it so I can go change – go with my mom, she can point you to some towels and dry clothes.''
Maura nodded and followed Angela back to the house.

''A pair of joggers and a tank top? Really Jane?'' Maura whined as she looked down at her attire.
''Yes, really.'' Jane said, ''I can't keep my equipment concealed in joggers, otherwise I would've pulled on the comfy clothes.'' she said with a small pout.
''I hate you.'' Maura pouted, ''These are the most unflattering clothes I have worn in ages.'' she added quietly, running her hands over the fabric of the tank top to straighten it out a bit.
Jane narrowed her eyes, pinching her lips together but then decided she wasn't even in the mood to ask if that was an insult or not. Instead she ushered the blonde out of the bathroom and down the stairs to meet with her mother at the kitchen table.
Jane pulled out a chair for Maura, ''I'm sorry for causing any trouble, Ma.'' she apologized as Maura sat down. The blonde gave her a grateful smile and Jane smiled kindly in return, taking a seat next to her and looking back at her mother who simply shrugged her shoulders.
''It's alright, I put your clothes in the washing machine and I hung Maura's dress to dry outside so she can take it to the dry cleaners like requested.'' Angela responded, looking at her daughter and the woman next to her.
Angela was visibly debating something inside her head and Jane could see it.
''A penny for your thoughts? I can see something's bothering you.'' the agent asked sweetly, carefully watching her mother who now snapped out of her thoughts and looked a bit startled.
''Yeah – erm.'' the woman closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
''I saw you kissing Maura in the pool.'' Angela breathed out so fast Jane could barely make out what she had said.
Maura tensed up besides Jane.
''Sorry, what?'' the brunette herself asked.
Angela opened her eyes and swallowed hard. ''I saw you kissing Maura in the pool.''
This time the voice quieter but calmer and slower.
The agent swallowed hard, brown eyes pleadingly looking at Maura for help. She wasn't out to her mother yet and wasn't sure how well it would be taken.
''Angela, Jane and I. We- she is- well..'' Maura mumbled, not sure how to word it. She was taken aback by the sudden confrontation and she had nothing – her mind actually blank for once. The woman now looked back at Jane, her eyes apologetic.
Jane noticed the red patches appearing in Maura's neck and nodded quietly, this was causing her friend too much stress and she couldn't lie her way out of it – it was up to the agent to fix it.
''Ma, I like Maura – a lot. I know this is new, and it might be a shock but we are still discovering this ourselves. The whole dating thing.. It's complicated and I am sorry for not telling you. I am sorry if this will put you to shame at church, I am sorry if I have disappointing you but I am begging you to not tell anyone and I really – really hope you aren't mad at me..'' the agent rambled out, brown eyes sad – pleading her mother for forgiveness.
''Never..'' Angela muttered silently, Jane whimpering in response.
''Ma, please..''
''Never would I be mad at you for finding love.'' the elderly woman said, giving her daughter a loving smile.
Jane's face dropped, the relief knocking her out for a moment.
''You're not mad, Angela?'' Maura asked confused.
''Of course not! I have never seen my Janie so comfortable with someone. I am just happy she found someone that makes her happy, and a doctor nonetheless!'' Angela said, now brightly smiling at Maura.
''The way Jane interacts with you, she does that with nobody else for as long as I have known her. The way she can relax around you like last night during dinner. My only concern is children. I want grand babies, Jane!'' Angela's gaze switched to her daughter, Jane visibly cringing at the woman's last words.
Maura's eyes widened a bit and she turned to Jane as well, seeing how Jane brought her hands to her face and rubbed it.
''There we go.'' the agent muttered under her breath.
