Resident Evil: Secrets of The Hive

Chapter 1: The Mission

The Umbrella Corporation by Alyssa Ashcroft of The Racoon City News

The Umbrella Corporation is the world largest pharmaceuticals company only rivalled by TriCell. It was founded in 1967 by Lord Oswell E. Spencer (currently retired), Doctor James Marcus (currently MIA) and Doctor Edward Ashford (Died in a car accident in 1968). In recent years, Doctor Alexander Ashford, Edward's Son has ascended to president of the company after the retirement of Lord Spencer, the first president. Under his direction, Racoon City has become the main hub of Umbrella with the grand opening of The Hive. A state-of-the-art facility under the direction of one of Umbrella's chief researchers Doctor William Birkin and an Umbrella Executive named Tommy Nielsen. Doctor Ashford has brought Umbrella into a new age of dominance over their major competitors including TriCell. With the closure of Umbrella Paris, The Hive and in extension Racoon City has become the main focal point for Umbrella. With Umbrella Towers, The Umbrella Academy and plans to do up the old Spencer Mansion in forest already in the works, Umbrella looks to remain in Raccoon City for the foreseeable future.

In Raccoon City Police HQ was the chief of police, Brian Irons on the phone. Chief Irons said, "I am dispatching S.T.A.R.S Alpha Team as you requested Doctor Ashford. They will make sure The Hive is brought back under your control."

Doctor Ashford said, "Excellent work Irons. We don't need anything going wrong so close to the completion of the Code Veronica Initiative."

"Don't worry, my best man Albert Wesker is on the case. He won't let us down." Chief Irons assured Doctor Ashford.

"Good as Lord Spencer nor I will be not be very forgiving if this blows up any further." Doctor Ashford said before he ended the call. Chief Irons wasn't worried. It seemed that only the AI, The Red Queen had gone crazy and that's all. While it was true, he sent Wesker. Most of the others will him were rookies in the newly formed Bravo. Most of the top guys like Chris or Jill remained in Alpha under the command of the newly transferred Enrico Marini. He believed that they were needed. The team Wesker has gathered as the captain were the newly promoted deputy James Shade, inexperienced medic Rebecca Chambers, untested IT specialist Chad Kaplan and general rookies (J.D, Edward Dewey, Brad Vickers, Joseph Frost and Rain Ocampo). Barry Burton was also part of the team as well since Wesker had personality requested him.

An hung over Rain Ocampo was late for the meeting with the Captain on their first mission. She rushed into The Police HQ after sleeping in late, thanks to going out with her childhood friend J.D on the town. Lieutenant Marvin Branagh, the senior officer and the friendliest guy and Rain and J.D's ex-boss in the office was on his way out. He had been their boss before they were recruited into S.T.A.R.S. The Special Tactics and Rescue Service was the elite special forces division under the jurisdiction of the Raccoon Police Department and privately funded by The Umbrella Corporation. They were the last line in defence for Raccoon City and were commanded by Captain Albert Wesker. He said with a smile, "Morning Rain."

"Morning." Rain said darting past him. He shook his head and headed off to where he had been heading. He had recommended Rain and J.D to S.T. new Bravo Team. Rain rushed off towards the meeting room were going to have their first meeting. She was there in quick time and lucky for her Wesker hadn't arrived. She sat next to J.D who somehow managed to arrive before hand and look completely fine despite drinking more then Rain had. He smirked seeing the state she was in. She scowled at him.

The deputy captain James Shade, a rather stern African American man who was friends with Captain Wesker or as Rain heard from J.D said, "Welcome, Captain Wesker is running an errand with Barry Burton so I am authorized to start the mission briefing without them." He had arrived in The RCPD not so long ago. Rain looked around the room and saw Rebecca Chambers (who looked extremely young), Chad Kaplan (who looked like he was useless in a fight) and Brad Vickers (who was an extreme coward). The last two were Edward Dewey and Joseph Frost who had arrived with Shade. They were said to be on loan to The RCPD from Umbrella. They were two generic looking solider types who had not scored well on the police exam. She frowned as the team apart from Wesker, Barry and Shade seemed to be made of terrible people. She would be the first to admit it that she was very violent, bad tempered, and cocky almost to the point of arrogance. And J.D was a goofball though and though. While he was alright, he was not one of the best. Shade continued talking, "Yesterday, The AI of The Hive, The Red Queen sealed the entire building for an undisclosed reason. So, we are going in to shut her down and reopen The Hive in no due time. We be back in time for dinner."

J.D whispered as Shade rambled on something, "Don't you think Rebecca is cute."

She whispered back at him, "I suppose but she is not my type and I doubt she's yours either." After looking over Rebecca. She was cute and way out of league. He gained a gleam in his eyes and Rain knew he would try and who her. She rolled her eyes at his actions knowing he was doomed to failure as Rebecca was going out with someone already. She only knew because she embarrassed herself asking her out. She got back to listening to Shade ramble on.

Elsewhere, Marvin had arrived to where he had been heading. His fellow officer Rita Phillips was already on the scene on edge of the city limits where the forest was. A man laid dead on the floor. A blood-stained brick laid next to him. A girl was being taken away by paramedics. A blond-haired woman who looked like she in shock was sitting on the pavement nearby. Marvin asked Rita, "What happened here?"

Rita reported, "According to a Miss Lennox, the girl we found out to be the student Yoko Suzuki had run out of the forest and chased by this mad man." She indicated the dead man. Marvin looked at him closely and something was off about him. "He attacked her with a strange frenzy and bit into her neck. Miss Lennox managed to whack the man with a brick saving the girl." Neither Marvin nor Rita noticed the supposed dead man twitch.
