Disclaimer:

I do not own The Big Bang Theory.

A/N:

This story is definitely about Sheldon and Amy, but it will be an AU and OOC and will start in 2010.

I got this idea during Memorial Day in my country and the fact that this story can be true to a lot of people in a lot of countries around the world.

The story will revolve around dealing with loss and how it affects someone. If it's a trigger to anyone who decides to read this story, please do it carefully.

I have no intention of offending anyone with my story.

The Italic part is the end of chapter 5.

Chapter 6:

Amy was sitting outside on a bench, soaking the sun while Sheldon was sitting in his office.

They both sighed heavily and thought about the other day. They felt guilty that was easy for them to talk about their loved ones to a stranger, and that weird feeling when they shook hands did not leave their mind.

That warmth they felt, almost as if someone you cherish, hugs you in comfort. And when the thought of comfort crossed their minds they realized that maybe that's what it was; a feeling that there is someone out there that can understand what they are going through and maybe, just maybe, can comfort them in a way that only someone who experienced such enormous loss, can comfort them.

They still didn't know how they will act around each other, but they felt somewhat relieved when they realized that what they experienced was comfort.

It has to be it. they thought in determination.

Both Amy and Sheldon were in deep thoughts for a little while longer before they shook themselves out of their thoughts. Amy went back to her office before her class started and Sheldon went back to his white board.

Amy was surprised she wasn't late to her class after she sat outside for what felt like eternity. She was even 10 minutes early to her class, and she had some time to go over her class one more time and prepare the class for her lecture and she was ready just as her students started to enter the classroom.

"Hello everyone. I am Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler and I will be your lecturer during the summer semester," Amy introduced herself with a smile. Just like that she was sucked into the class and forgot all about Sheldon and the weird feelings she felt, for the remaining of the class.

Sheldon on the other hand, had to try very hard to focus on work, but for some reason he couldn't manage to focus in his work, so after lunch he decided to go home and rest. For the first time in a while, Sheldon felt that he needed some sleep with all the thoughts running in his mind.

Even though he came to realization that the feeling he felt when he and Amy shook hands was comfort, something about that feeling was still bothering him and didn't let him focus on work, so he figured that going home and get some rest could help him refocus.

Sheldon sent Leonard a quick message that he's going home early and that he shouldn't wait for him at the end of the day.

When Leonard got Sheldon's message his first thought was to stay the night at Raj's or Howard's place, since he thought that Sheldon was sick and he didn't want to deal with a sick Sheldon, but he then remembered their conversation this morning, and knowing Sheldon he had a feeling that Sheldon was pretty engrossed in the events of the previous day, so he texted him back.

Is everything alright, Buddy? Do you need me to come home? -L

I'm fine. I just need some rest. -S

Sheldon quickly replied.

Okay. Text me if you need anything. -L

Thank you. -S

Under different circumstances, Leonard would have been glad that he doesn't have to take Sheldon home but at the same time he would have been worried he will have to take care of a sick and even more annoying than usual Sheldon, but after Sheldon told him about Liz and the recent events, he could only imagine what his best friend is going through, and he wanted to be there to help his friend cope with the massive pain that Sheldon has been obviously harboring for years.

When Sheldon got home, he went straight to the bathroom and took a shower since he took the bus from work. Once he was in his pajamas, he contemplated what to do next; he thought maybe playing a video game will help him ease his mind, but he eventually decided to go back to his original plan; going to sleep.

He laid in his bed and tried to fall asleep, but he tossed and turned and couldn't find the right position that will help him fall asleep.

With a heavy sigh he sat in his bed, put his hands on the blanket, looked straight ahead and let his mind run wild even though the only thing he wanted to do was stop thinking for a while. There weren't a lot of moments is his life when Sheldon wanted to stop thinking, but all of those moments were related to Liz, especially at the beginning of their relationship.

He remembered how he was always worried that once she'll get to know him on a deeper level, she wouldn't want to be with him anymore, but she always surprised him and eased his mind. Having a girlfriend never really busied Sheldon's mind so much, but Liz just surprised him from the first moment they met.

He let out a shuddered breath and took out her picture from the drawer next to his bed, and caressed it like he always did when he looked at her picture.

He wanted to talk to Liz, but he didn't know what to say, so he just looked at her photo with a sad smile and kept caressing the frame of the picture. Eventually Sheldon laid back in his bed with the picture clutched to his chest like his life depended on it, and that's how he fell asleep and that's how Leonard found him when he came back home from work.

Leonard contemplated if he should wake him up for dinner, but once he saw Sheldon sleeping with Liz's picture in his arms, he decided to put Sheldon's dinner in the fridge and let him sleep and calm down from the emotional turmoil he's been going through lately.

"Where's Sheldon?" Penny asked as she walked into Leonard's and Sheldon's apartment for dinner.

"He's asleep. He didn't feel well earlier today," Leonard said, hoping that Penny won't try and pry too much.

"Oh god. I'm out of here," Penny quickly grabbed her dinner and left the apartment, and for the first time since he met Penny, Leonard was glad that Penny left their apartment. He didn't want to deal with her questioning at the moment. He had strength in him to keep Sheldon's secret, but he also knew himself well enough and knew that Penny had a strong influence on him, so the fact that she chose to leave their apartment because she was scared that Sheldon is sick, made it easier for Leonard.

It was 9:00 pm when Sheldon woke up after he slept for the majority of the afternoon and evening. He was ready to sleep through the night, but he knew he had o eat something, even if it was something light, so he went to the kitchen to grab something to eat.

Back in the living room, Leonard was watching TV when Sheldon came out of his room.

"Hey buddy. How are you doing?"

"A little better."

"Your dinner is in the fridge." Leonard said, urging Sheldon in a way, to eat something.

Sheldon nodded at his friend and took out his dinner and heated it up.

Once his dinner was ready, Sheldon went to sit in his spot and ate quietly, and Leonard glanced at him from time to time. He wanted to help his friend, but he didn't know exactly, since Sheldon rarely talked about his feelings. It took him years to even tell Leonard about Liz.

Leonard decided to try and talked to Sheldon anyway and cleared his throat as he gathered the courage to address to topic of Sheldon leaving early today, which he had a feeling was related to Liz in some way or another.

"So… um… Sheldon…" Leonard stuttered and Sheldon turned to look at him with raised eyebrows.

"Yes?" Sheldon asked after a short moment of a squirming Leonard, who took another deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose.

"Is everything alright?" Leonard finally asked.

"You've asked me that already and I said that I'm feeling a little better." Sheldon answered, the annoyance in his voice clear.

"I know, I know. It's just that… I'm worried about you. You rarely go home in the middle of a work day. President Siebert has forced you to take a vacation in more than one occasion."

Sheldon sighed deeply. He wanted to yell at Leonard to leave him alone, but deep down he knew that his friend was worried about him, and as much as he wanted to, he couldn't be mad at Leonard for caring about him. Most of the times Leonard will run away from a moody Sheldon.

"I'm fine… I think…" Sheldon answered Leonard's question after a few moments of silence.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Leonard asked cautiously.

"I don't know…" Sheldon answered weakly, busing himself with his food.

They sat in their living room, Sheldon taking a bite from his food from time to time. He wasn't sure if he wanted to talk, and if so then what would he even say, that the weird feeling is not leaving him?

He snorted at his own thoughts which Leonard noticed and turned to look at him.

"I don't know Leonard. It's all too much and too complicated to even explain."

Leonard simply nodded.

"Does it involve Liz?" Leonard asked quietly.

"Yes…"

"And Dr. Fowler." Sheldon said so quietly, that Leonard had to look at Sheldon to see that he heard him correctly.

"What is it, buddy?"

"It's everything that I've already talked to you about, except that I can't shake myself from that weird feeling that I felt when I shook her hand. Earlier today I was convinced that it was comfort…"

"And you don't think so anymore?"

"I think it is, but for some reason I still can't shake that nagging feeling out of my head. It doesn't make any sense to me," Sheldon sighed heavily and leaned against the couch.

"Maybe it shouldn't." Leonard said quietly. He knew his friend and his relations with feelings; there has to be a logical explanation to them. Maybe it was time for Sheldon to leave some of his logic behind.

"Excuse me?" Sheldon looked at him outrageous.

"Maybe it shouldn't make any sense. Whatever it is the you felt, you can ignore it and go on with your life, or try and listen to that feeling and act on it. If you listed to it, what does it tell you to do?"

Sheldon thought about Leonard's advice for a minute and decided what to do about his feelings.

"It tells me that this whole conversation is mumbo-jumbo. There has to be a logical explanation." Sheldon said angrily and went to his bedroom.

Leonard sighed heavily, knowing that talking to Sheldon about his feelings was practically an impossible mission. He just hoped that sooner or later, his friend will let himself feel and not just look for logical explanations to the things he is going through.

Back in his room, Sheldon sat on his bed, breathing deeply and trying to calm himself down. He had no idea what he was feeling anymore, but when he listened to his feelings a few moments ago, they made him think of a certain person. The person whose card is still in his wallet.

Before he even had time to think of his next moves clearly, Sheldon grabbed that card and texted a quick hello to Dr. Fowler.

Right after his message sent the started to panic and hyperventilate.

"What have I done?"
