"Hiccup what are ya doing here?" Merida smiled.

I was visiting Dunbroch for the time being since I've been gone for many months at Berk. I was hoping to get to the games on time just to see Merida after some time away from her.

"I've come to see the beautiful Queen to be." I smiled at her.

I saw Merida blush at what I had said to her, she only smiled at me as she walked up to me holding my hand.

"Aye did miss my wee lamb for a while." Merida smiled.

"So how are you Mer?" I asked her.

She let a sigh out as if she was frustrated with what was on her mind.

"Not good. Aye needs to act more proper to be Queen, not only that my mom is pressuring me to marry someone so that I could have a King at my side." I saw her look away.

"That is why I came here to visit." I told her.

"What?"

"I'm going to prove to your mom that you don't need a King to rule. When I win, I'll let you choose whether you want a King or not." I smiled.

Her faced shined in the light as I told her, she smiled widen as her eyes gleamed. As if the time she had before not being able to have a choice for herself came back.

"Hiccup ya don't have too." Merida spoke.

"Even if this games isn't about winning your hand since you turned your mom into a bear." I winked at her.

Merida groaned as she rolled her eyes at the reminder I gave her.

"Don't remind me." Merida groaned.

"But, I will prove to her you don't need one." I smiled.

"She always told me. Aye can make my choice, but our people will want a King and Queen ruling together. It has always been like that." Merida turned away.

She sighed letting her shoulders sag, her once gleam inside her eyes stopped as I lost my smiled for her.

"It doesn't, I think it's how the next rulers choice should deiced on what happens to her people." I told her.

"Aye want to prove that aye can rule. Most of the Lords sons don't approve of me ruling alone." Merida admitted.

I raised a brow as I crossed my arms across my chest.

"Who told you that?" I asked her.

"Hardie... He thinks just having a woman rule could leave the land weak." Merida spoke.

"Is that what he told you?" I quickly asked.

Merida quickly turned to look at me, surprised but soften her expression as she smiled at me.

"But with ya staying here for now, I'm sure that will change their mind." Merida smiled mischievously in her eyes.

"I'm glad some things haven't changed about you Mer." I smiled at her.

"Aye, ya too wee lamb." Merida took a step closer to me.

This time she took both of my hands into her own, as she stared at my eyes smiling. She eyes linger towards my lips as I felt my heart beat faster. She started to lean in closer as I did as well. But I felt in the back of my head to stop myself from doing so. I pulled away.

"Hiccup?" Her eyes sadden.

"I-it's nothing, I want to show your mom how much you've grown." I smiled.

I didn't expect her to pull me down for a kiss, she pulled my head down as she kissed my lips not wanting to let me go again. I kissed her back as I wanted to give her the same gesture for a long time. After pulling away I could see her blushing as much as I was.

"I love ya, ya wee lamb." Merida smiled.

"I love you too Mer." I finally told her.

We hold each other as if felt like an eternity, not wanting to let go as if we could disappear forever.

"I'm sorry I didn't visit soon." I choked.

"Listen Hiccup, we can't control what happens in our lives. Aye learned that from experience. Ya can only choose to follow ya fate." Merida told me.

I could only smile at her, she is my life and I love her dearly. I can't bear the thought of seeing her upset.

"So, ya have a plan to change my mothers mind?" Merida raised her brow.

"Yes, I do. Possibly could use your help, but I know you can't choose favorites." I teased her.

"Ach! Ya know aye don't follow any rules!" She yelled at me.

I could only laugh as Merida is the same Merida I knew last time we've seen each other.
