The H135-Type 3 helicopter passed through a thick fog above the sea, and from the window, a blue expanse could be seen below. Unlike the view from passenger planes at high-altitudes - here, the wave peaks could be clearly seen as the sunlight dazzled from the surface of the sea while Miyuki Yotsuba thought, How long has it been since I last played in the sea, two or three years, perhaps?
Though if she wanted to visit the sea everyday - all it would take was to ask her father, who would gladly fulfill all her requests - the Yotsuba estate was entirely too far away from any nearby seas as it was located deep in the mountains of the Old Capital. She could have enjoyed the sunbathing lifestyle everyday if she wished, but in all honesty, Miyuki thought that it was merely too wasteful. Although she enjoyed the sea breeze and sunlight, she would rather refrain from them if it meant excessive uses and displays of wealth.
After all, she turned to her left and looked at her companion's resting face, my dear Guardian* dislikes such habits.
Four days ago, she had received a call from one of her father's most faithful servants instructing her to return to Japan as her father had wanted to show her something. Like the obedient daughter that she is, Miyuki decided to end her current tour in Europe and instructed her Guardian to prepare for the flight back. Mildly annoyed that her precious time with her Guardian had been interrupted, she puzzled on the reason why she had been called back. Genzou Yotsuba was not a man who would usually go against his word once it has been given; and though he had twisted the truth, misdirected people, and gave half-answers, he had never lied. Her father had given her his word that she would be given all the time she would like and so, what must be so important that her father would break his word?
Miyuki's mind was brought out from her thoughts as she felt her Guardian stir from his silent vigil. His voice was soft and would have been easily drowned by the helicopter's rotor but inexplicably, it was as clear as if he had spoken in a silent room as he said to her,
"We're here."
Eyes narrowed from under short, untamed green curls as he observed their objective from the curved glass window of their transport. From where he was, he could see its small, black body on a corner of the immense ocean's surface.
"That's... the Bandersnatch... ?"
Miyuki muttered as she saw the dazzling rainbow sheen due to the reflection of the black solar panels. The co-pilot in a dark flight suit who had been on the seat answered quietly and said that there were still 10 minutes before they could land. The helicopter flew an approximate distance of 250 kilometers from Shinkiba to Tokyo and to the surroundings of the large ocean research facility, The Bandersnatch, and landed in a suitable manner.
Miyuki who had never seen anything like it, stared gobsmacked at her surroundings - stunned by the overly majestic sight. Anyone who had ever laid eyes upon the vessel could never refer to the Bandersnatch as a mere ship. For one, it was too large as on its 1,684.5 feet body stood a small pyramid that was 10 stories tall made completely of cutting-edge vantablack solar panels. The height was over 33 stories tall; it was quite different to read the details from the paper that was sent to her by a subordinate, than it was to truly see it for herself. The difference between what she had imagined and what it really looked like was as far as the distance between the Earth and the moon.
The four sided pyramid that they would land next to was covered entirely by black glowing panels that were as large as the vehicle they rode in, covering it like a shell. How much did they spend on this thing?, Miyuki, for all the wealth that surrounded her, couldn't tell. From the documents that she had read on the way to this place, the Bandersnatch's written purpose was for investigation and the mining of precious resources below the seabed off of the Sagami Bay Coast, and after seeing the impossible floating body of this vessel which defied common sense, she couldn't help but wonder if there was something more that was happening here.
"With that person here, there should be no doubt that everything is not as it seems," her favored Guardian confirmed her unsaid suspicion even as his sharp, emotionless eyes traced over every surface and corner.
The mechanized megafloat ocean construct seemed like the next-generation platform for seabed oil extraction funded by the Japanese government's National Maritime Research Institute - that should be the case, but, what was not written within the documents that were given to her was that this mega-vessel was solely owned by Japan's most mysterious and secretive Family, the Yotsuba.
Miyuki took a deep breath inside the helicopter as it slowly descended and stared at her Guardian who nodded at her and readied himself to get off. Perhaps the pilot was an exceptionally skilled veteran as the machine did not seem to sway too much as it landed on the helipad on the Bandersnatch's bridge. She held her Guardian's hand to support herself as she lightly stepped off of their transport when a man in a suit who towered beyond anyone she had ever seen in her short life stepped towards them. Her Guardian lightly tensed beside her and Miyuki could see the subtle glow of bluish-white lines and curves spread on his skin as he prepared for a likely confrontation. Though she was happy to see that her favored companion was prepared to fight for her, she laid a hand on an arm that was covered by glowing tribal tattoos, as she knew that this man who approached them would mean no harm.
After all, why would a loyal servant of Genzou Yotsuba ever lay a hand on his most precious daugther?
The giant of a man who approached them bowed his head with hair stylized in rock-like spikes as close to the ground as he possibly could and said,
"Miyuki ojou-sama, welcome to the Bandersnatch. This must be your newest Guardian?"
"That is right, Gigantomachia."
Miyuki nodded as she directed an imperious gaze on the servant, daring him to say anything untoward upon her favored Guardian. Although he was a servant, Gigantomachia was a loyal follower of her father and thus had rightly been rewarded with immense faith and trust. She may be her father's daughter but her words could not compare to that of his subordinate... at least, not yet. Pupil-less white eyes glared into her own Guardian's luminescent emeralds in a contest of will. She smiled as she saw their spirits flaring and their wills clashed for she knew, when it came to a comparison of whose will was stronger, her Guardian, her Izuku would never lose to anyone - save, perhaps, her father.
After all, her Izuku had not been broken by her.
"... This one, he is the right one Ojou-sama. Truly, my Lord has found you a worthy Guardian at last!"
Jaws covered in rock-like substances crunched and cracked as his lips widened in a delighted smile; a smile that she couldn't help but return. Miyuki Yotsuba had never been an ordinary girl, something that she delighted in as she never did approve of the notion of 'Normality'. Although she was only six years of age, her mind had grown into maturity earlier than most; even as those who are within her generation were still in their nappies. As she grew and her mind matured, so too did her beauty grow exponentially. So great was her beauty that at six, one could not call her anything but ethereal; as if she were a wish and dream come true. It was both a blessing and a curse, as everyone around her, whether they were men or women, would be enchanted by her beauty with only those with the strongest of wills were capable of withstanding her charm and keeping their minds. Her Izuku was the latest in a long line of Guardians, but he was the one who held the longest term of service reaching a year without being enthralled by her beauty. Miyuki knew that he appreciated her beauty, but her Izuku had never allowed that to cloud his mind - and this was the reason why he was her favorite.
"What's your name, Guardian?"
Gigantomachia's voice rumbled like clashing rocks as he smiled even wider when her Izuku never let himself be intimidated by her father's servant's size.
"... Izuku Midoriya."
"... ? Why have you not changed his name, Ojou-sama? Was he not inducted into his station?"
"I decided against it. I prefer his true name than any name that I could come up for him."
Miyuki replied in a gentle yet imperious tone as she defended her decision; like a fairy tale princess born of Royalty issuing a command. She did prefer her Guardian's real name as she felt that it would allow them to bond closer than if she had instead given him a name like so many others within the Yotsuba.
"I understand, Ojou-sama," the giant bowed in deference to her decision before he returned his attention to Izuku. "Izuku Midoriya, I am Genzou-sama's most loyal servant. I was given the name Gigantomachia by my Lord and you shall refer to me with that name. Your actions will reflect upon Ojou-sama and as such, comport yourself like a proper Yotsuba Guardian always should."
Izuku showed no visible emotion in response to Gigantomachia's impassioned statement and yet a tiny nod was given in reply. Her father's titanic servant nodded in satisfaction and raised a leaden hand towards the flight of stairs that could be seen on the heliport and continued,
"Miyuki ojou-sama, please follow me. Your father is waiting."
