~Loud Proposal~

~Merida~

She sat there grouchy, her arms crossed together as her parents were laughing loudly. Hiccup sat across from her shrugging, feeling sorry for her. She scoffed as she rolled her eyes, she heard him laugh.

"Aye, what a great story about ya son Stoick!" Ferguson lifted his mug.

"He's done wonders for our tribe, and I couldn't be prouder." Stoick tapped his mug to Fergus's mug.

The two of them chugged down the ale, as they both slammed it down onto the table. Well, it wasn't too bad, everyone was loud in the Mess Hall. They were all celebrating for… Actually, Merida doesn't even remember why. All she remembered was that Stoick invited them to Berk to celebrate with them.

All she cared about was seeing her wonderful Hiccup again, she couldn't believe she finally got to go back to Berk again.

Another round of mugs was passed around, Hiccup lifted his cup as he sipped his down staring at Merida. Merida looked down at hers as she lifted it slowly. Even if it was close to her nose she couldn't stand the smell of it. Her nose scrunched, as she gagged at the smell. Hearing his laugh again she stared at his green eyes.

She blushed as she couldn't help but smile back at him. She watched him sip on his ale as he smirked back at her. Merida put her mug down not wanting to try that again.

"So… Hiccup?" Fergus stared at Hiccup.

Hiccup stopped as he gulped down his drink pulling the mug away from his mouth.

"A-Ah, yes, your highness?" Hiccup stuttered.

"Any future plans?" He raised a brow at him.

Stoick let out a laugh as he saw the look on his son's face.

"U-uh… Future plans?" Hiccup took another sip.

"Well of course lad! Running the village as Chief with my daughter at ya side." Fergus laughed.

Hiccup spat out his drink as he coughed out whatever ale that went down the wrong pipe. Merida sat there, turning as red as her hair as she looked for her mother for help. Both Valka and Elinor shook their heads, letting a laugh out as they watched their children be flustered.

"Dad!" Merida scolded.

"What? Aye can't ask ya betrothal?" Merida groaned as she laid her head onto the table.

"That is a good question. Right son?" Stoick looked over to Hiccup watching him hide his face.

"Y-yeah, y-yeah… Dad, yeah… I-it's just, u-uhh… Well you know…"

"M-May aye be excused!" Merida was quick to look at her mom.

Elinor opened her mouth to speak before she was stopped by Valka. Valka nodded her head as Merida was quick on her feet walking away. Hiccup tried to follow along with Merida but was stopped by Fergus.

"Hold on lad. Aye have other questions aye'd like to ask ya." Hiccup sarcastically back down as he glared at Merida.

Merida giggled as she waved goodbye at him, getting an 'oh I'll get you back' gesture from him. Merida rolled her eyes as she was able to leave the mess hall.

Merida skipped her way outside as she jumped with joy knowing to be free from the embarrassment that had happened. Eilidh who was waiting outside because of the noise perked her head up as she sniffed the air. She stood up on all fours and walked over to Merida greeting her rider.

"Aye, Eilidh. Aye knew ya be outside, too loud ya?" Eilidh let out a huff making Merida laugh.

"Aye don't blame ya, the drinks they have a smell. Aye, don't even know how Hiccup can drink that stuff!" She gagged.

Merida looked behind her to see if anyone would notice if she would be gone. She smirked as an idea of a nice ride flying in the sky would be nice.

"How about we go for a short ride, aye?" Merida received a small huff as she climbed onto Eilidh's back.

After a short ride to clear her head, Eilidh landed back in front of the mess hall where she groaned. She wasn't ready to go back yet.

"Merida!" She lifted her head seeing Astrid rushing her way to her.

"Astrid? Everything alright?" She eyed her.

"You might want to go get Hiccup." Astrid pulled her inside.

Once inside, Merida had seen what Astrid was talking about. Hiccup was standing from where he was drunk as a sailor, he was shouting and pointing.

"Ooohhhh yeah?" He hiccuped.

"IIIIII defeated a Red Death!" He hiccuped.

"How much did my dad give him?" She stared in disbelief.

"Actually it's not just Hiccup. Stoick and your dad are both in the same condition." Astrid laughed.

"Uggghhh! Fine!" Merida threw her hands up as she walked over to where Hiccup was sitting.

"IIII'llll kick your ass anyday!" Hiccup pointed at the other Viking sitting across from him.

Merida stood behind him with her arms crossed, she smirked as she waited for him to notice her.

"Merida!" Her dad shouted drunkenly.

She saw Hiccup turn around, he smiled seeing her there.

"M-Mer-" He hiccuped.

"Da! You're here!" She laughed.

"Aye've been here." She smirked.

"I-" Hiccup hiccuped again.

"Loooove you!" He slurred.

"How much did ya drink?" She lowered her eyes as she smirked.

"Just-" He hiccuped.

"a little." Hiccup lifted his hand as he looked up.

"Sure." Merida rolled her eyes.

Hiccup sat down as he grabbed her hand pulling it towards his chest.

"I love this beautiful stunning Princess!" Hiccup slurred.

"Until my days ends! I'll go fight any of youuuu!" He hiccuped.

Merida groaned as she placed her other hand onto his shoulder.

"Hiccup!" She scolded.

"I want her to go to Valhalla with me! Or till my days end!" He shouted.

Merida turned her head seeing everyone staring at Hiccup. From some being tipsy to others being as drunk as Hiccup, watching the show.

"Hiccup! Stop it!" She whispered.

"Nooo! IIIII will prove to the godsss, my love for youuu!" Hiccup swayed a bit.

"Hiccup! Aye'm already bethroled to ya, ya don't need to prove anything." She shook him a little.

"Alright, then marry-" He hiccuped.

"Me!" The room became deadly silent.

"W-What?" Merida blushed as Hiccup turned around facing her.

"Staaayyyyy here, with me in Berk!" He hiccuped.

"What did our dads give ya?" She leaned in whispering to him.

"The good ale!" Stoick laughed.

Merida pitched the bridge of her nose, seeing not only did their dads get Hiccup drunk, but they too were drunk. Merida sighed as she pulled on Hiccup's arm pulling him from the chair. Hiccup pulling away trying to prevent her from moving him.

"Hiccup!" She scolded.

"Nooooo!"

"Aye think it's time for ya to go home." She pulled on his arm again.

"N-no... I... Won't gooo home till you say yes!" He pulled his arm away from her.

Merida looked around the room seeing not only her parents smiling at them, but everyone waiting for her answer.

"Stop it!" She grabbed his arm again.

"No! Noooot, tillll you say yes! Marry me!" Hiccup smirked.

"Hiccup, just ugh! Go, let's go!"

"Noooo! Say yes!" She let go of his arm throwing her arms up in frustration.

"Tch! Alright fine! Yes! Now will ya go home?" Hiccup smirked as he laughed.

Merida groaned as the blush she was showing even more. She looked up seeing Valka and her mother both laughing as they clapped their hands together. Stoick and Fergus were either too drunk or drunk enough to start crying. Everyone cheered in the room roaring out congrats to the couple as Merida yanked Hiccup up from his chair dragging him out of the mess hall.

Toothless ran along with Merida helping her out as Hiccup couldn't walk straight.

"Toothless, when aye put him to bed. Shoot me will ya?" Toothless laughed at the two causing Merida to groan.

Great even a dragon thinks this whole situation was funny.

Finally getting to the Haddock house, Toothless opened the door for the door and she helped Hiccup inside. Hiccup's arm was wrapped around her neck as she had one arm supporting his back.

"Hiccup please, just a little bit further." Merida pleaded.

"Whhhaaaat?" Hiccup slurred.

Merida rolled her eyes as she pulled him with her up the stairs. There she opened the door and pulled him inside, having him sit on his bed.

"It's beeed time already?" He hiccuped.

"Yes for ya, ya are drunk and can't even walk." She glared.

"I can walk!"

Merida pushed him back, not going to let him stand.

"Oh no ya don't, aye had enough of ya to deal with!" Merida pointed at him.

"Suuure, you love me." He smirked.

Merida rolled her eyes as she went to unstrap his arm pads. Helping him to get off his armor, so he would sleep more comfortably. Hiccup caused a little fuse but was stopped as Merida pulled his arm back to her. After helping him take off his shoulder pads and the rest of his armor, she let a sigh of relief knowing she was done.

After laying down on his bed, Hiccup grabbed her arm pulling her to him.

"Stay with meeee."

"No, Hiccup. Ya need to sleep."

Merida pulled her arms away as she stared at him, he had fallen asleep.

She opened the door in the morning holding a mug in her hand. She saw him sitting up groaning, rubbing his head in pain.

"Ah, ya are finally up." She joked.

"Haha! Good morning to you too." Hiccup groaned.

Merida shook her head as she walked over, sitting into the chair next to his bed. She hands the mug over to him. Hiccup took the warm mug into his hands, smiling in appreciation to her. He took one sip and gagged, he stared at it in disgust.

"Gothi gave that, she said it'll help with the headaches." She smiled.

Hiccup sighed as he didn't even want to ask what was in it. He pinched his nose as he chugged the whole thing down. After finishing it he shook in disgust and sighed.

"Do ya feel better?" Merida looked at him.

Hiccup shifted around where he would be sitting up against his bed, he looked over to her as he gave a small smile.

"A-a little." He rubbed his forehead.

"Do ya want to know?" He glanced over to her giving an apologetic smile.

"Was it bad?"

"If ya want to shout out to the whole room about ya love for me. Or to the gods, maybe aye shouldn't leave ya alone again." Merida crossed her arms together.

"Oh gods… D-did I say anything… Bad? I-I didn't do anything, did I?" Hiccup rubbed his face with his hands.

"Astrid told me, you were ready to start a fight with another man." Hiccup's face turned pale as he stared at her.

"Don't worry, aye stopped ya before ya did anything ya would regret. But that didn't stop ya from being loud." Merida smirked.

"Oh… Haha… Sorry about that… A-at least I wasn't embarrassing you… Right?" He saw her rubbing her neck as she looked away.

"Oh no… I-I know that look… It's the look that 'Hiccup did something stupid' look." Hiccup pointed at her.

"What would ya like? The whole-"

"What did I do, Mer?" He stopped her.

"N-not only did ya announce ya love for me… But… Ya asked me to marry ya... In front of everyone…" Merida looked at his eyes.

"Oh… Gods…" Hiccup rubbed his face once more.

Merida waited for him to say something.

"Please tell me you took me away before you said anything…" He looked back at her reading her face.

"You didn't…" She nodded her head.

"You said yes… Didn't you?" She nodded her head.

"Oh the gods hate, you must hate me." Hiccup looked away.

"Well for ya not leaving when aye wanted ya to do yes. But… Honestly very sweet ya wanted everyone to know ya love me." Hiccup blushed as she smiled back at him.

"Sooo… Uhh… I-I guess… I-I… M-mer… I'm really terrible at this."

"That's what aye love about ya. Just without the ale involved, aye'm not leaving ya alone with our dads again." Merida smiled.

"I love you too, Mer. I'm sorry for the trouble. I said sorry, right? Well I-I'm sorry again-" She pressed her lips to him shutting him up.

"This is the Hiccup Haddock aye fell in love with." She smirked.

"O-oh! W-well I'm glad that's all done with… I-I guess b-but uh-"

"Do ya ever know when to stop talking?"

"No, not really."

"Well Mr. Dunborch, ya will be stuck with me until Valhalla."

"Hey, that's Mr. Haddock to you!"

She laughed as she kissed him again, forgiving him for all the trouble he put her through. But overall even if he didn't say anything, she would have said yes otherwise.
