The morning sun came through the castle-prison gracefully. The sunlight was like a beacon of hope compared to the desolate nature of this place, Indeed even the guards felt good when morning broke out.
Alexia: *Yawn*
Alexia yawned and got up from her bed..
Alexia: God, It was midday when I went to sleep and now its the next day. Was I asleep for half a day?
She pondered. She walked over to see ben awake laying on his bed. His chains were still on his hands, which signified the guards wouldn't even take them off to sleep.
Alexia: Ben, Have you-
Ben: Oh, a lady? Who are you, again?
Alexia: ….?
Ben: Alex right?
Alexia: Alexia, yes.
Ben: Cool….
Alexia: I think we got off on the wrong foot yesterday. I was really frustrated and kind of Irritable.
Ben: Were you….? I couldn't notice. It seemed like you were always that way.
Alexia: Um, What?
Ben: I said you were always 'that way.'
Alexia: I heard what you said, I just don't understand what you mean
Ben: You are alexia, Correct?
Alexia: Yes…?
Ben: Then that means that you have always been that way.
Alexia: What does that even mean?
Alexia was exasperated. Nothing ben said seemed to make sense.
Ben: So, what were you going to ask me?
Alexia: Hmmm. I was going to ask you if you knew something about this castle? I know it's probably pointless to ask you since well….
Ben: I think I do.
Alexia: Huh, you do?
Ben: Yes. I believe this castle is in the Western province of Maravia.
Alexia: Hmph. I could've told you that. I recognized the smell of the flowers as I was being transported here.
Ben: Yes. But I think there's more to it.
Ben sighed.
Ben: This place was an old fortress that was converted to a castle after the invasion from cunnia.
Ben: This place is along a crucial trade route, so its in interest for any potential enemies among Aetreon.
Ben: Its also among the quartet of cities near the coast. Like I said, It is crucially important to Aetreon.
Alexia: Huh. How do you know all that? You seem like a dunce.
Ben: Uh, I don't know.
Alexia: ( That was kind of weird. It was like he was a different person for a second there.)
*Clank clank clank*
Their conversation was interrupted by the sound of heavy clanking outside of the room. It sounded as if someone was coming near.
*Creek*
The door opened and a knight came clanking in. The knight was covered in grey steel as opposed to the knights who escorted her. To her this signified a higher ranking to this knight.
Knight: Princess alexia…..
He said in a coarse voice.
Alexia: Ah finally, A cavalier.
Knight: Come forth to me.
Alexia: Hmoh.
Alexia walked towards the knight. She walked about 4 feet before stopping within the doorframe, Where the knight blocked her way forward.
Alexia: Do you want to explain to me why I've been thrown in a meager bedroom with an imbecile!
Alexia: You could at least give me a room by myself! I am the princess of this kingdom, you know!
Knight: Quiet….
Alexia: …!
Alexia: Excuse me? Don't tell me to be quiet, sir-
Alexia was rudely interrupted by the dominant knight.
Knight: -We have no privileges for anyone here. We treat all prisoners the same whether they are kings, queens, dwarves or peasants.
Alexia: How crass! I am here as the princess of this land and you would treat me like some commoner!
Alexia exclaimed.
Knight: I am merely a knight, I don't make the laws of this castle.
He replied.
Knight: I am here to inform you of what's going to happen.
Knight: In one hour I will take you to meet our lord, You two will discuss a matter relating to your escape.
Alexia: What is that matter to which you speak of.
Knight: You will find out soon.
Knight: moreover, If you comply you will be taken back to your room, where in 3 days you will be taken back to the capital by an escort force.
Alexia: What?
Knight: You'll be Caesar's problem then.
Alexia: Are you serious? We would transport me all the way here just to send me back?
Knight: …. That is all I'm allowed to say. Goodbye.
The knight turned around orderly style and closed the door. The dust from underneath the turnstiles flew up as he did so, getting in alexia's eyes.
Alexia: Ah.
She lightly wiped her eyes and tried to process the information that had just been dumped on her. Life was certainly becoming authoritarian for her and no matter what she did, It felt like something or someone was never going to change it for her.
