Author's Note:

Thank you for clicking on Star Wars: A dyad in the Force.

The sequel trilogy inspired this fanfiction, but it incorporates few details from the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy. I have seen the movies, read the books, and researched anything else I need to know. I have tried to remain as true to the canon as possible. Our story begins likewise with The Rise of Skywalker, with some flashbacks in time, when needed.

I categorized the Fanfiction as a Romantic-Adventure, but it will include side genres as Friendship, Tragedy, Angst, Humor, and True Love. As you already guessed, our main characters are Rey/ Dark Rey and Ben Solo/ Kylo Ren, but Poe, Anakin, Finn, and a few more will play an important role as well. It's a slow-burn, but this isn't all about love but friendship as well. Of course, some parts will not be canon, but sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the story's sake.

All reviews are welcome. Ask questions, tell me about incongruencies, inform me of typos, or just complain... All reviews are accepted, read, and answered.

Side Note:

The Rise of Skywalker. JJ tried to take us on an adventure we wouldn't forget. I am not here to judge his work or anyone's work. I honestly believe his ideas were great. Though the story was rushed. JJ tried to save it in TROS. He delivered a few poor moments. However, there were a few amazing moments. The journey of Kylo Ren, of becoming Ben. Rey's growing into a Jedi. Poe, Finn, BB8, ... all the characters had a lot to deliver. But we didn't see it happening. True to be told, we can talk about the failures all day long. That isn't the point. I enjoyed all three movies. Yes, they could be much better. But we cannot change the past. Ren would say, "To let the past die!" But again, that would not be helpful.

Now, about the moment we watched Ben die. Stay with me on this for a second. I grasped why JJ ended up killing Ben. Would Ben be able to keep living after all his wrongdoings?

I guess not!

Yet, killing the last of the Skywalker was a bold move. It bothered me. Ben Solo dead. And why did Leia's body disappeared after Ben was gone? I know there have been many explanations for why Leia stayed behind. But none made sense.

Fact: I read the novel. There was a part that wasn't shown in the movie. As Rey was mourning ... Ben's voice came strong with Force. "I will always be with you." (They should have included it in the movie.)

Yesterday I read that Kathleen Kennedy (although her contract was extended until 2021) has nothing to do with Star Wars any longer. Lucas is back directing another trilogy. Showing Solo at a younger age. Though the best part is there is also the idea that actually Ben Solo isn't dead. He didn't die or become a Force ghost. What exactly wasn't revealed?

Anyway, here I am now writing my first Star Wars Fanfiction of what could happen next. Please allow me to add a few scenes before we end up in Exegol. A few scenes that, if were added, would make the trilogy much better. The storyline remains as is through the trilogy. I hope this adventure will give us a more satisfying end. Read around chapter 6 to 10 before giving up. This Fanfiction is considered having hit its starting point at around Chapter 7. ^_^

Edit May/2020: I have to add that the story now has a Beta: thereisaredeemer. I have to thank her for her hard work and for making this fanfiction better. Thank you again. ^_^

Edit November /2020: Unfortunately, due to a busy schedule, the Beta will no longer editing this story. She had successfully edit until chapter 32. I have to thank her again for her hard work. I am still busy these days, but I will slowly edit the rest story. When it's complete, there will be an update.

Summary

The Sith had fallen. The largest part of the First Order was gone. The Resistance had won. However, there were a few more Fleets of the First Order standing through the Galaxy. The resistance must endure a new perilous adventure. The future of the Galaxy rests in the fate of Rey. The girl who had felt alone for all those years on Jakku had been part of a dyad the whole time. And when she discovered that precious connection, that incredible oneness, they ripped away from them. Our Heroes withstand lost battles, war until they reach their ending task. What they hadn't reckoned on was the last Skywalker, the only inheritor of Anakin, Ben Solo. No one was ever really gone. The Force had reached Ben Solo but never took him far away. Leia was to blame. Lethal conspiracies are unveiled, old scores are ready to be settled, and the line between hero and villain is sharp enough to draw blood.

A new Dark Enemy of the Unknown Regions rises, worse than the Sith, worse than Palpatine. Last was set the name of Delkor, he who arose in the Night. His real one remained hidden over the years. He escaped in the North parts of the Galaxy's Unknown Regions, and not much is known about him. The Unknown North suffered from his malice, and they will not utter his name; there, he is known as the Dark Enemy of the Unknown World. He decrypted the powers and the knowledge of all the others, the Jedi, the Sith, turned them to evil purposes, and squandered his strength in violence and tyranny. For he was -still is- desiring the kingship of the forgotten Dark Energy and the domination over the realms, worlds, and planets. There was a connection between the Sith Lord and Delkor, a gift offered by the Emperor himself, a clone hidden and forgotten in the North Unknown Regions.

Enemies at first, allies by choice. Together they can defy their fates. Let their adventures begin...

PART I

「Act 1: Prologue

Shadows of the Past」

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.…

Exegol, 9 ABY.

A figure appeared cloaked in shadow, silhouetted against the enraged lightning. His moves were bizarre, like a technical gait. Next to him were huge glass tanks that contained an odd form of life. They all looked the same. And in front of him stood a similar one. He had wrinkled skin and an oversized bald head. It was Snoke. Palpatine's perfect puppet. He leaned forward, his rotted hand almost trying to touch Snoke's deformed face.

Snoke rose his eyes and gazed at the unspeakably frail figure. They created him only for one reason to serve the Dark Lord of the Sith. "Master!" his voice deep and shaking as he bowed in acknowledgment of Palpatine's power.

Palpatine stepped back, his body dangling from an enormous mechanism that kept him alive. "Snoke," his voice filled with glee, "You are not only my servant. You are the test I created." The Emperor turned and gazed at Snoke. "You'll bring the last Skywalker to me. You... Through my voice will guide him to kill every standing Jedi."

The Emperor's eyes were covered with milky blindness, and vials punctured his neck. He was looking worse than Snoke. And his recent creation would serve him well since his son couldn't aid him in his plans. It was a tricky idea to clone a son from his blood. How could his own flesh rebel against him? Most of the creations were unnatural. Abominations. Though when his son was created, his hope rose. He was perfect. However, he could not will him or corrupt his soul. He wasn't even Force-sensitive, like Snoke. That rotten creature in front of him would be the perfect puppet.

"For a generation, my disciples have labored. Here in Exegol, a world populated by the Sith Eternal, the Dark Side will rise again. The remaining Sith already working to build a fleet that will bring an end to the rebellion." the Emperor continued, his voice uncannily, "You, with my power, will raise the prefect follower who will bring the Galaxy under our command. The last of the Skywalker himself. The grandson of Darth Vader. It's time to corrupt his mind slowly."

Snoke's breath paused completely. Palpatine linked his mind with his. He was only a vessel he would use to get closer to the only child of Princess Leia. Speech returned to him, "As you wish, Master!"

The Emperor smiled indulgently. "Good!" he said, "It is time for the Sith to rise once more. Your task will begin now!"

Ajan Kloss, 15 ABY.

A large tree with a massive trunk reached for sunlight, spreading its branches to shade the clearing. Luke started training Leia there. A large bole of bark had formed around the damage that Leia had caused a few days ago. She stroked her lightsaber and missed slashing into the tree's trunk.

It was years after the Battle of Endor, Luke started training her to become a Jedi. Even with the Force's help, Leia would need a lot of training to become a Jedi. Luke already knew that. But he was taking all the time he needed to train with his sister. They were already sparring for an hour now. Her body was exhausted.

"You know." In a smug tone, Luke said, "when I did this on Dagobah, Yoda was sitting on my feet."

Leia rose an eyebrow, gazing at him. "This is completely unhelpful!"

He was trying to provoke her. "I also did it one-handed!"

He was trying again to teach her a lesson about anger and impatience. What Luke had forgotten was that his sister was a superb strategist. She was not only benefited from a royal education, but she also had the experience. And every action she took was achieved, designed, and executed following a strategize plan even if it affected her own son.

She recalled holding her tiny son in her arms, black hair white skin; he would cry all the time in the early months, especially when he sensed that Han or Chewie was close by. She shared with him: His first steps. His first words. Even the first time, he used the Force to make the toy fly through the room and slam against the wall. Little Ben and his tiny toddler rage.

However, she also sensed in him the darkness. The same darkness that Darth Vader had. She was wrong. The Force inside Ben; indeed, it was as strong as Anakin's. It was not decided yet if it would be part of the dark side. Though, last few years, Leia felt like the darkness was slowly growing inside him. She even dreamt that if she became a Jedi, her son would have the same fate as her father.

She couldn't do it. It would be her failure to watch her only son follow the footsteps of her own father. Everything she worked for and everyone she loved could be destroyed by his hand. That was the reason she had stopped training to become a Jedi. She explained her worries to Luke, and both had agreed that the best solution would be if Luke would train Ben.

She sighed with a heavy realization that: her only way to save her son would be to stay away from him. Luke agreed with her. He could also fill the Force strong within Ben. The young Solo would need guidance to manage to control the Force. Both had concluded to inform Han tonight. It seemed that Leia never spoke to Han about her worries.

The Millennium Falcon beeped, indicating that they were nearing their destination. Chewbacca moaned with insistence as he watched young Solo winning the game once more. He looked at the holochess table troubled. He never understood how Ben managed to win him every time.

"Don't worry," Ben assured the Wookiee as he rushed over and sat on his lap. "I'll share with you the odds of how to win!"

The Wookiee moaned again, placing Ben down and headed toward the cockpit. "Tonight, after dinner!" Ben added with a big smile.

After Ben became four years old, Han would take him with him. The group of three -Ben, Han, and Chewie- were flying through the galaxy on the Falcon following the assignments that Leia gave them. Father and Son shared adventure after adventure with their best friend, Chewie. And it only made young Solo so proud of his father. He one day wanted to be like his father. Flying the Falcon through the Galaxy, with Han and Chewie to meet new adventures.

"Ben, did you got that surged fixed." Han hollered from his seat. He was impressed by how fast Ben could learn how to fix the Falcon. Sometimes he would allow him even to pilot his favorite ship. His only son was as talented as he was.

"I did!" came his little voice strong as he followed Chewie into the cockpit. "I'm the best man you have in your mechanic team," he added proudly.

Han smiled and shook his head. His son, day by day, acted more like him. He would never admit it loudly, but he was proud of that fact. "You need to start picking up with your studies. I'm not sure how long your mother will act cool if you keep acting like your father." Han uttered in a strong tone.

Ben dropped his gaze, a bit irritated. "But, I like being as my father!" Ben admitted, "One day, I'll be piloting Falcon and roam all over the Galaxy."

Ben's words had already melted Han's heart, and he picked up his son and placed him in the pilot seat. "Let's see then If you can land Falcon!" he invoked Ben allowing him to take over.

The Falcon entered a bright space, and they jumped into hyperspace. A few minutes after and they landed in the middle of the base. Chewie roared disapproval. He still thought that Ben was too young to pilot Falcon. "You're just jealous; he can already land Falcon better than you!" Han mocked the Wookiee, causing him to complain more.

Ben couldn't wait to see his mother and narrate her through their adventures. Young Ben never imagine the betrayal he would go through tonight and that it would start from his own mother. He never taught Chewbacca the trick on how to win the game. He remained in his room listening to Han, Leia, and Luke arguing. He was too young to understand that his mother cared about him. That the strategy she was following was only to save him and the people close to her. And at the end of the day, if Leia had to sacrifice her own son - if he joined the dark side- to save the Galaxy, she would.

That night scared young Solo. He heard about truths he never knew. His own mother seemed afraid of him. Afraid of the darkness, he never knew he had. Even his uncle seemed to agree that he had to be taken away to be trained. Taken away from home? Away from Leia, Han, and Chewie? Han would never allow that! Though his last hope shuttered after an hour as Leia convinced Han that it was the best way to "save" him.

It was at that point when Leia and Han started losing their son. The Emperor would slowly found his way into young Solo's mind. He would disguise his voice as Snoke's and slowly day by day try to corrupt him. The Dark Lord knew, and he knew it well. It would take years to seduce Ben to the dark side. And after all, the Sith always wanted their students to be already adults when they were accepted to the dark side. The Jedi order was used to train their apprentice at a very young age. Thinking it would guide them to use the Force correctly.

Maybe if Ben were allowed to remain a bit longer around his parents, maybe if he could be more like his father, the dark side wouldn't have a chance to claim him.

Jakku, 20 ABY.

"I know Rey, Be brave." the mother of the little girl said as she hugged her. She was wearing a blue hood, and her eyes were filled with tears. But she knew to protect her daughter; the only option was to sell her.

"Jakku is a desert planet in the Western Reaches; life is hard here." her father explained, looking worried at her. "But you will be safe here. I promise."

The last memory she had of her parents was watching the Besyyon Legacy flying away and disappearing into the clear sky. She cried loudly for them to return as Unkar was yanking her arm. Yanking her away from the last sight of her parents.

Rey always believed that it was a mistake and that her parents would one day return to bring her home. She didn't remember why they left her in Jakku, but she was sure they would return one day. She recalled a voice promising to return for her, though she could never figure out if the voice belonged to her mother or father, or even both. As she grew older, she deeply knew that her parents had sold her to Jakku's economy for drinking money. But she would never accept that they would not return. She counted the days.

The bitter truth was that her parents were killed by one of her grandfather's assassins, Ochi, after they refused to give him their daughter's location. The Emperor's plans all these years were not as effective as he hoped. His son kept away from him. At first, he didn't care about his unworthy son. But when Palpatine found out that his son was married and had a daughter. The circumstances changed. Rey seemed more valuable than Ben Solo. But he couldn't find the girl. And after her parents were killed, there was no hint left.

As for Ben Solo, that was another major failure. Trying to seduce young Ben in the dark side wasn't that easy. Luke Skywalker, as his teacher, was bringing young Ben back to the light. Surely, some of the seeds were already sowed deeply inside him. And Leia and Han's absence aided in their only son's downfall. However, Palpatine was amused by his strength to fight the darkness. That made him wanting Ben even more. Unfortunately, Luke's last act would push Ben finally to follow the darkness within him.
