A few nights later, the twins were en route to the train station through an alley, when they suddenly stopped. The hair on the back of their necks tingled, and their eyes briefly glowed; there was a new presence in their midst.

"I told you we shouldn't have come to the alley!" Dale said in a strained whisper.

Just then, they heard those heavy footsteps hit the pavement. Their hearts raced, and they slowly turned around.

Standing just a few feet away from them, was the tall, beastly mutant that had been pursuing them all throughout London, and now, France.

Everything about him was menacing; from his cold, dark stare, to his large stature, to his long, black coat blowing slightly in the breeze.

They froze.

He gave them a fang-baring grin. "You two are hard to find."

Delilah held her hands up. "Please…wai…"

Victor didn't even give her a chance to finish her sentence as he charged right at them.

"No wait wait!" she pleaded, as her eyes began turning an icy shade of blue.

But Victor wouldn't be stopped.

Delilah suddenly formed a large ball of ice, which she quickly hurled at Victor; but he caught it and tossed it out of the way.

"Nice try brat." Victor glared as his eyes locked on Delilah.

Seeing Delilah in danger, Dale's eyes turned red and a ball of energy formed in his hand. He shot the energy ball, and knocked Victor down.

Victor righted himself, claws extended. "You sure you wanna play this game kids?" he growled as the teens began backing up.

"Actually, no." Dale said, right before Victor charged at him.

Dale hurled the large ball of energy at Victor; but at the last second, he dodged it.

Delilah formed another large block of ice, and aimed it at Victor, hitting him square in the head, knocking him off balance.

Victor shook his head and growled. "You're gonna pay for that brat."

Delilah tried to speak to him again. "Wait you're not…"

Dale practically knocked Delilah out of the way and shot another energy ball, stopping Victor right before he reached her.

But Victor dodged the energy ball, then grabbed hold of Dale by the throat, and began holding him up by his neck.

None of Delilah's hits were even fazing him.

"No! Stop!" she cried. Fear overtook her so much, that she almost forgot the strange Ms. Merino. Her expression suddenly changed. "Wait! Wait! I know where Alexa Merino is!"

Victor stopped short, his grip no longer tightening on the struggling Dale. He turned around quickly, dropping the boy, but still holding onto his neck. "What did you say?" he asked slowly, in a low voice.

Delilah was shaking. "Ms. Merino, Alexa...we met her…"

"Where?" Victor demanded.

Delilah gestured towards Dale. "You let him go and I'll tell you." She nodded. "I promise."

Victor glanced at the boy, gasping for air. He roughly let him go, shoving Dale away from him.

Dale practically ran to Delilah's side.

Victor slowly approached them. "Where is she?"

"We met her at L'Amour…she said to tell you that." Delilah answered, gesturing towards the street behind Victor.

Victor glared at them for a moment, trying to decipher if they were telling the truth. Then again, if they weren't, how could they know anything about…her.

He looked at them a moment longer, then turned and took off running, without so much as another word.

Delilah took a deep breath of relief, tears finally stopping. "Oh my gosh, it worked." She turned to Dale, a small smile forming on her face. "She was right."

"Yeah well, let's not press our luck." He glanced at his now mangled watch. "Our train to the airport is leaving soon. The faster we get out of Europe, the better."

"Right." Delilah nodded in agreement, and they both ran off.
