Gliding over the city Brooklyn brought Hudson and Goliath back to the apartment roof. It was as abandoned as he left it. The door still hanging open. Taking them down the steps it looked no different. The woman had definitely not come back.
"I don't see any one here Lads" Hudson said.
"Neither do I. Nor do I see any of the things that are usually in human homes. There is nothing here that says this person was living here long term. No food, no kitchen devices." Goliath added.
Looking around Brooklyn didn't see anything new.
"I had thought perhaps she dropped the cell phone she was carrying. But she must have come back for it or she dropped it somewhere as we fought." Brooklyn added.
"Show us there laddie, perhaps we will find it" Hudson told him.
Brooklyn cringed at that. He brought them over anyways because it would have been more awkward to tell him why he would have avoided it.
"I don't see it here either, but... just how did badly were you fighting? There is blood everywhere. And from the smell of it most of it is not yours." Goliath asked him.
"She acted like I was trying to kill her. And she fought like she was going to kill me." Brooklyn said defensively.
"Don't give the lad a hard time. This blood smells like... I don't know. Its not human I can say that for sure." Hudson added compassionately.
"You can stop trying to spare my feelings. I got my ass kicked by a female half my size. I'm never going to live it down when the others hear about it." Brooklyn growled out looking dejected.
"That hardly matters now. We will head back to the castle and see what the others have picked up from the video tapes. And let the rest of the clan know what is going on" Goliath told him.
At mentioning the clan that brought back the thought of her threatening to drag him back to his parents and kick their asses for raising him poorly. And he told them both as they took off to glide back.
"So she at knows what we are. Or the basics at least" Goliath yelled over the rushing wind.
Landing back at the castle a while later they went down into one of the computer rooms. Lexington now helping Xanatos and Elisa with the footage. Lex replayed the footage for them. Goliath raising an eyebone at the interaction.
"She does appear to know Owen or Puck more personally. But It would have been better to survey her more without getting caught and it causing a huge altercation" Goliath told him huffing.
"She picked up on me being there in total darkness. Something that would be hard for even one of us to do. She has to be some sort of Fae. " Brooklyn stated.
"The lad might be lucky to be alive, especially if we consider the burn on your arm" Hudson told the others.
"What burn?" Lexington asked curiously.
Brooklyn didn't offer to show him. It was really getting on his nerves.
"This woman nearly burnt his arm off. But when I talked to her she seemed perfectly charming and enchanting even. No outward signs to let me know she wasn't human." Xanatos added.
Brooklyn growled and walked to the other side of the room. He had assumed she was human as well. That did not turn out well for him.
"When Owen introduced us he gave me her personal name and company name. They make a lot of medical products and are heavily invested in various hospitals." Xanatos puzzled. Pulling up a close up of her face. "Yes this is the same woman. Cordelia Moretti".
"Puck goes by Owen in his human form, you think that's her actual name." Goliath asked.
"Well, we won't know unless we either find her or ask him." Elisa stated.
"Lexington, print out copies of this photo and take the other young ones out with you on patrol" Goliath ordered.
"Ill go with them." Brooklyn started out saying, only for Goliath to cut him off.
"I want you to get your arm checked out before you go out again" Goliath told him.
"Its fine, I will be fine with another sunup." Brooklyn snapped.
"That is an order. Or are you going to keep arguing?" Goliath snapped back at him.
Brooklyn huffed and walked out of the room. He walked down to the infirmary and clumsily wrapped his arm in some bandages he pulled out of a cart. Not bothering to wait for anyone else to help him. Walking around he saw Owen had come back and was hurriedly talking to Xanatos. Before Owen walking off quickly in the direction of the Xanatoses rooms. Xanantos looked up to Brooklyn and gestured with his head. Both following after him. When they got there they saw him hurriedly talking to Fox.
"David! Owen thinks we need to leave, whats going on?" She asked quickly. Juggling a squirming child at same time.
"He has suggested going to one of the safe houses temporarily. However most of them were designed for just a few humans at a time. Not all the gargoyles as well" Xanatos answered her.
"It would be a prudent suggestion to do before we are attacked." Owen stated in his wooden tone-less voice.
"It would be helpful if you could tell us who would be attacking and why" Xanatos said loosing patience.
"For several reasons I can not do that. But I can tell you that my sources are exceptional and I have every reason to believe their veracity." Owen said to him.
Brooklyn snorted at that.
"Is it something Puck can answer that Owen can not" Fox asked him.
Owen said nothing, his face as blank as a Slate.
"What is that suppose to mean Owen?! You are directly in charge of the safety and security of my family?" Xanatos yelled.
"Yelling is not going to make me... or Puck any more able or willing to tell you the details" Owen answered carefully.
"You know I could probably find a few ways to make you more willing to tell us" Brooklyn growled. His eyes lighting up for a second.
"Why are you still here? I thought you were out with the other young males on patrol?" Owen asked in an annoyed tone.
"Hudson, Goliath and I just got back. He sent the girls and my brothers out for a second patrol before daylight" Brooklyn told him. Crossing his arms over his chest under the cloak of his wings.
Owens eyes widened for a second. " I thought the females were staying here to keep Fox company again? They have to come back right now" he said urgently.
"Why?" Brooklyn growled again.
"I am not at liberty to say, but you have to go get them, or have their mates bring them back right NOW!" Owen yelled at him.
Turning to Fox he said "Go get in the safe room now until I come back for you. No one else but me, do you understand?"
Both Fox and David were going to argue with him when voices came over the com system.
"Broadway and Lexington just called in, there is a problem" Elisa spoke through the come system.
"Shit" Owen said cursing under his breath. "You and Alexander are going in the safe room whether you like it or not" And with a very Puck snap of his fingers they vanished with a pop.
"She is going to be pissed about that, as am I" Xanatos said angrily.
"She'll live to be angry at me later. Get the other Gargoyles back here now so I can put the castle in lock down." Owen ordered Brooklyn and Xanatos.
Brooklyn decided that he would deal with the trickster later and bolted down to the com room where the Elisa and Hudson were.
"What's going on?!" Brooklyn yelled.
"The four went out on patrol. They split up and Broadway and Lexington heard Angela and Katsumi say they were being attacked and then their coms went dead." Elisa answered him.
"Im going after them" Brooklyn quickly stated.
"No Lad, Goliath already went, we can't leave the castle any more unprotected than it is." Hudson told him.
Brooklyn roared in anger. He did not like the idea of something happening to half his clan and being told to stay put.
"Hudson is right, what if something happens here with just Xanatos and Hudson here. No offense Hudson" Elias told him.
"No offense lass. He is just worried. Its normal for siblings to be worried about each other" Hudson replied.
"I'm going up top to look around" Brooklyn snapped and headed out of the room.
Meanwhile out on patrol it seemed fairly quiet. Not even any muggings or bne's.
"Angela and I are going to head over to the lower side before we head back to the castle" Katsumi called over the wind.
Gliding south they didn't seem to find anything out of the ordinary for a while. Hearing noises below they looked to each other before heading down. People in china town were running and fleeing. The usually busy market was being turned upside down By a group in dark clothing.
Angela roared and dived down. Knocking a man with a gun away from a small family.
"Leave them alone!" She yelled.
Katsumi had alerted Lexington and Broadway. And then flew down and landed beside Angela. The men who were turning over the market and shooting stopped and turned to them.
"You two defiantly were not what we were looking for, but you'll do" one laughed.
They started firing at the gargoyles. Not bothering at all to be concerned with the humans running and screaming in terror.
Angela jumped and knocked several into the sides of the building they were up against. Katsumi grabbing the end of a dumpster out of the ally and tossing it at another group.
"We need to get the rest away from these people. Its too crowded here, they are going to kill someone" Kastumi yelled to her.
Looking up as to climb there were a whole lot more men on the rooftop and coming from the other streets and allys.
"I think they are trying to trap us" Angela growled to her.
Turning back to back they assumed they were just fighting their way out when several explosions of fire hit the upper sides of the brick. Sending the dark dressed men scattering. Angela and Katsumi saw their chance and started scaling the walls. Halfway up the men below started shooting grappling hooks and nets at them. One snagging onto Angelas' leg causing her to slide down word a few feet before clawing back in and pulling. She shrieked in anger and Katsumi reached to help pull her up. Both sliding down and several men all grabbed onto the end down below and pulled.
"Then they heard someone yell above them. "Duck!" and more explosions. Before someone grabbed onto them both and helped haul them up. Getting to the top the person turned and yelled run before bolting themselves.
"Wait, who are you?" Angela yelled over the noise from below.
"Go damit! If they catch any of us they are going to kill us!" The person yelled.
Running and making a jump for the next building. He or she made that one and kept going. The roof after that farther away and they hit the edge with a solid crack and slide a little. Angela and Katsumi went after the person. Jumping and gliding between the buildings more easily. Both took off gliding. Angela reached down and held out a hand. The person hanging pushed off the building and grabbed on. Flying like that for a little while until they tugged on her arm indicating they wanted down.
The three landed on a nearby roof. The two gargoyles lightly and the person...human it looked like landing and then limping on impact.
"Who are you? And why did you save us?" Angela asked quickly.
Sitting down on the edge of a vent the person stretched a leg before pushing the visor of the helmet they wore up. The visor of her helmet up to be more exact.
"I am a... friend of a friend. I was out looking for the youngest member of my clan... The one those men were looking for. You touching down was just too much temptation for them not to take a shot at you." She answered.
"What friend?" Katsumi asked suspiciously.
Getting back up and walking to the rooftop access the human pulled the door open with a tug, snapping the lock off in her hand. Ok so maybe not so human Angela thought.
"Tell Owen I was right. And go directly back to your castle and keep an eye on Fox and her son for me. I have to go find the rest of my family" The woman ordered before quickly heading down the steps.
They went to follow her but heard voices from above them. Broadway and Lexington had met up with Goliath and tracked them using their phones and com devices.
"What happened" Goliath yelled as he touched down with a crunch of the concrete roof beneath him.
"We saw a disturbance downtown. When we checked it out the humans stopped trying to harass the merchants and shoppers and went after us. But they came armed with those electro nets and Grappling hooks. They would have pulled us back down into the street if some human... well not human but some female hadn't shot back at them and pulled us up" Angela told him softly.
Looking down her leg was oozing blood where the grapple had snagged into her skin. Broadway reached to hold her.
"Then she said we needed to get back to the castle as quickly as possible to protect Fox and Alex. And she is looking for a family member. Oh and also to tell Owen that she was right" Katsumi answered in her smooth soft voice.
"We leave now and head home" Goliath ordered.
"Do you know this person father?" Angela asked drifting closer in as they glided home.
"It is possible that this is connected to the person who got into an altercation with Brooklyn and caused him to miss coming home yesterday" Goliath answered her.
Reaching the castle it was nearly dawn again. Once they touched down the security system activated and went live. The hum of both magic and electricity sending a zip up everyone temporarily. Elisa and the others were waiting for them.
"Are the Lasses alright?" Hudson asked.
"We will be fine Hudson" Katsumi told him with a smile.
"We need to tell Owen, we need to tell him what she said" Angela said quickly. Aware that dawn was approaching fast.
"Who said?" Xanatos asked walking out alone.
"A friend of Owen said to tell him she was right" Katsumi replied.
"About what?" Xanatos asked as the gargoyles all shifted to get ready to turn to stone for the day.
"That is what we all would like to know" Goliath answered.
The Gargoyles turned to stone in the suns rays. Leaving Xanatos to himself. He immediately headed off in search of Owen and found him in the computer lab.
"So a friend of yous ran into the clan tonight. And she had a message for you. She was right. Does that ring any bells" Xanantos asked.
Owen stared at him dead pan. Xanatos stared back.
"Damit why don't you want to you tell me?" He snapped.
"Want has nothing to do with it" Owen replied stone faced.
"You mean you would like to tell me...and can't...or are not allowed" Xanatos queried.
"Correct. However the subject will be able to be elaborated upon tomorrow evening. " Owen explained.
"I guess we will have to wait till then. And in the mean time let Fox back out of the safe room. Ill leave that to you Owen" Xanatos said with a chuckle.
That evening Xanatos was waiting for the gargoyles to awaken.
"How was the castle during the day?" Goliath asked. As the rest woken and stretched.
"Quiet, well from any outside dangers. Fox is furious with Owen." Xanatos told him with a smirk.
The younger gargoyles dispersed quickly with Broadway and Lexington horsing around and making Angie and Katsumi laugh. Brooklyn glided off to a separate turret to ignore them.
With a crackle due to the electrical and magical interference the over com came on.
"Sr, Fox and myself would like you to come down to the large hall" Owens voice stated evenly.
"Is there anything wrong Owen?" Xanatos asked in mild concern.
"No but you and the Gargoyols are going to want to come here and..." Owen cut himself off making a odd noise.
"Excuse me. As I said Fox would like to see you... now" Owen said and cut off the com.
"Lets get this over with so we can go have breakfast" Broadway complained.
The others headed in. Brooklyn stayed crouched on the upper turret. After the last few nights he just wasn't in the mood to go deal with his brothers and sisters. The skin on his arm was now fleshed over and healed. But a large raised pink scar remained. That would be unlikely to ever go away. Gargoyles didn't scar easily. And it was going to stand out. He sighed and slowly worked his way down to the large hall after the others.
Owen stood outside the hall doors. Stony faced as usual.
"I have had legitimate reason to be concerned has come to pass. My source is greatly concerned that...!" Owen cut himself off again gagging.
That got a few looks. Both curious and disgusted. He coughed and started again.
"So as you know Fox is part Fae, like my alter self Puck. Logically it would be wise to assume that she is not the only one of her kind. And as much as I tried to prevent Oberon from causing problems, there are now problems" Owen explained.
"Is one of those problems one that attacked Brooklyn the past night?" Goliath asked.
"I am not aware of that. However there is someone who might be able to explain that better" Owen answered him.
Bronx barked and yipped and pushed past them all into the great hall.
"What's gotten into him?" Lexington wondered.
From inside the hall more voices could be heard. Defiantly not just that of Fox and little Alex. Xanatoses eyes grew wide and he rushed in. Standing with Fox were a man and a woman. The woman was gushing over Alex in Fox's arms and the man was knelling down and rubbing Bronx's ears.
"You have a baby and a puppy?!" The woman asked in amazement.
"Bronx can hardly be called a wee puppy Lass" Hudson called in confusion.
Looking up the man and the woman paused and stared in shock for a few seconds before both straightening. The man was hugely built and towered over everyone save Goliath and Brooklyn. The woman small, her head coming to perhaps Fox's shoulder.
"So David, this is Patrick and Cordelia. Of Clans Mcnamra and" Fox paused looking to the woman, Cora for help with pronunciation.
"Befana" Cordelia answered with a smile.
Reaching to touch Alex ever so gently and inciting a giggle. Before looking up and catching sight of the last one to enter the room. Brooklyn looked up and gawked at her as well. Dropping to a half crouch and quickly putting herself between Fox, Alex and the rest of the gargoyles plus Xanatos and Owen.
"Patrick! That's the one that attacked me the other night! We have to get her and the baby out of here!" Cordeila hissed.
Patrick quickly put himself between the group and the women as well. Growling. Causing gargoyles to hiss and growl back and spread out.
"Wait why would Brooklyn attack you?" Fox asked in confusion. About to walk to David Cordeila sidestepped in front of her again quickly.
"Because he's real stupid" Cordeila answered.
