Chapter 3
Days later….
"We're going to trial" Scottie told Donna the bad news. The other side wouldn't back down and wouldn't settle for the money offered. They wanted more, the other side is serious about taking the company down and taking her personal assets. She's going to lose everything, that's what Donna felt. It wasn't the end of the fight but it feels like it. Donna knows Scottie and Samantha did everything to settle the case.
"What are we going to do now?" Donna asked.
"I'm going there to meet with Samantha and we'll figure out a game plan. We'll cover all sides on how they might want to play this"
"Okay" Donna said with a bit of a hope that she'll get out of this.
"Donna, it's not the end" Scottie was giving her reassurance. Scottie thought this case was going to be simple but it wasn't although she isn't backing down. She'll win the case not because she knows she's a damn good lawyer but because it's Donna, the person whom Harvey cares about the most. Subconsciously, she's doing it for Harvey.
Harvey was working in his office when he got a call that he didn't expect. There must be something wrong for her to call.
"Harvey! What's going on with Donna's case? Tell me you have a plan! She wasn't answering her phone so I figured I ask you." It was Rachel on the line and he didn't expect what she just said. He thought something terrible happened in Seattle or with Mike.
Rachel got a voicemail earlier from Donna saying that her case is going to trial and is asking for her help on it. Donna sounded hopeless but she knows she's in good hands with Harvey, at least that's what she thought. She tried calling Donna right after her meeting with her client but she hasn't been answering.
"I'm not the one handling the case Rach. I'm not in the loop either" He suspected Donna didn't tell Rachel about Thomas not wanting him to handle the case and he can't believe he's the one to explain to Rachel, and also how it's Scottie and Samantha who's handling the case.
"She's in good hands Rachel you have nothing to worry about" That's all he can say to reassure Rachel because he knows nothing more about what's going on.
"I know that, but Harvey, the case is going to trial." Rachel was hoping to get Harvey to help with the case. If only she's in New York, she'll fight for Donna but unfortunately, she isn't and she can't just leave the firm in Seattle, with everything that's going on.
"What?!" Harvey thought Scottie and Samantha would settle the case to avoid going to trial. "Okay Rachel I'll see what I can do" Harvey added. He hanged up and stood up from his desk. It was not a complicated case to be honest so he's not sure why the case hasn't been settled. He's staring at the skyline thinking of what to do. He knows Donna doesn't want him on the case but he can't just be on the sideline knowing Donna's going on trial, especially on something that she didn't really do. She took the fall for her sister. The one thing he loves about Donna is that she'll protect everyone around her, even if it means it's her that gets in trouble. She did it for him when she shredded the memo. He also knows he'll protect her from anything. He promised he wouldn't let anything happen to her and he means it.
With that, he decided to march into Samantha's office to find out what's going on.
"Tell me everything and I mean everything that's going on with Donna's case" He demanded Samantha right away after he entered the woman's office and closed the door behind him.
"You know?!" Samantha was shocked to find out that Harvey knows about the case.
"Donna told me. Now tell me why the hell is this case going to trial?" Harvey was demanding but also pleading at the same time. He's desperate to know everything. He doesn't care about Donna not wanting him on the case. This isn't about Thomas being jealous anymore. This is Donna's life and he wouldn't just do nothing about it.
