Chapter 4

"The other side wouldn't back down. They're adamant that this case goes to trial to take down the company and get anything they can from Donna. Scottie's coming here after business hours and we'll figure out a game plan" Samantha figured Harvey wouldn't stop until she tells him everything.

"Then tell me right away when Scottie gets here" Harvey stated.

He was about to leave when Samantha said something. "I will. And Harvey….you know she would've asked you to handle this case, if it weren't for – "

"I know" Harvey cut her off. He can't bear to hear his name. It bothered him so much. Much more than when Donna dated Stephen fucking Huntley.

He left right away and went back to his office to think about the trial.

"Vanessa, I need you to find something. It's urgent, I need it today". He called his personal investigator that he hasn't done for a long time. This trial is something Harvey can't bluff on and he's not taking any chances especially if the other party is not backing down. The one thing he could do is find something dirty that the other side did. He knows Scottie and Samantha would have done the same and if they can't find something dirty, it only means that the other party has done something dirtier and is really good at hiding it.

"I haven't heard from you for such a long time and you want me to do something within less than a day"

"The reason why I hired you in the first place. I believe in your magic"

"Alright Mr. Specter. I'll call you once I have it and I'll meet you at the usual"

Scottie was already at Samantha's office discussing a game plan when Harvey showed up.

"Thought you'd never show up" Scottie teased.

"Just had to take care of something" Harvey held up an envelope containing files he got from Vanessa and dropped it of the table. Vanessa didn't disappoint and was able to give Harvey what he needed. The two women scanned the files in the folder.

"How the hell did you get these?" Samantha asked. Both her and Scottie tried to find something dirty but they couldn't. She's shocked that Harvey found whatever was in the file.

"You asked her didn't you?" Scottie knows about Vanessa being his personal investigator.

"It's too risky to bluff on this one. I had to ask" Harvey said. Scottie knows what he meant by risky. It means it's Donna who's at risk and he can't just bluff. He needs to have an ace in the hole on this.

"This is good Harvey." Scottie added.

"Listen. Don't tell her that I was in on this."

"Harvey. As much as we want to use this as a leverage. You're the one who can use this to fully persuade the other party to back down"

"Are you crazy? I'm not even supposed to be working on this!"

"As much as I want to say how good of a lawyer Samantha and I are. You're the one who's better at this and you know it." Scottie was pushing him to be the one to leverage the other party. Scottie knows Harvey is the best at closing.

"I agree Harvey. Just do it" Samantha added.

"As long as she never knows"

As much as he hates to do otherwise, the two women were right. The thing he does best is to close and settle. The only reason he doesn't want to do it is that Donna doesn't want him on the case. But if it means the case will be over then he'll do it. It's ironic how Donna doesn't want him on the case and yet he's the one to close it.
