Welcome, Before we begin I would like to tell you:
It's my first fanfiction, even more writing anything public ever... So let me know what you think,
This story is an AU, and may contain possible spoilers. Just know that you were warned.
I don't own Honkai Impact.
And now to the story:
"Honkai Energy is a mysterious substance whose full potential still remains unknown. Previous experiments had shown that it is capable of affecting space-time in most unpredictable ways. If we succeed… the possibilities are frightening..." - Taken from a report by [NAME CLASSIFIED], Chief Scientist of Honkai Research Department, Schicksal.
Chapter - 1 - Prologue:
The night over Schicksal HQ was illuminated by an unnatural purple glow, for people watching from the streets it looked like a bright comet, rising up to the skies. The source of such glow was a sphere containing highly concentrated honkai energy, in amounts capable of destroying the whole city if released.
Using her herrscher form, carrying this dangerous device away from the unsuspecting population, was one of the former Valkyries, warriors founded by Schicksal to defend the world from the threat of Honkai, monsters that were set on humanity extinction. But after learning the truth behind the organization and what they had done, Kiana knew that she had to stop them.
'Then why do you bother with saving these insects now?' a voice echoed inside her head. 'All they did to us, was to cause even more suffering'.
These were not her own thoughts or doubts, but rather the displeasure of a being, sealed within her mind...
That day Schicksal went too far...
In his way to power, the Overseer had tried to control a Herrscher, the most powerful of the Honkai.
Human-like in appearance, they are able to bend the laws of the universe to their will. Just one Herrscher alone could easily overwhelm dozens of valkyries.
With the void core that they had obtained in the aftermath of the second impact, he wished to use it as a catalyst to create an ultimate weapon, but something went wrong. Their attempt had reawakened the Herrscher, which took over Kiana's body and went on a rampage, destroying everything on its path.
Ever since the Second Herrscher was sealed again, it kept invading her thoughts and haunting her dreams, demanding release.
"I'm not doing it for them, I just cannot… stand by and watch, knowing there will be innocents among the casualties!" she gritted her teeth as the machine released another pulse of energy, causing the glowing lines on her hands to spread even more, seeing this she could guess that there was not much time left.
She had to get it as far as possible before it became unstable.
'I won't be able to extract my vengeance on them if you will not stop now!' the voice warned, a golden outline started to form around her eyes.
In the past months, they had come to somewhat of an agreement that maybe humanity did deserve a second chance, focusing the hatred of the Herrscher who had later introduced herself as Sirin, towards something they both wished gone, Schicksal.
"I remember what we agreed upon, but if this thing explodes, it will kill everyone in this city!" Kiana shook her head to try and rid herself from the will of Herrscher that had begun to occlude her mind. "I won't be able to live with knowing that I did nothing just because they were there"
As the glow in her eyes continued to intensify she began to feel the resistance coming from her body, "Sirin please!" she begged. It had been a long time since the Herrscher tried to take over, and to say it didn't end well would be an understatement.
There was silence...
she started to fear that Sirin would just ignore h-'If we survive this, you will let me take control, and we will do everything by my way! I have had enough, they will pay for what they did to me and no one, not even you, will stop me.'
Kiana could practically feel the venom coming from the being, she knew that leaving Sirin unchecked would be catastrophic. Last time the Herrscher had reawakened, she lost her mentor and dear friend. She will not let something like that happen ever again!
But right now she had no choice, if she were to disagree, in their fight over the body they may not be able to send the bomb far enough. If that were to happen then everything will be for naught. "Alright... But you must promise me, that you will not hurt those who have nothing to do with Schicksal."
'...Fine' the Herrscher agreed albeit reluctantly, the resistance Kiana had felt before has lessened, allowing her to gain altitude again.
What she didn't notice was that the glow in her eyes had changed to vibrant blue, as Sirin had released the hold of her power to Kiana.
Maybe later Sirin would have claimed to do that just to get this over with faster, but deep down, she had started to care about this girl. Her unyielding belief in goodness of humanity had reminded her of the times when... no, that life has long since been forsaken, she will not try to remember it. There is nothing left there to return to anyway... only regrets and failures. All because of-
*Crack*
A cracking sound that came from the device had cut her thoughts, and got Kiana's attention.
The core that was humming before, now had cracks all over it. That was enough for her to understand that time was up, the energy build-up had reached its limit and the device was going to explode any moment now.
Looking up, she noticed that she had almost reached the space. Assuming it was far enough, she let go of the sphere allowing it to slowly rise away from her hands.
Now all that she had to do was to get the hell away from there.
Suddenly a metal frame touched her hands again, and the realisation that the device was still pulled back by gravity had made her heart sink. If she were to let go now, it will just fall back on the surface. It had to be destroyed here, where it won't cause any harm to the lives below.
That meant she would have to stay...
'There is no turning back now…' Bringing up her resolve she concentrated on the subspace lances behind her back, aiming them towards the core.
'Don't you dare!' the presence of the Herrscher returned full force. But before it could do anything she let them go.
At once the lances had pierced the machine, shattering the core and destroying any leftover restraints. The stored energy that has been seeping from within previously, rushed through the cracks, engulfing the area in a blinding flash of light.
Knowing it was the end. Kiana let the thoughts about her friends come to mind
'...Everyone, I'm sorry... Miss Himeko...',
"I have...kept my word..."
As the obliterating wave of purple grew near, her blue eyes closed for one last time,
'Kiana!'
'Had she heard something?', but then everything went black…
- Author Notes -
And that should be it for now, I really had fun writing this, hope you enjoyed reading it too.
For those who may say that there are some parts here that are not supposed to be, or are wrong. Well as I have mentioned before this is an AU, so some kind of divergence is allowed, more on it later. (Don't kill me pls...)
I tried my best but as English is not my main language, there may still be some spelling mistakes left.
See you in the next chapter.
Edit: I had to repost the chapter, for some reason it was not available for reading.
