The shrill ringing of his Lacrima-Comm pierced through the peaceful quite night, jolting Laxus awake from his fitful slumber. Groaning he turned to gaze at the clock on the nightstand, groaning once more as 3:27 blared at him in angry red. It'd barely been twenty minutes since he'd managed to fall asleep.
Turning in bed to gaze at his wife's still form, a small snort left him at her sill form. Of course she was still sleeping soundly, not a hair out of place to signify that the noise was even disturbing her. Laxus knew that if he were to bet his whole bank account, with that vast amount of jewels he had accumulated throughout his years as an S Class Wizard, on if Lucy could sleep through another dragon attack, he would be a hundred times richer.
That women could sleep through anything and he was really starting to envy her right now. Sometimes having such sensitive hearing could really be a bummer. Thank Mavis he didn't have Cobra's sense of hearing he mused tiredly rubbed at the heaviness in his eyes, wishing he could just ignore the incoming call, but one glance at the caller ID let him know that he would find no sleep if he didn't answer, considered the person on the other line would just continue to call until someone answered.
Laxus carefully pulled away from Lucy, gently holding her head to pull the arm she was using as her pillow away, setting her head down slowly, before reaching over to his nightstand and snatching the Comm, pushing his magic into the Lacrima to answer.
Immediately greeted by wild pink hair.
"Natsu? Why are you-"
"Heya, Laxus! Put Luce on!" The young slayer cut him off to demand, shoving his face so close to the lacrima once he realized the call was answered, allowing Laxus to only see his nose and the way Natsu nearly went cross eyed.
"She's sleeping you idiot! This better be important and not another one of your pointless calls! You have Lissana for that." Laxus snapped, not bothering to keep his voice low to a whisper. What for he thought, when there was no point to whispering. Not when Lucy slept like the dead.
"I promise it's important! Now put Luce on already!" Natsu whined.
"Aye, sir!" Happy shoved Natsu's face away from the screen, replacing Natsu's face with his own, face pale in horror. "We have to speak with Lushey now! It's a matter of life or death!"
Laxus sat up straighter, now wide awake at the threat of death. "What are you talking about? Is everything okay? What's going on?"
"Just wake her up!" Natsu's voice screamed out.
Laxus sighed in exasperation, pinching the bridge of his nose. Wondering why the hell they hadn't just called Lucy instead of him. But one look at his wife reminded him why he was the one always called at night. Lucy wouldn't wake up to pick up a call. If someone wanted to reach her after midnight, than Laxus was the poor sap who's sleep got interrupted to wake her up.
Laxus sighed once more, deeper than before as he turned to face the slumbering blonde. "Lucy?" Laxus prodded gently, placing a hand on her shoulder and lightly shaking her.
Nothing.
Reaching up for her hair, he gave it a few gentle tugs. "Blondie, wake up. Luuccyyy. Lucy. Lucy, wake up and deal with this moron! Lucyy!"
A soft moan, one of annoyance, slipped pass her lips, her eyebrows scrunching together, her small hand reaching behind her to swat at his hand.
"Go'ay..."
Huffing, Laxus took to poking at her side. "Come on, Blondie! Your kid won't let me sleep until he talks to you! Get up!" He said with a particular nasty poke of lighting to her ribs.
Brown eyes snapped open to glare sleepily up at him. "Wha' kid?"
Showing the Lacrima full of Natsu's face in his hands, happy to have woken her up, Laxus smirked at her. "Your son and the blue furball from hell want you." He said before throwing the comm to her and then himself back down on the bed and covering his body with the duvet, turning his back to her.
"Son?" Lucy questioned softly, not yet fully awake, clumsily scrambling to hold the Comm properly, sleepy eyes narrowed as she turned off the face time feature and put it up to her ear, closing her eyes once more.
"This better be good." She yawned into the receiver.
Laxus heard Natsu's voice come through the phone but couldn't make out what he was saying since Lucy had lowered the volume.
In reply to whatever the pink haired man had requested, Lucy sighed, hand reaching up to rub at the bridge of her nose before saying something about flaming rancid lizard breath. Natsu screamed over the phone making her groan before she said something in French very, very slowly. She paused to listen as Natsu replied and then repeated what she had said another five times before nodding and saying her goodbyes, then throwing the phone on her nightstand and slipping back under the covers.
He turned back to Lucy, curiosity getting the better of him, "What was that about?"
"Natsu wanted to know how to insult Gray in another language."
A thick dark brow rose up at that, sending her a look on confusion and silently asking why.
"He took a mission with Gray and the people who hired them are from Goya and Gray knows a few sentences apparently. Anyways, long story short, he called Natsu something, wouldn't tell Natsu what it meant and bragged about being smarter and more original in his comebacks, so Natsu wanted to know what it meant and wanted me to tell him an insult in another language he could use against Gray."
"Seriously? He called for that?"
"Hm."
"So what did you tell him to say?"
"That they were both stupid idiots."
