Here's chapter 2!

I know that in Greek mythology, most of the higher gods are siblings. For my story, some of them still are but others aren't. I just liked it better this way. This is a multiple POV story, mostly between Persephone and Hades. But I might include smalls ones from some of the other gods in the future. We'll see.

Hope you like it!

Hades POV

I'm standing, getting ready for the huge celebration party Zeus is hosting on Mt. Olympus. I never understand the point of these stupid parties that he hosts, most of the time everyone gets drunk or tries to brag about the amount of power they all possess. They're for unimportant things like the gods decided it was going to be sunny today or that they decided to let the mortals live for another month.

I'm wearing my traditional all-black suit, my hair in its traditional messy state. One of the other things different about me and the rest of the gods is the fact that I blended in a little more to society. I invested in multiple businesses in the mortal world as an anonymous owner, while everyone else kept to themselves.

Occasionally I will go and check up on my investments, but not often. Even though everyone has modernized in the ways of technology and clothes, all of the other gods refuse to cut their hair. Zeus, with his long, golden locks, thought it was an embarrassment when I decided to cut my hair in what is considered the normal hair cut for mortal men.

Walking into the palace, I head straight toward my designated throne. This is what I do every time I attend one of these pointless things, I sit up in my throne and glare at anyone who attempts to approach me. I resist rolling my eyes as I see Zeus approaching me, probably to lecture me about something stupid, forcing me to abide by his rules since he is the ruler of all.

"Hades! You look so tense, brother." I roll my eyes at him.

Looks like Zeus is already drunk.

"You know what you need? A wife to relieve you of your stress. Or, better yet, multiple women. I'm sure you can find someone like Hera. I know she doesn't like it but she always turns a blind eye."

That was the thing about my brother, he could never seem to keep it in his pants. Ignoring him, I turn my face towards the entrance just as Demeter walks in. Demeter and I never got along.

Her obliviousness to those around her and the fact that her center of attention is herself causes me to find it difficult to be around her. Turning around, I see her glare at something behind her, as if she is being held up. What walks in behind her can only be described as an angle.

Persephone, the goddess of the spring, walks in behind her mother. Her strawberry hair flows around her, framing her face in heavenly curls. Her dress is an off the shoulder, champagne-colored gown complimented by simple black heels.

Luckily, Zeus doesn't notice my stare as he walks away to flirt with one of the goddesses. I continue to watch Persephone as she never leaves her mother's side. She doesn't talk much, just smiles politely, and folds her hands in front of her dress.

When she reaches for a glass of wine being offered to her, I watch as her mother slaps her hand away before furiously whispering in her ear. Persephone seems to nod, chastise before responding and making her way down one of the palace halls.

Persephone POV

I walk down the palace halls towards where I know there is a terrace overlooking the party, needing to clear my head. This is one of the very rare chances I have to relax by myself. I love my mother, but she refuses to let me be independent, allows having nymphs follow me around, not letting me out of her sight.

Resting my hands on the railing, I take a deep breath of the fresh air, feeling the beautiful night breeze blow through my hair.

"Are you ok?" A deep voice behind me sounds.

Turning around, I see that Hades, Ruler of the Underworld standing behind me.

"Yes, my lord. I'm sorry, I didn't see you there." I try to keep my voice calm even though I am anything but.

"It's quite alright Persephone and please, call me Hades."

I smile at him, "Then I insist you call be Seph."

He nods before turning to look at the view. Discreetly, I look at him out of the corning of my eye. He's quite attractive, with a strong jaw, shorter hair that shows his face.

His face is cleanly shaved, showing how clear his complexion is. He isn't too much taller than me, as I'm about shoulder height with my heels. I would guess without them I would be at his chest.

"You looked troubled when I saw you out here." It's not a question, but I know what he means behind the statement.

Frowning, I turn to look back out at the party. "My mother refuses to let me grow up and be on my own. I've been around for centuries, but she still treats me like a child."

"What do you want?" Finally, the first person to ask for my opinion.

I look up at him, "I just want to be free to do what I want. To not have my mother constantly breathing down my back and refusing to allow me to see the world. I want-" But I cut myself short, not wanting to embarrass myself.

"You want what?" He prompts

Sighing, I respond. "I want to love. I want to experience love with someone. To have someone who wouldn't smother me, but love me because of my curiosity of the outside world. I just want to be free to do that, to live my life." I finish.

A warm hand wraps around mine.

"I'm sorry Seph."

I smile up at him, blushing at the fact that he used my preferred name.

"It's not your fault, Hades."

Soft music fades into the background as we look at each other, my hand still in his. The King of the Underworld is feared by gods and mortals alike, but at this moment I have never felt more protected.

"Would you like to dance?" His deep voice drifts through the air.

Responding to my nod, he puts on hand on my waist while the other continues to hold mine. My other hand rests on his shoulder, my head resting on the opposite. We stay like that for I don't know how long, dancing slowly to the soothing music.

Nudging my head with his, I lift up to meet his eyes. Slowly, he leans down toward me until the tips of our lips touch.

"Can I kiss you." I shiver as our lips brush against each other.

I nod before I feel his lips press to mine, molding together. My hands move of their own accord to wrap around his neck, his going to my waste. Our mouths open, allowing our tongues to swirl around.

Breaking our kiss, he presses his forehead against mine, panting softly.

"When can I see you again?" I ask.

He smiles at me, "Just call for me, and I'll appear."

"Persephone!" My mother's shrill voice calls.

Leaning up, we kiss one last time. "I'll see you soon Hades."

Turning, I walk down back to my mother, feeling his stare on my back.
