「Act 31: The first Mission is set」
Ajan Kloss, 36 ABY
Poe and Finn hurried down into the jungle base; the place seemed denser now; there were more consoles; more people; even more ships. The Resistance was slowly regaining momentum; a new mission was on board. Commander D'Acy walked over to the two.
"Poe," she said, heavily, "What are our next plans?"
"This can wait," Finn interrupted, "We'll inform you with everyone else."
"We are gonna wait for Rey and Ben to return," Poe said, "I need everyone down in the base to be briefed."
D'Acy nodded, "I'll gather the rest!" She said and turned away, beginning to gather everyone who was currently on the jungle moon.
Poe just stood there, his heart aching, his feet unmoored. He and Finn had already planned the new missions. A few important details were missing, but Poe hoped that Rey and Ben could add those.
Ben strolled back to the base after his encounter with Rey. Rey trailed behind him, trying to convince him to aid her with her training. But Ben remained adamant and almost stumbled against Poe.
"Hey, buddy, easy there!" Poe exclaimed as he grabbed Ben just before he collided with him. "I was looking for you both," Poe announced as he looked from Ben to Rey, "Follow me, we have to talk!"
"What happened?" quizzed Rey as she walked after Poe.
"Nothing, yet!" Poe assured her, "But it's time for our new mission."
Ben followed as well, but he was confused about why Poe would include him in the mission. Surely they didn't need any help with the First Order; they already had everything they needed!
Finn stood with Poe and Rose, staring at a computer console that held the information they had managed to decrypt. Finn found himself fidgeting with impatience. A few strides away, C-3PO and R2-D2 were similarly troubled.
"Artoo, have you heard?" C-3PO asked suddenly, "There will be new missions, and I'm going as one of them. And you will come too."
R2-D2 chirruped in clear frustration, telling C-PO that he didn't want to go.
"What do you mean, you don't want to. Of course, you will, like the old good times." C-3PO insisted.
"There!" Poe pointed as information started to flash across the console screen, showing diagrams— maps of the Unknown Regions, codes, and more data. Finn exchanged an excited glance with his friend. Then both turned and faced Rey, Ben, and the rest of the Resistance.
"Everything we ever wanted to know about the Sith's Soulstone and the Emperor's clone, we have decrypted. Except what exactly is the use of that stone, and where we can find it." Poe added, frustrated. "You see these atmo. Readings, we are having trouble making sense of them. That's why we need any information you two have."
Finn nodded his support as he looked at Rey and Ben, "You must know more, and for us to finalize these missions, we need that information."
Rey leaned closer and took a look. She remembered what she had once read about the Sith's Soulstone in Luke's texts, but there had not been enough information. "I read that the Sith called it the Black Stone and that most of their masters tried to find a way to use it, but they always failed." She shrugged an apology.
"That's not enough," Poe sighed, "How can we fight something we don't know how to find?" He turned and faced Ben, hoping that the former Sith geek would know more about the stone.
Ben gazed at the screen. He was sure he had heard about the Sith's Soulstone from Snoke. He didn't know all the details, but one day, Snoke had revealed him the truth about the Sith's Soulstone. And although it had only been one time, Ben had never forgotten about it. It had been a sinister tale—an unforgettable one.
"It's believed that its origin is in the Unknown Regions—the north parts. It was crafted there, by unknown creatures." Ben started narrating them through the stories he had once heard. "The stone cannot be wielded by anyone from this world. Neither Jedi nor Sith. If you try to touch it, it will haunt you and eventually lead to your end."
"How?" asked Rey as she turned and studied Ben seriously. He felt the eyes of every person, human and alien, on him.
"I don't know," Ben explained, "how the black stone functions and what energy gives it power. I wasn't told. I am sure Snoke didn't know either. But it's a force much ancient and darker than the Sith ever possessed."
"Then what's the point of owning the Sith's Soulstone," Finn questioned, "if you cannot use it."
Ben gazed at everyone from the Resistance as they waited for him to continue. It was difficult for Ben to relive those old memories from his time as Kylo Ren and speak casually about them— his past would always be an aching wound. "No Sith Lord managed to obtain the power to use the Sith's Soulstone. Though lately, there had been a rumor that someone from the North of the Unknown Regions had achieved the capability to control it."
"Who? Why didn't we hear about him or that forsaken place?" Poe asked Ben.
"Because no one really can travel to the North parts. It's an imaginary place. Maybe it never existed. Maybe it did. Again, I don't know who he is." Ben pointed out.
"Then what about the Sith's Soulstone? Do you know where it can be found? Or why the First Order would have information about it?" Poe went on with his questions. These new clues that Ben was revealing sounded strange and farfetched as no one had heard about them.
"It's said that you can only destroy the Sith's Soulstone in the deep of the mountain, where it was created," Ben responded as his facial expression showed how worried he was revealing information he had himself long forgotten.
"In the North... In the Unknown Region... Where no one can have access?" Rey interrupted him.
"Yes," said Ben. "It's the only way to be sure that it will never rise in the hands of someone powerful to use it. The Sith's Soulstone was hidden in the Emperor's temple,"
Rey cut him off once more. "But wasn't it destroyed?"
"It was," Ben agreed. "The black stone, and anything important to the Emperor, is hidden there. But only Omii knows where the Emperor's hidden temple really was. "
Everyone looked at Ben, their eyes asking a thousand more questions; Palpatine had too many secrets left behind that terrified everyone. They thought the war was long over, but today they had the feeling new darkness was rising.
"Ben," Poe said, suddenly catching his attention, "And what about the Clone, do you know anything about it?"
"No, I'm not familiar with the Emperor's hidden plans. Indeed Snoke had revealed some of his old secrets. But I believe it was only done to win my trust because he talked about it at the beginning of my training. Maybe there is a clone. You said the information might be on Exegol under the throne. But know this: the throne was destroyed." Ben said, "The throne was shattered into pieces," Rey agreed. She remembered her escape from Exegol, nothing had been standing, and everything had collapsed.
Poe paused and thought about the new information that Ben had given them. Truth be told, though Poe wasn't force-sensitive, he had had a bad feeling after the battle above Exegol was over that there was something else out there. Now with all the new clues, he could not ignore it. They had to make sure that the Galaxy would not be destroyed and that a new era of peace would rise.
"A small group that will be led by Zorii and Rose, with the help of Lando, that small group with the remainder of the Resistance, will take down the remaining First Order's ships. They aren't a threat, but better, we make sure that no one of the First Order's supporting ships remains around to cause trouble." Poe continued, instructing them on what they should do and when.
"You will not be with us, General?" asked Commander D'Acy.
"No, I'll be leading another group. Me, Finn, Rey, Ben, and the droids will first find Omii and figure out where the hidden Temple is located. Then we will stop in Exegol and see what else we can find there, last we'll try to reach the temple and the Sith's Soulstone and any other information we can gather. After we have gathered enough information, we'll decide what we should do. We cannot ignore the signs. This time we will act on time. Ben, do you know where we can find Omii?" Poe concluded.
Ben was not really sure if he should be part of their mission. Sure he could fight on their side and help them, but still, Poe was way too confident in him, "He was spotted last in Yavin 4 in the colony." Ben answered.
"Then, our mission starts there from Yavin 4, and we are leaving tomorrow!" Poe's final order was out.
The missions were set, and the orders were given. The Resistance agreed; Rey and Finn also seemed to be okay with Poe's plans. Ben was the only one who was conflicted. Slowly everyone went back to their jobs, and Poe walked over where Ben was standing.
"What do you know about Omii?" Poe asked him as he stood next to Ben and noted that he was quite shorter than him. He had never noticed that Ben was actually so tall.
Ben raised an eyebrow and gazed at him, "Not much! Omii worked as one of his assassins, like Ochi. I believe he was one of the new recruiters. But his/her father had a connection with the Emperor around the Clone Wars. Snoke told me that the last time he spoke with Omii, they met in Yavin 4. That was the last time Snoke mentioned his/her name."
Poe smiled and tapped Ben's shoulder. "The information you provided us today is more than enough. We'll start at Yavin 4 and see what we can find out."
Ben suddenly turned and gazed at Poe seriously. "Aren't you taking too many risks? Why would you drag me along in this mission?"
Poe paused and gazed at Ben, weighing his words, and then laughed, resting his arm against Ben's shoulder. "Ben the Resistance always takes too many risks. You already know that. As for the mission, I told you, I need you with us. We don't know what we will face. And although we have Rey with us, knowing that I have you with me ensures our mission. So stop whining and get ready. That is a direct order!" Poe said and walked away, leaving a dazzled Ben behind.

Adelgado28: About the Jedi and them being involved in relationships. Well, in the old Empire, it was forbidden. But After Luke Skywalker's interference, things changed. Even Luke was married, and he allowed the Jedi, he trained to have a family. Now about Ben being Rey's teacher. I've read that Lucas is thinking about the possibility of bringing Ben Solo back that he would train Rey. I liked the idea, but I would never have Ben train her as Luke would. Ben isn't a Jedi. Yes, he can use the Force. And yes, there is more that connects Ben Solo with the Force, but he would never be Rey's master. Though I want to see, him aiding her in her training. Ben had already been trained as a Jedi for years, which means he has better knowledge than Rey. But I don't know how I'll blend that though with the story. But it will happen later in the story. After the missions and after the battles. ^_^
amyunder: As I said to Adelgado, I want to see Ben help Rey in her path of becoming a Jedi. And Rey helping in the path of his redemption. Only this will happen slowly as the story unfolds. It will not be only one scene, but a series of events and encounters. ^_^
