Star Wars: A dyad in the Force Chapter 39: Unrelated Confession, a star wars fanfic

Yavin 4 - Colony, 36 ABY

Yavin 4 used to be a jungle fourth moon in orbit around the red gas giant Yavin. Before and during the Galactic Civil War, it hosted the headquarters of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, a group of resistance fighters that opposed the dominant Galactic Empire. A colony was established on the moon Yavin 4 in the months after the Battle of Endor, and today its visit by multi-life forms.

"I didn't know there was so much green in the whole Galaxy, even here on Yavin 4," Rey said as she strode down the ramp, followed by Finn and Poe.

"You always say that when we land in a jungle," Finn mocked her and tried to grasp her hand. The former stormtrooper was very protective of Rey, even if her abilities were way stronger than Finn's, and now that they were visiting an unfamiliar planet, his hand tried to reach hers.

Rey pulled her hand away; the Jedi didn't like to be touched, especially taking her hand without any reason. "Stop taking my hand!" she complained and pulled away.

"Don't!" came Ben's voice almost as a command. "We need to be careful," he explained as he looked around. "The droids better wait here, and Chewie will have the Falcon ready.. in case things go wrong."

All three -Rey, Poe, and Finn- turned and stared at Ben with a confusing expression on their faces. Until now, Ben's attitude was low; he nearly spoke and surely didn't order people around. But at that moment, Ben sounded confident, like he knew what he was doing, like a leader ready to give commands. Poe was ready to react to his words, but Ben cut him off.

"Sash! Can you hear that?" Ben asked and turned around. They landed a few yards away from the colony, and the colony wasn't any threat to them. But something had alerted Ben. He studied his surroundings until his eyes met with Reys, and suddenly his ears got red as the memory of her kissing him early sprang alive. He looked away at once, blushing and feeling again; his heart skipped a beat. This illness was getting worse; he noted to take some medicine when they would return to Falcon.

"I don't hear anything!" Rey answered, and she cast a glance towards Ben, only to find out that her stomach was once more upset. She acted calmly as she had already forgotten her stupid impulse to kiss Ben suddenly. And she, as well, though she was getting sick with some virus.

The company of four hiked south through the land of the deep jungle on turbulent waters, to their left the river rose sharply, Ben, who was walking first in line noted: "We must hold this course west of the River," he paused, breathing deeply and gazing in front of him at the jungle. The alerting feeling was gone, but his ears remained red as his thoughts were debating about the kiss.

"How many hours of walk, Ben?" complained Poe, who appeared behind Finn. He was not sure why Ben didn't land the Falcon near the colony. "Why didn't we leave Falcon closer to the colony?"

"A few hours of walk," Ben briefed him in, "Because you decided to entrust piloting the Falcon to me," he nudged him as he kept walking forward. Ben was acting more like himself today; the party of three could have a small glance of Ben Solo's real character. If he was not holding on to all the pain and suffering, that was the person he would be. Confident about his decisions and fearless.

Ben tried his best to avoid asking the question, and although he already knew it properly meant nothing, hearing it from her would ease his flattering heart. 'You kissed me?' suddenly, his voice was heard inside Rey's mind.

'How did you know the kiss was real,' Rey pressed inside his mind, almost toying with the words. The poor girl couldn't give him a straight answer because she didn't know why she ended up kissing him. Indeed it was just a feeling, and she acted upon that. It was a rushed act.

Poe gazed at Ben as he kept walking in front of them. "So you decided and delivered, without even asking us," Poe said seriously.

Ben hiked for a while first on the line in front of them with unseeing eyes, as if visiting in a distant memory or listening to sounds he had forgotten for a while. The days he spent in Ajan Kloss had him already taste a different world from the one he lived in. He was surprised with himself, but not relieved. "It was done out of caution," Ben offered.

'I know it was real,' Ben answered her and threw her recent memory of the kiss into her mind. 'It seems very real, doesn't it?' he asked her again into her mind. 'Now tell me why?'

Rey ignored him, the memory of the kiss made her blush more, and she stepped back, walking behind Finn. She was not ready to answer a question, which answers she didn't know. And why was Ben even asking her? She had kissed him before, and he wasn't as curious back then.

'Say it!' Ben insisted as their connection remained alive through the Force. 'Why?' he asked her again as he kept hiking through the dusty ground of Yavin 4.

'I don't want this!' Rey yelled inside his mind, irritated 'It was just a kiss; it didn't mean anything. You didn't react like this when I kissed you in Exegol...'

'I never asked you because I died afterward,' his response made sensed and made Rey frown. 'You know, you're right; why did you kiss me in Exegol, and then why did you kiss me today?' Now Ben really didn't want to know her answer; he already found out that Rey was confused as he was. But that didn't mean he would stop toying with her.

Rey almost lost her balance from his questions; she looked around, making sure that she heard him talk, although he only spoke inside her head. Rey strode at a fast pace and cut his way suddenly, facing him. "I didn't have any reason; it was just a kiss," she uttered loudly, catching everyone's attention. "It was just a kiss out of gratitude, and today's kiss just happened; I don't have a reason behind it."

Ben's brain stuttered for a moment, and his dark eyes took in more light than he expected, every part of him went on pause while his thoughts caught up, and his gaze dropped against Rey. He gestured behind him, pointing at Finn and Poe, who had just heard her clear and fair, admitting that he kissed Ben and not only once but twice. 'I know it was just a kiss,' his voice sounded inside her mind. 'Now you'll need to explain to them,' Ben added as he had sensed Poe's and Finn's surprise as they heard Rey admit kissing Ben.

"You kissed him?" Finn quizzed as Ben walked out of the way, "Again?" Finn felt as Rey's words knocked him down to his fall. "Since when are you walking around kissing the enemy?"

Rey narrowed her eyes; she was already pissed with Finn that he never revealed to her that Ben was alive, and now he was once again making her anger rise. "He isn't the enemy; you already know that, Finn," Rey answered in a louder tone.

Poe shrugged his shoulders. Honestly, he was surprised that his friend was going around kissing Ben; it sounded silly, but honestly, he didn't want to know any details, so he walked away following Ben.

"That was not my question Rey," Finn told her, taking a step closer towards her. "You kissed him, Rey, a second time? Why?" Finn asked her again; he was trying to get an answer from Rey. But Rey didn't know the answer to that question.

Ben was her friend, her close friend who understood her better than anyone. They shared a dyad in the force, and their connection was special like that, but there was nothing more there. "I don't know Finn; it just happened okay," Rey explained. Annoyed, she stepped her foot down, earning his attention. "Why does it matter? It was just a kiss,"

Ben and Poe remained a few steps away from the arguing pair. Ben had dropped his head, not sure how to react to that situation. It was embarrassing and, at the same time, childish; never in his life had he lived such moments. But since Poe brought him back to the Resistance base, silly and crazy moments kept happening.

"So, a kiss, huh," Poe only mumbled, unsure how to react to that situation himself, "You two have a lot of complicated moments,"

Ben was now tapping his left boot with his right; he didn't dare to look at Poe, "Lately too many," he agreed. "It was just a kiss; it didn't mean anything."

"Not for them; it's still new ground for them," Poe said and tapped Ben's shoulder. "The colony seems to be over there," the acting general suddenly changed the topic of their talk.

Ben nodded; he had nothing to say; what would he say that he was also a newbie when it came to emotions and relationships. That he was only used all those years to the pain and suffering, and now that he found the light, he was still in new pain and new suffering. Of course, he was worse than Rey and Finn when it came to such feelings and relationships. "It's nearby," Ben added.

"It matters, Rey," Finn told her as he grabbed her arms. "Maybe it doesn't matter to you, but it matters to me; I wanted you to talk to you about my feelings, but you are moving to fast,"

Rey tilted her head confusing. "Your feelings?" she questioned. "Finn, I know you care about me, but you don't have to worry," Rey was trying to ease his worries, but Finn interrupted her.

"No, it's not about that!" Finn said loudly, "I care about you, Rey, I love you!"

Rey smiled and hugged Finn, thinking that he was worried about her like a friend "I love you too, Finn. You are one of my best friends in the whole galaxy," she broke the hug and gazed at him. "You know that!"

Finn shook his head. "No, not like that; I really love you, Rey," he admitted, "I think I'm in love with you!"
