「Act 42: Knowing the path」
She never forgot that day. She had arrived in Eanor, knowing nothing about the real world. The din of battle and the smell of decay were the first things she noted. He one called King had brought this land to its ruins. There was a whole desperate struggle. She didn't notice then, but now in her memories, the scents and sound were clear; the smell of rotten weeds and dead things mingling with blood and sweat.
The planet was slowly dying, Eanor was calling for help. The darkness had reached out to everything and everyone and crushed all hope. Some tried to fight back against Delkor, but the first lines were swept away in the enemies' rush. Those few who were loyal to the true King of Eanor were slaughtered. The second line falls soon. It only held just enough to make a stand but failed soon after.
Their attack against the new darkness that Derkol brought failed, and with it failed their plans. She wasn't there when the war started; with her arrival, the war had already finished. But she heard the stories; Delkor, her master, would narrate her through the wars and battles. Tell her how many men were cut down bearing the old Kingdom's banner, and his men would rise a new whenever an old fell. Until the last one of the King's men fell. No one remained fighting.
Delkor and his men stood alone. Back then, they were less in number; now, he has slowly poisoned every living thing, dragged into the darkness, and slowly changed it to a beast or monster. The forests aren't green as they used to be; a shadow fell upon them. The running waters had stirred, and life was slowly gone. Unknown creatures appeared, hunted the forests and mountains.
The villages were turned to ashes, and the people that lived there became his soldiers of darkness. Few testimonies that could found on Derkol castle explained the fate of Eanor and its people and those that had not escaped. There were also tales of the new king and his fate on Eanor and towards the nearby planets.
In this short time, he lived in the North Unknown Regions; he was trying to unite the nearby planets. He was raised in the North parts with only his dark powers and a fleet available in Eanor. And he drew and drew from the darkness wanting to conquer any worlds available to him.
But his power was limited. Because the darkness he was seeking couldn't be found in the world around him. He needed to draw it from another darkness, from the Black Stone, and until now, he couldn't find its location. Palpatine tricked him years ago when he had sent the clone to him without any information about the Sith's Soulstone.
And there was one more thing that had trapped him from unleashing his cruelty in the known Galaxy; he couldn't escape from the North Unknown Regions. Although once he had found his way and hid there, now his ways were cut and sealed.
Delkor wasn't different from the previous Sith Lords, he wanted unlimited power, and after he would obtain it, he would destroy everything in his reach. His ways were dark, and his plans malicious. If he somehow managed to rose to his full potential, he would burn and ruin anything in his passing.
Dark Rey was different. Indeed Derkol had taught her wise. For him, it seemed like the perfect tool to stand next to him. And she accepted that role, she learned, she was so hungry to collect all the knowledge he offered her.
From how to bend the Force to her will, from how to will a double lightsaber. She slowly understood how the Force worked, and Derkol lessons gave her even the ability to travel through the galaxy as the years passed. However, it drained her power easily. It brought her near death when she projected herself in Kef Bir moon of Endor and faced Rey. But it was worth it.
Because Dark Rey was exactly the granddaughter that Palpatine would want, she had accepted her Sith inheritance and believed she had to finish what Palpatine had started. The difference between Dark Rey from the previous Sith Lords and Derkol was that she didn't want to bring the Galaxy to its ruins. Indeed those that would not obey would be punished and murdered. But she wanted to become Empress and rule the unknown and known world.
North Unknown Regions, Eanor, 36 ABY
Her heels echoed down the corridors as her mind was counting the number of her attempts to reach her, to reach Rey. Her shoulders bumped into her side in pace with her precise stride. Courtesy dictated that she should press the door chime before entering.
Though today was not a day for courtesy.
The door finally opened and reveal a dark-faced man who was waiting for her. He was sitting on the type of throne, tapping his fingers in a dark fast rhythm. "You are late," he said, looking up at her.
"I need you to know, I tried locating her... but it's only getting more difficult these days." Dark Rey admitted.
His color drained from the man's face before he shot his feet down against the ground; he seemed angry now. "You try... you always try," he shouted, "Trying isn't enough! We need you out there, to secure us a way to the known galaxy."
"I'm sorry, Master," she blubbered. "I believe she is getting stronger..."
"Do you not understand the term 'we're running out of time'? Perhaps you have forgotten your previous experience?" Delkor asked, "I choose you years ago because I have seen your Sith spirit rising inside you. If Palpatine had been more careful, he would have noticed that he already had what he needed, ...you."
"Yes, he did," Dark Rey answered as she took a step closer. "My grandfather wanted the galaxy in his grasps, he tried too many times, but it was impossible for him. But it isn't impossible for us, Master!"
His eyes grew very hard as he fixed his gaze on her. "It could be possible, but not without the Sith's Soulstone. Palpatine tricked me. And the darkness is slowly stepping away. I don't know how long I can hold it without the Black stone."
"As for the Sith's Soulstone, the Resistance had maybe found something. I managed to reach out, it only lasted a second, but they are looking for it as well." Dark Rey revealed, "Master isn't it another way?"
"Impossible, Dark," he answered, "If there were another way, I would already use it; you have to try again. Focus and give everything you have to that Focus, and this time I will make sure you will endure it. "
"As you wish, Master," she gave a small bow and stepped out of the room, closing the door behind her.
"History is vast, it is immense, and it is unforgiving." Dark Rey mumbled to herself as she walked down the hallways, "Yet if you count the time of the galaxy since its dawn, you'll see that all of history is nothing more than a handful of moments."
"Sticking in the past, grinding it down, and you will have just a few people at key points in time, everything is about to be in the right place, at the right time," the shadow smirked. "Giants, legends, true heroes of previous times, and our times span around us. Move too soon, and you will have to wait; move too far, and you will never catch them."
"You are talking in riddles, old man, but I understand what you are saying," she said. She turned left towards her training chambers, she had spent most of her life there, or at least the years she was living in Eanor. "You believe as well that a moment is at hand?"
"Far from it. Though don't get me wrong, I've been waiting for many centuries for this, and I know I can wait a bit longer." the shadow admitted.
"Skywalker is still the key; I can guess that. They are always one piece of the puzzle, but the last one has fallen; that is what confuses me? How with one firmly in our grasps, can we have a true moment in history?" she quizzed.
"Their legacy is still alive, believe it or not," the shadow hissed. "Even if not a Jedi, they are a threat. They tend to ignore their true destiny and always getting lost in rush moments and emotions. We can't rush it. The opportunity will present itself."
"My moment is approaching," Dark Rey said, "I know it, I must be patient, and the moment will come."
"There is no doubt, soon, you will," he assured her.
She paused and gazed at the shadow. "If I may ask, Why are you telling me all this? Why me?"
"No reason, really." the shadow explained, "I like to think out loud, and you are the next best thing connected to the Sith. Your legacy lies with the Sith, and you shall know it. Delkor, even if he reached ancient darkness, we never could; he isn't Sith. You have to understand that he thinks of you as his perfect tool to lead him to success. But you are not! You are a Palpatine, a perfection your grandfather mastered, and you will rise to become Empress Palpatine."
Dark Rey smirked evilly, "Those were my thoughts as well. And I am feeling that the tide is changing, and our time has come."
The shadow nodded and slowly disappeared into nothingness.
