I'm happy that some of you like my story. I wasn't sure whether or not I would be any good. I know the first chapter was rough but I do feel that the past few have been better. I'm not super great at writing.

Also, make sure to check out my Pinterest page, I'm posting relatable pics to this story on there. My name is Oceansky16 and the username is Oceansky2020.

Anyways, Here's chapter 7!

Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Batman characters.

Barbara POV

It's been two days since I've seen Bruce. No calls, no texts, no emails, nothing. I knew that he was upset with what happened on patrol that night but I didn't think he would ignore me for days.

I've tried calling but it either goes to voicemail or Alfred answers, telling me that Master Bruce was busy. My phone ringing causes me to look away from my computer. I have a deadline for work tomorrow, it's finished but I wanted to go through it one more time before sending it off.

I look at my phone seeing Dad's face flash across the screen.

"Hi, Dad. How're you feeling?"

Even though he was just allowed out of the hospital, he headed back to work immediately.

"I'm doing just fine, sweetheart. No need to worry about me. I'm just happy to be back and moving around."

Dad isn't one to sit around and allow everyone to do anything for him. He doesn't like being helpless and staying home after what happened with the Joker would do just that.

"How's Bruce?" I think carefully before answering.

My Dad's my hero but he doesn't need to hear about the love problems of his daughter.

"He's good, busy with work, but good." Luckily, he doesn't notice the hesitation in my voice. If he does, he doesn't mention it.

"I saw the pictures of you two at the charity event the other night. Quite the dress you had there." Oh crap. He's going into Dad mode.

If I would've worn that dress in front of him he would have gone ballistic.

I chose to ignore his tone. "Thank's Dad." A sudden knock saves me from this dreadful conversation.

"Dad. Hold on, there's someone at the door." He gives me a gruff 'sure' as I head over to the door. Opening it, I don't have another reaction as I suddenly scream. A bang sounds through the air, shooting me backward.

"Such a shame that Daddy was saved. Now I have to go after his little girl." His laugh haunts me as I suddenly pass out.

Bruce POV

Groaning, I look away from the computer screen. There's nothing, nothing about the Joker or his whereabouts. He'll pop up, it just the when and where that's worrying me.

I know that leaving Barbara the way I did wasn't a good idea. I understand why she did it. If it was her, if it was my parents, I wouldn't have hesitated to do the same thing.

Hearing my phone ringing, I pick it up. "Wayne."

"Bruce?" Jim Gordon's voice causes me to sit up in my chair.

"Jim, what can I do for you? Is everything ok?"

"No. I need you to come down to the hospital. Barbara's been shot." I'm out of my chair, running for the car.

She's been shot? By who? I shouldn't have ignored her for 2 days. I should have been with her.

"I'm on my way."

Pulling up to the hospital, I'm a ball of anxiety. What if something happens to her? She's my only shot at actually having a family, at being happy.

I know I have Dick, Tim, and Alfred but Barbara's so much more. Dick and Tim both moved out a few years ago. Barbara was the only one that stayed.

Walking through I immediately spot Jim before running up to him. "How is she? Is she ok? When can we see her?"

He shook his head sadly before sitting down. Doing the same I take the chair next to him.

"She's in surgery. I, um," he clears his throat. "I was talking to her on the phone. She said that someone was at the door. The next thing I knew was that she was screaming before I heard a loud bang." His eyes glaze over. "I called 911 right away and drove as fast as I could to her apartment."

I think I'm in shock. I keep picturing my parents those many years ago. I could have lost her. I ignored her for days, she needed me, she was shot, she's having surgery.

What he says next crushes me to the core. "It was the Joker. He found out where she lived to get to me. Just showed up and shot her."

I'm about to say something when a doctor in scrubs walks over to us.

Standing up he greats us before quickly explaining. "Her spleen was damaged but we were able to prepare it. The bullet managed to miss all other major organs but I still want to be cautious. We'll keep her at the hospital for observation for a week or two." She's ok, that's the only thing going through my mind right now. She's going to be just fine.

"Can we see her?"

The doctor looks surprised that I'm here, but I don't have time to fill his curiosity. I need to see her.

"She's being moved to her room but I can take you to see her. Only two can see her at a time." Following him, I begin walking.

"I'm going to head home." Hearing Jim I look up from Barbara. "I trust that you'll stay and watch her."

I nod my head before he makes his exit. Barbara's not a weak woman. I know that better than everyone else. If she doesn't think somethings right, she'll stand up and argue against it. She doesn't deal with shit, the fact that she's called me out on mine multiple times proves that.

But laying there, covered in bandages, bags under her eyes, she has never looked more beautiful and stronger to me. She goes head to toe with me on everything, wanting to be heard and not letting herself be brushed aside. She'll get through this, I know that, but there will be some scars.

The fact that she's called Batgirl is really discouraging to me. She isn't a little girl, she's a full-grown, beautiful, amazing, smart, woman. I just hope that she wakes up so she can show me how amazing she can be. Covering her hand with mine, I rest my head on her stomach, careful of her stitches, before sleep claims me.

A hand gently brushes through my hair, rousing me from my sleep. At first, I think I'm at home in my bed before my back protests at my position. Sitting up I realize what was brushing through my hair. Barbara's green eyes look up at me through tired eyelids.

"Hi." She whispers.

Not wanting to wait any longer I lean down and crush my lips to hers. I kiss her slowly, wanting her to understand how much she means to me.

"Hi."

We're painting as I finally break away.

Cupping her cheek with my hand I finally say what I should have said 3 days ago. "I'm sorry. God baby, I'm so sorry for ignoring you."

"Hey," she catches my attention. "It's ok. You came back for me."

Smiling at me I lean down to wrap my arms around her.

Chuckling into her hair I respond. "Yeah, I came back for you."

*A Few Weeks Later*

"Where are we going?"

"I have a surprise for you, remember?" She continues to laugh, making my dick even harder than it was, as I lead her down the familiar path towards the cave.

We've been back home for a few weeks now and Barbara's healing progress has been going perfect. She can't do anything strenuous but has been trying to do some sort of exercise every day. I know she's been itching to go back out on patrol but I've been having Dick and Tim help out. After Barbara's accident, I didn't want to risk having her stay at her apartment. She still has the lease on it as to not raise suspicion, but in the meantime, she's been staying with me

Stopping in front of the Batgirl suit that is hanging in the closet, preparing to be used, I uncover her eyes.

"What are we doing down here?"

Walking next to where her suit is displayed, I hit the panel placed on the wall next to it. The wall next to the display opens, showing a suit much similar to mine. It's all black except for the belt and the bat emblem on the chest are both red. The face mask is fully like mine, with the white eyes and all. Now that Barbara is in the public more since she's dating me, it's riskier allowing her eye color to be seen.

"I was thinking it was time for a rebranding." Watching her jaw drop and her eyes light up causes such emotion to arise in me.

I want to always see her like this, to give her the world. "Batwoman sounds pretty good, don't you think?"

"Bruce, I..." I can tell she's speechless. Turning around she throws her arms around me. Responding to her, I wrap my arms around her waist.

"So?" Does she not like it, I can have a new suit made.

"I can't believe you did this." Pulling away she kisses me before grinning. "So I'm officially a woman?"

I can't help but laugh at her. "You've always been a woman baby," I mention, slowly sliding my hands down to her amazing ass before squeezing.

Giggling before smacking my arm, she lets my hands say in their preferred position. "So is that a yes? You haven't officially agreed to my rebranding."

Laughing, she squeezes my waist. "Yes."

I know that Batwoman is technically a separate character, but I want to incorporate Barbara into that role a little differently.
