「Act 49: Let's make it official ... our Falcon love」
Azure, 36 ABY
A single ray of sunshine escaped through the closed curtains and invaded the darkened room. It suddenly hit across the face of Ben Solo; he lazily swatted at it before rolling over. The sun had accomplished its mission, and awoke Ben; there was no way he was going back to sleep now. Ben stretched and sat up.
He dragged himself out of bed, pulling his black shirt over his head while he walked to the balcony. He wore his shirt and leaned against the stone railing and gazed at the open city under him. They had arrived in Azure a few days ago to repair the Falcon. It had been a ten days journey to reach this part of the galaxy.
Azure was an astronomical object located in the Mid Rim of the galaxy. It was positioned at the coordinates P-8 on the Standard Galactic Grid. In between, Azure's Zero Colony was used as the main base for spacecraft to get resources. It offered to rest in gigantic hotels, gamble in the smaller casino, or simply have a drink or meal in the main city. The life there was not affected by the war, and those who lived there were in peace and harmony.
Ben shifted a yawn; these few days they spent in Azure, he had slept most of the time and rested enough. To repair the Falcon, it would take days and cost a lot; Ben paid for the repairs and rented a room for each group to rest. He had met at dinner time and ate dinner with them.
Ben's bare feet were getting cold against the balcony's stone floor of the comfortable suit he had rented. It has been a year or maybe two; he managed to live in such coziness. It was like he was on vacation for the first time in his life.
Ben felt the Force around him stronger as the silence grew around him; his eyes spread wide open as he looked around and suddenly noted a shimmering blue form appearing. At first, he thought it would be Anakin; he used to show up randomly like that these days and talk with him. "It's you?" he snapped as Ben figured out who the figure was. "After all this time, you decided now to show up?"
"Still wearing Black?" Luke mocked him as he stepped next to him, gazing at the open city. "I told you kid, if you strike me down, I would be with you forever."
Ben dropped his gaze at his attire. It was black indeed, but so much different than the one he used to wear as Kylo Ren. "I never stroke you down, Luke," Ben outlined. "I fought with your projection! What do you want?"
Luke leaned against the stone railing and turned to gaze at Ben. "You have changed! You listen now! Ben Solo!" he said with a calm tone at a low pace.
"I suggest you tell me what you want and leave," Ben responded, refusing to look at Luke. It had been a long time since the teacher and an apprentice met or even talked.
"You are still angry with me?" Luke questioned his tone a bit higher than before. "I sensed the darkness in you, Ben, raw strength like no other, Leia sensed it too. And we only wanted to save you, son, before it would happen again."
Luke's words hung in the air a few moments before Ben responded. Anakin had already revealed to him the real reason why Luke acted so unfairly, and Ben had already forgiven him. Strangely, he understood his uncle now, "You believed I would act as your son, and tried to seal the darkness inside me, repair me. You were wrong! I am not your son, and that raw power inside me wasn't dark in the beginning. It changed later with Snoke..." Ben started to explain but paused, "It's too late now; what's done is done. What do you want?"
"I was wrong, and I failed you, and your mother," Luke admitted, "The grief had won me over, and I lost my faith to the Force, and in you. I believed you were a lost hope even before you were born. That's what grief can do to a person. Ben, the suffering and all the pain you hold in can do the same to you. You have to heal son, step forward, don't forget the past, but don't live in it."
Ben laughed in irony. "Kylo Ren would appreciate those words; he wanted the past dead. He had enough with everyone and everything; the light side wanted to save him from the darkness he didn't have at first, parents who forsaken their son, and a master ready to kill him because he could not understand his strength. As for the Dark Side, they were even worse, wanting that raw strength fully evolved into darkness, and from it to raise a new leader, that would be their puppet. You see, your ideology was different, but both sides asked the same thing. Kylo Ren had enough masters, enough of the dark side and the light side; he would fall if needed to raise a new order. Only by doing that he created a monster."
Luke reached over and patted his head as he did when he was little; he never knew the real reason for Kylo Ren's actions. Kylo Ren seemed so angry when he met Luke; they never managed to talk; he never explained to him. "And now Ben Solo is left with that monster and the aftermath to take care of. This is your journey, Ben, to atone for what Kylo did; even if his deeds could be justified, he brought pain, death, and suffering to the galaxy. Walkthrough your journey, discover who you are, and don't be afraid of your strength as we were. Because you will need it, son."
Ben took a deep breath listening to Luke's words, although those words came too late and somehow eased his soul. Ben watched as Luke's figure slowly vanished and left behind only a light sparkle of hope. He remained there outside the balcony motionless, sinking inside the words that Luke offered him.
The harsh scent of drinks could be smelt of himself. He knew it, and so did everyone in the group. They could see him struggling to keep his balance, and he knew he was struggling to keep it. It was like some sort of out-of-body experience. His legs didn't work as he told them. Neither did his hands. Somewhere, deep inside him, his brain was sending signals telling him what to do. Whether or not his body was listening was a different story.
Why did he agree to follow Poe and the other out for a drink? He had never drunk in his life. Poe was astonished when he found out that the previous Kylo Ren never had an alcoholic drink in his life. It somehow sounded so amazing; he wanted to take him out and get him all drunk. Not that Poe was a heavy drinker himself, but he could stand his ground when it came to a logical amount of drinking. Finn and Rey could get easier drunk just with a couple of drinks.
Poe suddenly walked next to Ben and Rey and hugged them both. "Chewie just beeped me that the Falcon is ready; Finn and I will go and check it out if everything is alright. We are going to leave tomorrow morning; will you kids make it back at the hotel." Poe asked Rey, who only had one drink; Ben was already drunk. He didn't have to ask.
"Get out, leave Poe, I can handle this!" Rey assured him and tapped his shoulder. "Go get the Falcon!"
Ben tilted his head and blinked his eyes. "Poe, you have a twin?" he suddenly asked.
Poe hid a laugh and pushed Rey against the arm. "Don't let him drink anymore! He had enough!" He and Finn left to retrieve the Falcon, leaving drunk Ben and Rey alone in the pup they had visited earlier.
Rey tried once to take away Ben's drink but failed, as he complained that they wanted him to follow them out for a drink, and now he wasn't allowed to drink. His childish behavior won, and Rey let him have one more drink, and she drank one more. They drank in silence, hoping that the answer lay at the bottom of the glass and then the bottom of the bottle and then the next bottle and the next. And so the night dragged on. Few words exchanged between them. And the words that were spoken were slurred and senseless. Words that would be forgotten in the morning.
Ben was drunk, plain and simple. He stood up and staggered where Rey was sitting. He leaned towards her, and with a fun voice, he asked her, "YT 492727ZED or YT 492727ZDD?" It was a question game he used to play with Han whenever they traveled on the Falcon.
Rey turned; she also leaned close to him, gazing with her big wide eyes. She blinked, confusing, "Eh? YT ... what?"
Ben nodded with a big smile, one of those who led the world on fire, as he lost his balance and sat down. "YT 492727ZED or YT 492727ZDD? Which one is the Falcon's Registration number?" he asked her again.
"Em?" Rey scraped her head. "YT 492727ZED!" she answered surely and loudly. Of course, she knew the Falcon's Registration number, even drunk.
Ben pointed at her. "Correct! You are the first one finding the right answer," he said proudly that someone finally got it right.
"I knew the right answer," she admired herself as she tried to stand up. "I know every detail related to the Millennium Falcon!"
"Then, I will share my love for the Falcon with you." Ben edged close to her ear and whispered his smelly breath softly blew against her ear-tickling her.
Rey giggled happily. "Okay. But you only can share it with me because I'll get jealous!"
Ben assured her, "Only with you. You found the right answer! It can only be you." he made it clear as he wrapped his arm around her and hugged her close.
"We need to make it official then," Rey added as Ben paid for the drinks, and both strode out of the pup. It was almost dawn, and those two happy-kids started walking in an unknown direction, talking about their Falcon love.
Poe and Finn returned only to find them already gone. "You think they will be into trouble," Finn asked worriedly. Actually, he was troubled about Rey, more than Ben.
"I don't know, Finn! But we better look for them!" Poe agreed.
Ben and Rey, drunk and happy, had already passed the main district and were now wandering around the Azure colony's alleys. Still hugged and happy, they talked loudly, trying to find a way to make official their Falcon love.
"We could sign a contract!" said Rey as she was thinking of ways to make it valid. She was still all over Ben, and this time Ben wasn't annoyed at all. He actually liked it.
"We need a person related to the law! I don't know any." Ben said with a puzzled, funny face that Rey had never seen.
Rey thought, "Law-related ?" she shook her head, thinking of someone who could help them, but she was not really familiar with any of those.
Ben paused and leaned against a wall. A few steps away was a wanderer selling rings, earrings, and other fake jewelry. "Agreed on my Falcon's love... We need to find another way to make it official," as he shared a goofy smile with Rey.
Rey jumped up the air, "I know. We can marry our Falcon's love." she suddenly announced, "It's a contract, and the law signs it."
Ben didn't wait at all. He grabbed her hand and dragged her away. "Let's do that then. Let's get married!"
"Let's go," she yelled as she let Ben drag her away, and she only paused at the stand. "Wait, wait, we need a ring," she told him, "I have heard stories, and a ring is always needed!"
"I will buy you one later. Let's go and get married first." Ben demanded in his drunk state as he pulled her with him.
"No," she refused and showed him her fingers. "How can we get married without a ring. You are mean!" she whined.
"Don't be sad." Ben replied with puppy eyes and lifted his arm, "Lady, we will buy a ring."
"Really!" she said as her face led up and started searching for a ring. "They look all so pretty."
Ben stepped closer towards the lady. "Then, we are buying everything!"
Rey, with a smile bigger than ever, jumped on him and hugged him tightly. "I got the right Falcon love," she added. After buying all the rings, they went on walking around the city. They bought flowers, even a pink fluffy long skirt for Rey to wear. As they were "ready" to get married, they ended up in the city hall. It was already morning, and the city hall had just opened.
"We need to fill the form first!" Rey yelled as she read and figured out how weddings could be established in Azure; she pulled back Ben, who was ready to go towards the city hall's clerk.
They took their time and filled out the form correctly. They waited in line. And soon, they were facing a middle-aged alien woman that worked there. They handed her the form as they looked at each other happy, losing their balance once in a while.
"We want to get married!" Rey said in a cheery tone at the lady that was reading at the form.
"You need a witness for that. The rest of the form seems to be correctly filled," she informed them.
"You have two of them. Me and her," said Ben. He pointed at Rey and himself, "One, two!"
"No, it has to be someone else," she said, rolling her eyes, every day. She was going through the same scene of drunk people getting married. They both upset, stepped back, gazing at each other; who were they supposed to get?
"I know. Let's go outside and get someone!" said Rey as she stepped away, looking for a random person. A stranger came, and she signed the form. However, she noticed that both didn't look exactly sober, but she didn't really care. The form was now signed, and both of them waited for the clerk to stamp it and make it official.
He struggled to remember what happened, his muscles aching and cracking as he stood up, crashing his fist against the wall. "Why?" he mumbled to himself as he remembered pulling Rey towards the city hall. He was sure he placed her a ring. He recalled even picking her up and walking with her around, searching for the Falcon. He was lying inside a small unit room. He sat up, his head aching and spinning as it had never in his life. What had he done last night?
Rey was sleeping on Ben's old bed above the small unit, and she was lying on her belly. Around the mattress lay bras, unties, and all kinds of new underwear. Next, all over were her clothes, the pink skirt. She snapped her eyes open and rubbed them. She sat up, yawning, and gazing around the room. She finally noted she was only wearing a black oversized shirt and her undies.
"That isn't mine!" she said, referring to the shirt she was wearing. She picked up one bra. It surely looked like it was her size, but it seemed too sexy. She rubbed her head, noticing the rest of the underwear. "What did I do?" she asked herself as she couldn't remember much of last night.
In the middle of the unit, they both crashed into each other. Rey and Ben exchanged confusing glares. And they stood there in silence for a few long moments trying to remember what had happened last night.
"Why are you wearing my shirt?" Ben asked, but he immediately regretted it as he wasn't sure if he wanted to hear the answer. His eyes scanned Rey from Toe to head. "What happened last night?" He rephrased the question.
Rey sighed; of all the people, it had to be him. "I don't know. I don't remember anything," she replied.
"Me neither," Ben added as he rubbed the back of his neck, confused.
"You put a ring on my fingers and ask me to marry you," Rey suddenly recalled.
Ben turned around and grabbed a piece of formal document and handed it to her. "I think we did!" he updated her and almost lost his balance, ready to fall.
Rey read the document and her eyes opened widely. "Married?" she murmured confusedly. They remained like that for a while, letting the events last night sink in, but their memories were blurred. "Go change. Let's go find out what happened. We can figure the rest later." Rey added.
Ben agreed. The priority was to make sure they didn't get married or at least cancel the wedding. Both of them rushed down into their storage unit, crapped a pair of clean clothes, and wore them. Thankfully the Falcon had not departed yet, and they were still in Azure. They leaped out of the Falcon, stormed into the city hall, and over where the clerk was sitting. They both showed him the form, both out of breath demanding: "Cancel it please."
The clerk shook her head. "This morning, you both were yelling at me to accept it."
"We were drunk. Please. It was a mistake." Rey begged.
"And you don't want to make it official than your Falcon love?" the lady mocked them.
"Eh, Falcon, what?" Rey asked her, confused. But when Ben heard about the Falcon Love, he figured out what had happened. Because the Falcon love was something, he only talked about with his father. And probably he got too drunk yesterday.
"Calm down. I never accepted the form. I could tell that you both were too pink happy to get married." the clerk revealed, "It took me a lot of effort to persuade both of you to agree. That Falcon love surely was strong."
Both took a long and deep breath; they looked at each other. They thanked the lady and walked out of the city hall with their heads down. Leaving as far as they could from the city hall. They didn't say anything, only wandered around for a few blocks, and finally, they both agreed to forget that it even happened. Then they returned to the Falcon. There they found their friends angry; from Poe to BB-8, everyone wanted explanations for their behavior.

LozzieEliza05: Agreed. It's nice to see how Ben's family would react if they were still around from time to time. ^_^
20554712: Then you liked this chapter; it's one of the light chapters I have added. ^_^
Guest: Yup, yup, 'Hugs' is one of the villains I actually liked.
amyunder: Thank you ^_^ I hope you liked this chapter as well.
stepankahanusova86: Agreed. If I could, I would keep adding cute moments like those, but the story would get boring. It's time to let the story unfold, but there will be cute and sweet moments from time to time. Yes, I really want Ben and Poe to become really close friends. It will take some time, but I believe having long-lasting friendships in a story is important. ^_^
