Honestly this chapter was so difficult to write as I get into deep writing and start writing the anime worlds, and honestly I am going to do my very best not to fail at writing how the characters are.
Please do enjoy the story and be surprised and what anime's I will be including in this version.
Chapter 4: Finding the Connection
Marina was stood outside with Sora and Riku as they were saying goodbye to the others, she was looking up at the stars wondering what this place was. She then glanced over towards Riku and Sora, different thoughts coming to mind.
Mei flew onto her shoulder glancing between her and the boys. She made a massive pout face poking Marina's cheek.
"Ouch! Mei what was that for?" Marina rubbed her face.
"Ever since we met these people, you seem so out of it! I blame that human boy!" Mei folded her arms grumbling.
"What are you talking about?" Marina was rather puzzled by her notion.
"When you tripped over in the tower, and when he caught you! Your face was lit up like my wings when I'm angry!" Mei continued to pout and poke her cheek.
"Mei cut it out! I do not know why I was like that… but when I did see his face… My heart reacted like it knew him?" Marina glanced over at Sora, that feeling still was there within her heart.
"But we both know apart from before Nyx found you, you've always lived with her? I have practically seen you grow up" Mei folded her arms.
Marina rubbed her arm looking over at Sora and Riku again, still wondering what this feeling that was hidden deep within her heart.
"I wish I was coming with you... I feel like I could help..." Kairi looked down sadly.
"You're helping Kairi, your starting your training!" Sora grinned at her. "And we'll be back before you know it!".
Kairi looked up at him sadly hugging around his neck, trembling, and really worrying for him. Riku watched the two of them smirking slightly, he did feel sometimes jealous Sora got Kairi's attention. But he keeps his feelings to himself, knowing last time he let them take over it nearly cost him his friendship with them both.
Sora was blushing up as Kairi hugged him like this, causing his heart to beat fast. He hugged her back as everyone giggled at them both.
"Right be careful you two and keep Marina safe… and an eye out for this enemy." Donald patted Sora's back.
Sora slowly pulled from Kairi crouching down smirking and grabbed Donald into a headlock.
"Oh Donald, I'm going to miss you too!" He laughed as the Duck quacked trying to break free.
"Please do come check in and give us updates on what's happening ok?" Goofy saluted Sora and Riku.
"We will Goofy!" Sora finally freed Donald.
Riku started walking over to Marina waiting for Sora to catch up, he glanced at Marina for a moment. She looked back feeling rather awkward, she noticed the way he had kept looking at her. Riku stepped close to her.
"I don't know what your case is exactly Marina, but just know I'd be careful around us." He spoke quietly to her. "Do anything that hurts my friends, you'll answer to me."
Marina was quite shocked from the warning, taking a step back as she held her arm.
"Hey Mr! Don't you dare threaten my Marina!" Mei got rather angry, suddenly turning into her human size. Riku was quite surprised by this, as Mei poked his chest.
"We don't exactly trust you one hundred percent either, so just know if you do anything to get between Marina finding her brother." Mei glared right into Riku's eyes. "You'll answer to me."
"Mei! Look calm down please!" Marina got a little worried now, that they might start an argument.
Riku was left rather speechless by Mei, her determination and will power. Mei finally turned back into her normal size; all the energy of her anger vanished. Sitting on Marina's shoulder again looking pretty worn out.
"Mei you shouldn't turn into human size... it drains your life force." Marina took Mei into her hands, concentrating her hands began to glow.
"What are you doing?" Riku asked curiously.
"I have a massive connection to light, and I learnt as I grew up, I can share that light with others." Marina began to concentrate. Her hands began to glow and pours of light surrounded Mei's body.
"When I first met Mei was when I was 12, I found her on the brink of death." Marina looked to Riku again. "I bonded some of my Light with her, so in a way she relies on me to live."
Mei blushed and pouted folding her arms again, she glanced at Riku herself still fuming.
"Doesn't that not affect your life span?" Riku was quite surprised by this story.
"I've never really saw it that way, but we've been fine." Marina smiled at Mei gently. "My friendship with her is like yours with Sora and Kairi."
Riku rubbed the back of his head nodding suggesting that she was right, but he still felt so unsure about Marina. Something with her just did not sit right with her before the discussion could continue Sora jumped up behind Riku.
"Right! Let's head for the gummi ship!" He started pulling Riku by the arm.
"Sora calm down, I can walk by myself!" Riku chuckled as he was being dragged on.
Marina stood watching the boys walking on ahead, she was not sure she should travel with them after all. She held her necklace tight in her hand closing her eyes.
Sora stopped and glanced over his shoulder, seeing Marina had not been following them. He glanced at Riku for a moment wondering if he had said something to her. He walked over towards her and held his hand out.
"Come on, we can't leave without you." He smiled brightly at her.
Marina opened eyes surprised Sora was suddenly standing there, holding out his hand like that. She looked up at his face, a small memory appeared into her mind. A boy with a similar smile, holding out his hand to her.
'I still so confused… maybe I can find out why my heart reacts to him?' Marina slowly reached out his hand taking it.
The young boy with brown hair was sat on a rocky cliff, within a desert Kingdom looking up at the Sky. A girl with short brown hair sat beside him, wearing elegant pale pink robes and a hooded coat. She was holding what looked like a golden apple, she looked very sad and her heart filled with loneliness.
"Syaoran wouldn't you want to come live in the castle?" The young princess turned to look to the boy sitting beside her.
"In the Castle? Wouldn't that be strange?" Syaoran tilted his head confused by her question by replying with his own.
"It wouldn't be strange, You're my childhood friend after all." The girl felt a little hurt by the reply.
Syaoran finally stood up and continued to look up to the sky.
"Those that are not from the royal line cannot live in the castle. And it's already enough for me to live as an archaeologist." He continued to smile; it was the dream that burned within his heart.
"But... Because of your work, I have not been able to see you lately. I'm lonely." The young maiden smiled sadly. Syaoran turned and looked at her surprised.
"Syaoran don't you get lonely?" The girl asked him. Syaoran smiled at her gently.
"Yes, I do, but the excavation was Father's and my- "Before he could finish his sentence, the girl's expression saddened again.
"I know. A precious dream, right?" She sighed gently as her heart continued to sadden.
"But… I still want to be with you."
Syaoran felt bad with his answer as he crouched back down to her level, she continued to gaze at the fruit she held in her hands.
"When I lie in bed at night I always think, 'What could Syaoran be doing?'" She closed her eyes. "I wonder if he thinks about me at all."
Syaoran went to reach for her. Knowing part of what he wanted to tell her deep inside his heart.
"I do. I think about you too." He calmly said as he did not take his gazed from her. The girl smiled gently now; his words now brought out the light within her heart.
"I have something I want to say to you Syaoran… I... lo..." The loud echo of a bell chimed into his ears.
Suddenly Syaoran opened his eyes panting as he sat up, feeling the intensity of his dream. He held out his hands as tears began to fall down his cheeks. Clenching them tightly, feeling so foolish and weak. How on earth did he think that he was the one. Who could protect her, keep her safe?
"Sakura… forgive me..." He shuddered under his breath.
'Syaoran.. about the thing I wanted to say to you... I will tell you next time. I'll say it for sure, so just wait.'
Those words always hit Syaoran the most, the words she forgot when her memories were scattered throughout the worlds. Suddenly he sprang up looking around for the feather, he found it on the bedside table glowing faintly.
He picked it up into his hands holding it tightly to his heart.
"Sakura... I don't know who took you, but I'm going to find you." He gritted his teeth.
"Well now it seems you've woken up".
Syaoran blinked surprised by the voice as he turned to look over to a door. A woman stood there, wearing quite a revealing outfit. Her top barely covered her breasts, as she wore a long purple coat with a fur collar. She closed the book within her hands, slowly stepping into the room.
"I must say you were quite in a state, but your wounds were simple enough to heal." She placed the book back on the shelf, she pulled some of her dark hair back behind her ear.
Syaoran noticed a strange tattoo of a Boar on her neck. Something told him that meant something.
"Um Thank you… for helping me." He looked around the room where he was, the room was filled with many magical artifacts.
"I mainly did so because I can tell you are not from this world." The woman sat down on the end of the bed crossing her legs. "My name is Merlin. I'm quite well known as a powerful magician."
"A Magician? Then you know about different worlds?" Syaoran sat up more wincing slightly from the wound in his stomach.
"Take it easy, those creatures that attacked you aren't what your use to." Merlin sighed gently then she smirked. "I must say your precious Princess friend is rather attractive."
Syaoran's eyes widened frowning at her remark, but part of him was also blushing.
"How do you even know about Sakura! D-Do you know where she is!" He gripped the feather tighter in his hand.
"Well I did just explain I'm a Magician did I not? Plus, a big part of my ambitions is knowledge." She chuckled at his reaction. "It wasn't particularly hard to see your memories of what happened to you, I can see you were on a long journey with friends... and that young Princess."
She stood up as she held out her hand, a small ball appeared the expression on her face became more serious.
"I saw how you got separated from them, and two figures in black appearing." As she continued to speak, the two same figures were being projected.
The memories began to appear into his mind, remembering how none of his powers were any match. Remember the creatures of darkness slowly appearing beneath their feet.
Slowly remembering as he was overpowered, and Sakura's last words.
He grunted feeling frustrated with himself, finally looking back at Merlin again. She could see in his eyes something familiar to someone else she knew too well.
"I think what has become of your Princess, has happened to one of our own as well." Merlin stood holding the ball out before them both. "Our captain of our group holds her very dearly, when they took her… he has followed."
"Your saying Sakura's disappearance is connected to your missing Princess?" Syaoran's expression calmed, his gaze went to the round ball.
An image projected of a young-looking boy, his blond hair blowing through the wind. He was aimlessly fighting on, not resting from any fight. The desire in his eyes of trying to find the one he loved ran deep.
"Yes, I fear its very likely, this is connected." Merlin moved her hand over the ball, changing the image. The image changed over to the familiar Keyblade wielders, Sora taking hold of Marina's hand leading her towards the Gummi ship.
"Who are they? Do you know them?" Syaoran wondering why these people were connected as well.
"I have been keeping an eye on many things that could be connected to this little tale, and these three are going to be mixed into the heart of this." Merlin finally made the ball vanished as she clasped her hand closed.
Syaoran stood up following Merlin towards her table, still holding onto Sakura's feather tight in his hand.
"You were destined to meet me Syaoran, you are rather similar to those world travelers". Merlin looked up to Syaoran. "We need to meet with them, they will be your best chance of finding your Princess."
Syaoran took a moment to think this through, he was separated from Kurogane and Fai. And Mokana who was his only way of traveling between worlds. He was deeply worried hoping they were safe as well, but his prime worry was to get Sakura back.
"Alright if they are the ones who will help me find Sakura. I will seek them out." Syaoran watched as she held her hand out to him. He took hold of it, in that instant she looked serious.
"Syaoran in return for me taking you to meet them, I ask for something in return." Her gazed still serious.
Syaoran was hesitate for the moment wondering what the price would cost him this time, the dimensional witch already took what was most important to him. The love and memories Sakura had for him.
What else is it… that he could give up?
"What is the price? I will do anything for Sakura." He took on her gaze, firm and standing his ground.
"Don't worry, I'm not extreme as that witch... all I ask for, is on your travels." She smirked towards him. "Is to wear part of this brooch and let me gather info on other worlds you visit."
"Why would you want that? You already seem to know everything." Syaoran was puzzled as he saw the brooch she placed into his hand.
Merlin just chuckled at the remark, holding his hand firmly.
"You boy, one of the best things in life… is learning everything." Merlin smiled and within that moment, the two were blinded by a bright light that swallowed them.
Sora yawned as he sat in the back seat for a change, folding his arms behind his head. He could not understand why he let Riku talk him into taking charge of the driving. Riku was very focused on the driving, to Sora he looked like he had been driving his whole life.
Sora made a pout face and then rolled his eyes. He looked to the side seeing Marina, Mei was asleep on her lap. He looked at the expression on her face wondering what was going through her mind.
'I still don't understand, why my heart acts like I met her before?' Sora looked up the ceiling, trying to think where he might have met her before.
Marina was looking down at Mei sleeping in her lap, her tiny hand was holding onto her finger. Still feeling so confused, yesterday she was setting out on a journey to find her brother. Yet here she was, with two boys she hardly knew. And traveling to other worlds, some dark threat was seeking her for some reason.
She did wonder if that had something to do with her lost memories, hating how she only remembered her parents have died. And her brother, Addias had vanished.
She looked out of the window seeing nothing but endless space, she wondered if he even remembered her. What if he had forgotten her?
The small pain swelled up in her chest, suddenly though she was caught by surprised. She felt Sora's hand on her arm and grinning at her.
"Hey, you ok? You seem pretty down." His smile was so warm and loving, she looked up at his face as a warm memory of someone smiling at her appeared for a second.
She blinked as she sat up slightly in the seat, taking a deep breath to gather her thoughts again.
"I have this bad habit of thinking about a lot at once, and it eats me up a lot." She finally smiled back at him.
"It's not a bad thing, we all can lose track of ourselves in our thoughts." Sora chuckled gently, then folded his arms. "Ain't that right Riku?"
"I thought it was you that did that Sora?" Riku rolled his eyes, keeping his gaze on his driving.
"Oh really? Do I recall when you were 15, how much you wanted to seek out other worlds?" Sora walked over towards Riku putting an arm around his shoulders. "How deep you were about why we lived on Destiny Islands? And how much bigger was the vast amount of worlds?"
"And I recall how lazy you use to be back then." Riku chuckled. "How you would always leave the work to me and Kairi".
"Your just jealous I kicked your butt" Sora chuckled along with his best friend.
"Sure, you keep telling yourself that Sora." Riku chuckled gently.
Marina watched them both a small smile appeared on her face, watching them both felt rather comforting. Also, heartwarming they were both so different, but clicked so well. She looked down at Mei smiling at her, knowing her friendship with her was the same.
Sora turned to look her way surprised to see her smiling, he stepped over to her.
"I think that's the first time I've seen you smile" This comment caught Marina off guard, looking up at him.
"Oh, is it? Just all of this has been overwhelming." She looked to the window. "All of it, and to be honest I am pretty scared."
"Why are you scared?" Sora sat back down slightly concerned.
"Well when you don't know who you are most of your life." Marina turned to look back at him. "And when you've only known so little to begin with, and make such a huge change wouldn't you be scared?"
"I admit my first journey was scary at the beginning, specially the fact I wasn't sure if I'd see Riku and Kairi again" Sora smiled again. "Marina I promise, we will help you every way you need and find your brother."
Marina looked at him gently as me made such a huge promise to her. One of the few memories she did remember was an old promise. A binding one to her brother. Sora's hand gently touched hers for that moment, something hurt inside her heart.
"Guys hold on something is coming!" Riku yelled back and made a sharp turn.
Marina gasped out clutching Mei close being thrown off her seat, but she was surprised when Sora had quickly moved catching her. Holding onto the seat as the Gummi Ship was being attacked from both sides.
The ship began flying through broken bits of rock that looked like the remains of a chess board, As many heartless ships were following behind. Riku fired some lasers ahead of them, seeing a small world emerging from the rocks.
"What are those things doing out in space!" Mei screamed out, partially grumpy from being awoken from her sleep.
"They love to appear in the strangest of places." Sora grinned trying to lighten the mood.
Mei was not amused by the joke; she quickly hid against Marina's chest trying to not look. Marina looked towards the world they were approaching.
"Let us head there! Maybe we can escape them!" She screamed out as both her and Sora slid back the other direction.
"Alright! Hold on!" Riku pushed his foot down, and the whole ship sped up.
Within a blinding white light everything seemed to fade out of focus as the ship made a massive crash.
A pair of black books slowly walked towards the fallen ship from the sky, a long black coat flapping behind her. A girl with twin tails examined the wreckage, her piercing blue eyes gazed at every inch. Composed and calm raising her sword from the ground.
She slowly turned the other direction, as a small vibration began to shake the ground beneath her feet. She frowned in the direction she was looking at, a blue flame formed within her left eye.
The new creature's that started appearing were causing a lot more trouble than she bargained for. And to make many matters worse, her journey was even harder.
In the distance another girl was floating on top of two skulls. Her green eyes could be seen clearly, her black dress flapping in the wind. Her short flowy black, seeing the two horns protruding from her head.
She carried a huge black scythe in her hand, back flipping off the two skulls with the force of her scythe she pointed them to attack.
The twin haired girl stretched out her arm, and a massive gun appeared. Within the other hand a small sword, the flame in her left eye burned brightly. On her back you could see the name 'Black Rock Shooter'.
Black Rock Shooter jumped up and began firing her gun at the giant skulls, along with slashing at some neo shadows that jumped her from behind.
Sora grunted at the massive pain in his back, slowly opening his eyes as he felt the ship move. He saw Riku had collapsed on the floor by the steering wheel. He sat up finding he was holding onto Marina, seeing he broke her fall during the crash.
"Hey! You guys alright?" He winced gently shaking Marina.
Marina opened her eyes; the pain overtook her body. Slowly sitting up, she gently opened her hands to see Mei was safe in them. Riku grunted rubbing his head sitting up as well.
"I'd say that was one of my first rough landings." Riku pulled himself up to his feet, looking at the monitor to see if could make out where they landed.
Sora helped Marina to stand up to her feet.
"Are you and Mei alright?" He asked as she turned to look to him.
"Yes, I think so." As she said that Mei flew out of her hands over to Riku.
"Were you trying to kill us!" She grumbled looking him dead in the eye. Riku was taken aback by her anger before he could even answer the ship shook. Marina moved forward towards the window, looking outside she could see a massive battle happening outside.
The heartless began to surround the ship, the famous yellow glow both Sora and Riku knew too well pierced through the windows.
"I think we will have to cut this conversation short Mei" Riku quickly moved to the back of the ship, pressing a button. "I am going to teleport us out of the ship, try to lure them away."
Marina still wondered why they were still following them here, backing up towards the boys.
"Hold on!" Riku shouted out, and at the same time Sora grabbed hold of her hand.
The four of them teleported outside the ship landing in a massive thud.
Marina rubbed her back, opening her eyes as she stood up with Mei holding onto her head.
"Sora, Riku.. I think things are just going to get worse."
Sora and Riku had both finally stood up in awe all jumping backwards, in that instance Black Rock Shooter had jumped back firing her gun at the Scythe wielder.
The girl with Scythe had blocked the attacks in midair, back flipping and landing on a rock. Following her movements her two floating skulls went back to her sides.
She glared down at Black Rock Shooter, something inside her seemed to show a lot of resentment towards her. Black Rock Shooter slowly stood to her feet, the flame in her left eye still burning, but her gazed looked sad and longing.
She held her hand up towards the other girl, Sora watched between the two girls. He could see these two must have a severed bond. Something he remembered all too well, it was like a reflection of him and Riku.
The green-eyed girl glared at Black Rock Shooter, slowly her gazed turned towards the new spectators. She eyed them up smirking deeply, sensing something within them.
She pointed her hand towards Marina, which caused her blood to run cold. Why was this girl pointing at her?
Her two skulls began to charge in their direction, Sora's instincts kicked in as his hands grabbed Marina by the shoulders pulling her back. Marina was shocked and wondered why Sora was always the one to pull her back and protect her. Was it cause of this strange connection she was getting to him?
"I don't think so!" Riku summoned Way to Dawn getting in the way of the attack.
The skulls fired a massive fury of flames the shock sent Sora and Marina flying back onto the ground.
The head cloaked figure continued to observe his crystal ball, watching all this take place. The appearance of Marina's face could be seen gritting her teeth when she hit the ground.
"You look… so much like her…".
To Be Continued.
