Charles continues to ignore Fingers and Brains as they chatter over the football match on the television screen. His attention is securely settled at the back of the bar as he observes Molly and her friends playing a round of darts. He feels like a bit on a creepier for spending the whole evening watching her but even after all this time she still has a hypnotic kind of energy that draws his eye right to her.
Molly lands another dart on the bullseye effectively winning the game, she spins around throwing her arms up in victory. "That's how it's done, suckers!" She crows.
"Come over here Dawesey. Let me absorb some of your luck. That's three straight wins for your team." Luke huffs out, downing the rest of his beer and slapping Molly's winnings down on the table. "Oh, don't be spoilsport, Lukey. If you be a good lad, I'll be your partner next round." Molly sings as she dances around him. Katie just laughs as she watches Molly's spirited victory dance no longer surprised by her best mates crazy antics. "Just as long Matt doesn't mind losing his good luck charm." Luke raises an eyebrow at Matt in question.
Matthew catches her arm as she circles around him and spins her into him for their own victory lap. "It's fine with me man. It's probably a good idea to switch partners anyway. Molly and I are both skilled players and the two of us on the same team is an unstoppable force." Matthew brags as he and Molly dance their way back to their friends.
"Don't worry Luke we'll wipe the floor with them this round and you will win all your money back." Molly assures Luke as she reaches out to fist bump with her new partner. True to her word Molly and Luke win the next round.
The group decide to take a break and get some more refreshments, as they make their way back to their table, Matthew feels Molly stiffen up at his side. "You guys go ahead and order. We'll be a there in a minute." He calls to Luke and Katie. He quickly looks back at Molly to see her eyes widened in shock. He follows her line of sight to a booth in the far corner where a curly haired bloke sits staring intensely back at her. "Mols is that who I think it is? You look like you've seen a ghost."
"I might as well have seen a ghost. Yeah it is my ex husband. Captain Charles James." She whispers back in a small voice. She turns into Matthew and snuggles into his warmth. Seeking the steady strength that he has always provided her. Trying to keep her emotions in check.
"What do you want to do?" He brushes his mouth against her ear in question. "You want to leave or do you want to talk to him? It actually might be good for you to talk things over with him and get some closure if you can."
"I guess it is about time for me to face him." Molly sighs. "Walk over with me?" She looks up at him and her beautiful green eyes that usually sparkle with joy and a hint of mischief are now dull with an old sadness in reflected their depths. He pulls her tighter against him and kisses her forehead. Silently sending up a prayer that he can keep his temper in check when he comes face to face with the man who caused her so much pain and heartache.
"I wouldn't have it any other way. I've got your back, love." He assures her as he takes her hand and they make their way over to the booth where Captain James is seated.
Charles eyes widen in slight panic as he realizes they are coming towards him. He takes a deep breath as he watches Molly walk forward clutching her new husband's hand tightly with a look of apprehension painted across her face.
"Hello Molly." Charles breathes out as they stop before his booth.
Fingers and Brains fall silent for the first time that night. Their heads snapping over in near synchronization to gape at the sight of their old medic Molly Dawes standing before their Captain after so many years apart with a new man at her side. Both knowing the night just got a lot more interesting than anything happening on the television.
