It was a cloudy night in Toronto, Canada. Cody Anderson had been spending the night there to visit his longtime best friend, Trent Cooper. They hadn't seen each other since the end of Total Drama World Tour and therefore wanted to catch up. Sat on the roof of Trent's apartment building, the two were enjoying friendly conversation.

"I can't believe it's been so long." Trent laughed, thinking about the last time they spoke. "Last time we saw each other you almost won a sizeable chunk of cash. Commiserations on that by the way man."

"It's okay, I wasn't exactly expecting to win." Cody smiled, before sighing rather sadly. "I think I just wanted to be done with the show at that point. Spending an entire season being abused while watching your friends leave one by one wasn't exactly fun."

Trent sighed. Watching the season play out, he knew how hard it would have been on Cody to live through. "I get it, man. It seems the entire band has had a shitty time on the show."

Cody chuckled, Trent was indeed correct with his assessment. "You can say that again." As they clanked half-drunken beer bottles together, the shorter of the two looked at the sky above. "You know, maybe it wasn't the worst thing though. I mean, we met each other thanks to Chris' sadistic games."

Smiling, Trent put his arm around Cody. "Yeah, we did. And I swear by it that you're the best thing that came out of Total Drama for me. Even Gwen doesn't live up to you Anderson." He smirked, knowing that he was winding Cody up.

Despite the attempt not to, Cody couldn't help laughing at Trent's jokes. "Never do stand-up, man. You're so bad at it." He shook his head, smiling. "You know, you're like a brother to me, man."

Finishing off his bottle of beer, Trent nodded in agreement. "Well, we were both short of one until a few years ago, right?"

Cody stretched his arms, exposing them bare, and Trent's smile quickly dropped. "What happened to your arm?" The latter asked, pointing out the scars.

Sighing, Cody decided to explain. "It's from all the physical trauma I went through on Total Drama. The bear attack, Sierra, the shark, all of it."

The two sat in silence. Clouds shifted across the sky as the legs of the bandmates dangled over the alleyway below. Neither were fully sober, and Trent was trying to comprehend the information he'd just heard.

Then, to break the silence, Cody spoke again. "That's why my left leg is screwed. I didn't sprain my ankle in a show, that was a lie. I will never walk properly again."

Tearing up, the shorter of the two watched the sky in a feeble attempt to take his mind off the topic. But somewhere in the back of his mind, the fact that he couldn't walk properly always haunted him with every step he took, whether it be with his good or bad leg. Hearing Trent sit back up, he sighed dejectedly. "Sorry, it just never leaves, y'know?"

Then, he heard a guitar being played. Sitting up, his spirits lifted slightly as he saw his best friend was the source of the music.

"Hey Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better." Trent sang as he played. "Remember, to let her into your heart. Then you can start to make it better."

The two looked at each other, one with an encouraging smile, the other with hesitation. After a few moments, Cody smiled too, although a little shakily.

"Hey Jude, don't be afraid." The other Drama Brother continued. "You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, then you begin to make it better."

Letting out a little laugh, Cody's smile grew slightly as Trent sang.

"And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain. Don't carry the world upon your shoulders." Trent nodded, remembering the time Cody sang the exact same song to cheer Trent up after he was eliminated from Total Drama Action. "For well you know that it's a fool who plays it cool, by making its world a little colder."

Then, Cody wiped his eyes and put his arm around Trent, joining in. "Hey Jude, don't let me down. You have found her, now go and get her." With the memories of the past returning to the two, they couldn't help but retain their smiles. They were content with each other. Their friendship had outlived every test that had been thrown at it, and they were certain that would continue to be the case. "Remember to let her into your heart, then you can start to make it better, better, better."

"So let it out and let it in. Hey Jude, begin. You're waiting for someone to perform with." The two were really hitting their stride now as they sang together, the tears of sadness being replaced by those of joy. "And don't you know that it's just you, hey Jude, you'll do. The movement you need is on your shoulder."

Nodding to the beat Cody made with his good leg, they continued. "Hey Jude, don't make it bad. Take a sad song and make it better. Remember, to let her into your heart."

"Then you can start to make it better."

As they sang the last line, it struck home for both men what they had with the person sitting next to them. Trent played the last chord on the guitar and set it down, before getting up and helping Cody do the same. "I love you man." Trent told him as he helped him to his feet. As he was caught in a hug, he smiled. Cody also smiled, feeling the pain just a slight bit less in the moment. "I love you too, man."
