Lips of an Angel

Chapter 2: We Have not Moved On

Hinata's POV:

"Well I guess we never really moved on." he chuckles.
"No, we didn't." I sigh. This is so hard I should not have called. We stay in silence for a few seconds neither of us daring to break the silence that settled between us. I can hear his steady breath on the other line. What is he thinking about? Did I put him in an awkward position? I knew it I should not have called. "Naruto, I'm sorry I shouldn't have called and put you in an awkward position. It was selfish of me to call you unexpectedly after years of not speaking to each other, but I just wanted to hear your voice. I'm sorry." I ramble on. Excellent job Hinata you are making a fool out of yourself. I mentally slap at myself for stupidly rambling nonsense. He is probably going to laugh at me and hang up. I bite my lower lip a habit I have whenever I am nervous.

"Hinata, it's fine. You do not need to apologize." he chuckles. It may sound crazy, but I can feel him smiling through the phone. Suddenly, an image of him smiling his foxy smile and rubbing the back of his neck flashes through my mind. That childish smile full of warmth that melted me every time he was excited or happy about something. Oh, how I wish I could be by his side and immerse myself in the warmth of his smile. To be able to feel his lips under my fingertips and take my time tracing his lips as I imprint every detail in my mind. Just thinking about his lips, a familiar warm run throughout my body.

"It's really good to hear your voice. It's been a long time since I heard you say my name." a shiver runs through my spine at hearing sadness in his voice.

"Naruto..." my voice fades I could not continue my sentence. My throat feels so dry I want to tell him what I am feeling and that I want him back, but that would be selfish of me. Our relationship ended long time ago after that horrible event that marked both of us especially me.

Normal POV:

"Don't touch me!" Hinata yells pulling her arm away from his grasp running out of the apartment.

"Hinata wait! Please listen to me!" Naruto runs after her and holds her arm once again trying to stop her from leaving. "Please let me explain."

"I don't want to hear anything coming from you." Hinata struggles to free her arm from his grasp.

"Hinata... Please." Naruto pleads. "I won't let you go until you listen to me." he pulls her towards him. He is not going to let her leave without talking things through and resolve this situation. Besides in the state she is right now he is scared something bad might happen to her. "Hinata look at me." She shakes her head and once again she tries to free herself from him. He tightens his grip around her arm ceasing her attempt to escape. Naruto forcefully turns her around so they could face each other, but she keeps her head down her long dark hair covering her face.

"No." she whispers tears welling up in her eyes. 'Stay strong Hinata. Do not let him see you cry. He isn't worth your tears." Hinata reassures herself. She then feels a warm hand on her cheek forcing her to snap her head up and stare into dark blue eyes. They stare into each other's eyes neither of them daring to look away. She helplessly becomes lost in his eyes and notices the despair in them. She can see him pleading through his eyes for her to give him a chance to explain himself. Not bearing the way he is looking at her she avoids his eyes. Her eyes wonder from his face down his body. Her heart clenches and she feels nauseated when she sees the condition, he is in. His black shirt is unbutton exposing his tan chest and stomach muscles. His jeans are also unbuttoned, and his blonde hair is a mess. She notices red lipstick smeared on his lips and some on his neck.

"Hinata, come inside the apartment it's freezing outside." He shivers. "We can talk and work things out." she does not respond. "Come on Hinata."

"You broke your promise." Naruto's heart clenches when he hears her small voice full of hurt. He fucked up and he knows it. He hurt the most precious person to him for a moment of heat and pleasure. Because of his stupidity he is about to lose everything he worked so hard to accomplish all these years. The love of his life, the only person who understands him and always stood by his side in the good and tough times, and the person who is going to give him what he always wanted, a family is in pain and he has no idea what to do. He stays silent remembering the promise he made to her when they started dating.

"You promised..." her voice breaks. "You promised that you would always love me, and you even gave your word that you wouldn't hurt me, but you went back on your word." tears slowly slide down her flushed face. Naruto panics when he sees her tears roll down her flush cheeks.

"Hinata, please forgive me." He holds both of her hands in his. "Please give me another chance to redeem myself." Naruto pleads in desperation. Unable to speak Hinata shakes her head in response. Naruto's eyes widen when realization hits him. "No, Hinata. Please don't do this. Think about all the wonderful moments we've spent together. All the memories we've made through all these years." tears threaten to fall from his eyes as he continues to ramble. "Think about our son who's growing inside of you."

"Don't you dare involve our son in this!" Hinata snaps at the mention of her child. "You should've thought of him before you fooled around with that whore!" Naruto winces at her words knowing she's right. He should have thought of his son and her instead of acting on his impulses. Hinata leans towards him and pokes her index finger against his chest between every word she says, "Don't ever, listen to me, ever use our son to justify your actions because I'll make sure to destroy you." Hinata stares angrily at him. Naruto gulps when he sees Hinata is not bluffing. She serious about her words.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have involved our son I was just desperate. I don't want to lose you and our child. You both are my everything I'll die if you leave me." His voice breaks.

"It's too late Naruto. You broke the trust I had in you." her eyes soften, but pain is still present in her lavender eyes. "It's over between us."

"Hinata, please don't do this."

Naruto's chest squeezes with regret when he watches Hinata desperately wipe her tears away and try to remain strong, but it is futile. Hinata completely breaks in front of him. The sobs she was holding in flow out through the cold night's air with so much sorrow. Naruto walks up to her unable to bear the sight of her crying her heart out.

"I'm sorry... I'm so sorry." Naruto falls to his knees and wraps his arms around her waist. His face resting against her small bump. Hinata places her hands on his shaky shoulders. Allowing him to embrace her as he too cried his heart out.

~One Week Later~

It's been a week since Naruto and Hinata parted ways. After that night Hinata moved out of their apartment and a few days later she sent Ko to pick up hers and the baby's things to be taken to her father's house. Naruto wasn't thrilled when he opened the door and saw Ko standing in front of his apartment with a serious expression on his face.

"Why are you here?" Naruto asked in a harsh tone.

"Morning to you too, Naruto-sama." Ko politely bows at him. Naruto snickers at Ko's sarcastic greeting. Ko straightens his back and fixes his fancy black suit. "Lady Hinata sent me to gather hers and the baby's belongings."

"Well tell Hinata if she wants her stuff she should come personally and not send her puppets." Naruto crosses his arms in front of his chest in defiance.

"Lady Hinata told me to give you this message in case this happened." Ko reaches into his suit's jacket and pulls out a small purple sticky note. "Here." He hands the note to Naruto who immediately takes it from his hand.

His heart drops when he reads the message, she wrote for him. 'Naruto, I sent Ko to pick up my belongings. I ask of you to not interfere in Ko's job." The message is so simple, yet he could feel the sternness in the message. Without further objections he moves aside to let Ko and the other men inside his apartment.

Naruto stood against the entrance of the apartment as he saw the men carry out everything that belongs to Hinata. On the other side of the entrance Ko stood opposite of him and kept his cold lavender eyes on Naruto taking in his current state. He noticed tiny blond beard stubs growing on Naruto's jaw giving away that he hasn't bothered to take care of his personal hygiene. His hair is longer reaching his shoulders and his fringes covered his blue eyes. He saw how Naruto slouched his shoulders every time he saw a man walk out carrying something that belonged to Hinata or the baby. Ko felt sympathy towards the young man. After making sure they took everything out Ko bowed at Naruto and left without uttering another word to him.

Naruto closes the door after watching Ko leave without saying a word to him. Naruto leans his back against the door glancing around his semi empty apartment. Tears blurry his sight as he slides to the floor bringing his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around his legs. He then buries his head between his legs not wanting to look at his gloomy apartment. He stayed in that position for hours not caring if his legs went numb. He just let his to tears flow out occasionally a sob would escape. The emotions he had bottled up inside of him broke free from his chest finally allowing him to breathe. The heaviness on his chest felt lighter than before, but he could still feel some of it suffocating him. "Hinata..." He whispers her name only to be met with silence.

He hated being alone in this apartment. The memories of her kept him awake at night making it impossible for him to fall asleep. He could even smell her scent in the apartment lavender with a hint of cinnamon. Sometimes he swore he could feel her in the kitchen cooking, and he would jump out of bed and run to the kitchen, only to be met with an empty kitchen. He was tired of lying in bed all day feeling sorry for himself, but he couldn't find the strength to get out of bed, take a shower and meet up with his friends. He's pretty sure his phone is full of missed calls and unread messages from his friends. He just couldn't bring himself to answer their phone calls or reply to their text messages. He didn't want to hear sympathy words coming from them trying to cheer him up. His thoughts are interrupted when he hears knocking on the door. Naruto lifts his face from between his legs but doesn't make any movement to indicate he'll answer the door. He stays still not in the mood to having more visitors. He thought of just letting them knock and they'll probably take the hint and leave him alone, but the person continued to knock. Naruto groans at his bad luck. Whoever is on the other side of the door wasn't going to give up until he opened the door. The knocks became persistent and after a few seconds a woman's voice comes through the door.

"Naruto! It's me Sakura! Please open the door!" Sakura yells still pounding on the door. Naruto stays silent with no intention of standing up and opening the door.

"Go away! I don't want to see anyone!" he answers.

"Please Naruto! Open the door! Its urgent!" he hears the panic in her voice. Something must have happened to cause Sakura to come to his apartment and almost knock his door down. "Naruto please! It's urgent! Hinata was in an accident!" at hearing Hinata's name he jumps up and quickly opens the door coming face to face with a distraught Sakura.

"WHAT HAPPENED TO HINATA?! IS SHE OK? HOW ABOUT THE BABY?!" Naruto bombards her with questions.

"You idiot! Why don't you answer your phone!" she screams at him. She's pissed. "We've been calling and texting you for the past hour, but you wouldn't answer!" Naruto notices her face stained with dried tears.

"My phone is off." he mumbles. Sakura fights the urge to punch him in the face. Right now, wasn't the moment for her to lose her anger. She was here to take Naruto to the hospital. "Sakura tell me what happened to Hinata! Better yet take me to her!" he yells in desperation.

"That's why I'm here you idiot! I'm taking you to the hospital." Sakura replies. "Come on put on your shoes and let's go!" Sakura doesn't wait for him. She heads down the stairs and walks to her car where Sasuke is waiting for them.

~At the hospital~

"Neji!" Naruto runs up to the long brown-haired man who is pacing back and forth in the waiting room. Neji's head snaps up when he hears Naruto called out his name. Naruto stops in front of Neji crouching down with his hands on his knees trying to regain his breath. "Neji- tell me- what- happened! How's Hinata- and the- baby." he says between breaths.

"Hinata was in a car accident." Neji avoids answering the last question. Tenten walks up to him placing a hand on his shoulder and giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"Neji answer me! Is Hinata ok? Is the baby ok?" Naruto starts to get irritated by Neji's silence.

"Hinata is fine. She survived the car crash, but the baby..." Neji couldn't continue. He adverts his eyes away from Naruto's intense gaze and focuses on the floor wishing he wasn't the one delivering this horrible news to him. "The baby didn't survive the impact." he closes his eyes tight not wanting to witness his friend's despair.

"No... No no no." Naruto shakes his head in denial. "This isn't true. You're lying." Naruto stares into Neji's eyes waiting for him to say it's a lie and assure him that the baby is alive, but he only sees sadness in his eyes. Everyone in the waiting room stood still as they watch their friend crumble in pain. They didn't know what to do or what to say to him, so they just gave him space for him to grieve the loss of his unborn child.

Sakura not bearing the sight of her best friend suffering turns around and buries her head into Sasuke's chest staining his black shirt with tears. Sasuke holds Sakura as she cries silently in his arms rubbing her back trying to calm her down.

"I want to see her." Naruto snaps out of his trance. "Neji take me to Hinata's room. I want to be by her side." he wipes his tears away.

"I can't take you to her room." Neji answers.

"Why not?" Naruto could feel anger boiling in the pit of his stomach. "I have every right to be with her."

"The doctor who is treating her prohibited anyone from visiting until she regains consciousness." Neji sighs. "I wasn't even allowed to be with her and I'm her cousin. Hiashi was the only one the doctor allowed to be with Hinata." Naruto groans in frustration.

"Well I don't give a FUCK about what the doctor said!" anger was taking over Naruto. "No one is going to stop me from being with Hinata." He stomps out of the waiting room not knowing where he was going, but he didn't care. He'll find Hinata's room no matter what even if he had to ask every personnel of the hospital. He was determined to find her and stay by her side until she woke up. Sadly, he never had the chance to be by her side.

~Back to the Present~

Hinata's POV:

"I... I'm sorry for calling you..." I apologize once again. I can't think of any else to say to him. My eyes wander to the window; it's still raining outside. I wonder if he's also watching the rain fall against his window.

"It's funny that you're calling me tonight" he chuckles making me smile.

"Naruto, why are you always in my dreams?" I head to the window placing my hand on the cold glass. "Naruto do you..." he interrupts me.

"Yes, I've dreamt of you too." I don't get the chance to answer for a little, sleepy voice catches my attention.

"Momma..."
