Lips of an Angel

Chapter 4: You are Back

"Momma, where are we going?" Boruto asks holding his mother's hand as they crossed the streets. His little blue eyes gazed at the tall, proud standing skyscrapers looming over them with awe. It was his first time being in the city since they moved to Konoha last week and he was filled with curiosity and amazed at seeing dozens of tall buildings surrounding them.

"I have to meet someone important." Hinata replies to her son meanwhile searching for the café where she is meeting the person she talked on the phone. The city was different from what she remembered. New businesses opened along the streets of Konoha which attracted massive people. Some old stores and restaurants she used to visit with her friends and Naruto were still there, but others were replaced by new ones. Still, she could not find her way to the café it must be new because she never heard of it. On each side of the streets were packed with people minding their own business and heading to their destinations.

The crowd walking by Hinata made it hard for her to walk through especially when she is holding hands with her son, who can barely keep up with her steps. Why did she agree to meet in the city? She could not even remember which way she entered the city.

People bumped into her causing her to stumble back and they would apologize to her, others would glare at her and say some nasty words to her. Hinata ignored them and continued to search for the café not wanting to be late to her appointment. "Boruto, do not let go of my hand." she warns her son and pulls him closer to her side. Boruto tightens his hold not wanting to get separated from her.

Time goes by and the café is nowhere to be found causing Hinata to worry. She did not want to be late for her first job that is why she decided to come earlier to find the place. Sighing in defeat she had to admit she was lost. She had been walking in circles for the past hour and she was tempted to call the woman she is meeting with to ask her for more specific directions to the cafe, but she did not want to make a fool out of herself. Besides, she was determined to find the place on her own.

"Momma... I'm tired." Boruto whines. Hinata turns to her son who is dragging his little feet behind him.

"How about we take a break?" She checks the time on her phone. She still had an hour until the meeting. They had plenty of time to take a rest and then resume their search for the café. Hinata looks around to find a place to rest when she notices a convenient store on the corner with some chairs and tables outside. "We can rest over there." she points at the convenient store.

"Ok." Boruto replies and follows his mother to the store.

"Do you want anything from the store?" Hinata asks. Boruto settles down on one of the chairs with his mother's help. Hinata gently removes a strand of blond hair from his forehead and smiles at him.

"Yeah! I want gummy worms and apple juice!"

"That's too much sugar. Choose something else." Boruto frowns at his mother.

"But I want gummies!" he whines. Hinata feels a headache appearing at hearing her son whine. This day was not her day. First, Kiba's sister cancels on her and now she was stuck with her son. Second, she had an argument with Kiba, then she got lost in this huge city, and now she must deal with her grumpy, whiney son throwing a tantrum. She rubs the left side of her temple with her two fingers trying to make the headache disappear. This was going to be a long day and she was not looking forward to it.

"How about we go inside, so you can choose something else?" she tries to persuade the small blond child who in return is being unreasonable.

"I don't wanna. I'm too tired." he whines once again.

"I can't leave you out here on your own." She grabs his arm trying to pull him off the chair, but he holds onto the chairs' arm. "Boruto! Listen to me! You can't stay out here by yourself!"

"I don't wanna!" he repeats himself. Hinata's patience was running low with his son's stubborn attitude. She could not take it anymore and stood her ground. Her face became serious, her eyes narrowed, and spoke in a low, menacing, and authoritative voice.

"Boruto Uzumaki!" Boruto's back automatically straightens at hearing his mother's serious voice. She never called him by his full name which sent chills down his spine. His mother only used that tone and called him by his full name when she was mad. He did not dare to look up and see his mother's angered expression. He stopped his whining and stayed still in his seat waiting for his mother to speak again. "Stand up." she orders and watches her son jump off the chair and stand in front of her with his head hanging low. "Now follow me to the store without uttering another word." he nods.

Hinata makes her way to the store's doors with Boruto behind her. It pained her scolding her son, but sometimes he was too much too handle, and she had to put a stop to it. She did not want him to be a self-centered and obnoxious child.

"Momma... you're mean!" The small boy runs away heading towards the street full of traffic. Hinata's eyes widen in fear watching her son run towards the street.

"BORUTO!" she screams in horror running after the boy. Time slowed down for her she could not feel her legs. Her heartbeat flared up with every step she took towards her running son.

~~Meanwhile~~

"Thanks for the coffee and for the talk." Naruto glances at his wristwatch. "But I should get going before Shikamaru starts bombarding me with calls." He stands up and fixes his black shirt.

"It was nothing. It was nice seeing you again." Sakura smiles. "You should visit us more often. Sarada loves spending time with her favorite uncle." her green eyes rest on her sleeping daughter on the couch. She had fallen asleep an hour ago while she and Naruto were having their interesting conversation.

"I also love spending time with her, but lately I've been so busy with work." he sighs. "But I'll try to visit more often." he smiles. "Well, I should get going." Sakura nods and walks him to the door.

"Ok. Take care of yourself, eat healthily and no ramen is not healthy food. Also, try not to overwork yourself." Sakura watches him put on his shoes as he nods. "And if anything happens with Hinata make sure to call me. Keep me updated ok?"

"Yes, mother." Naruto says jokingly making his worried pink-haired friend giggle at his words.

"You never take anything seriously."

"Nope." He waves goodbye and with that, he leaves Sakura's home to meet up with Shikamaru. Somehow, as he walked to his car, he felt his gut churned warning him something was about to happen soon, and he would not like it. Little did he know what life had stored for him in a few moments.

~~A Few Moments Later~~

"Shikamaru, I'm driving around the city, but I can't find the coffee place." Naruto says looking around the city while trying not to crash his car. "Are you sure you gave me the right address?"

"Naruto, I was about to call you. Moegi made a mistake." he hears his friend sigh through the phone.

"What happened? What did Moegi do?"

"Well, the place where she set up the appointment with the event planner doesn't exist."

"What do you mean it doesn't exist?" Naruto asks confused.

"The place closed down a month ago. Moegi did not know until now when I asked her for the name of the business and the address. I searched up the place so I could input the information in my GPS, but it says it closed down last month." Naruto groans running his hand through his hair exasperated at the situation.

"Tell Moegi to call the event planner and to reschedule the meeting for tomorrow." he steps on the car's brake coming to a halt when the traffic light turns red. "It's already too late to meet up with her. Also, I have a stock meeting with the shareholders of the company in one hour."

"Ummm... Naruto there's another problem." Shikamaru hesitates.

"What now? What did Moegi do this time?" he asks irritated with how things are turning out. The traffic light changes to green and he steps on the gas pedal continuing to drive through the city.

"Naruto... it's about the event planner." Shikamaru takes a pause then a sigh is heard.

"What about the event planner?" Naruto asks clearly irritated with his assistant's behavior. "Shikamaru, speak! You're driving me crazy!"

"Naruto... the event planner is Hinata." Naruto tightens his grip on the steering wheel at hearing Hinata's name. 'Did I hear right? Did he say Hinata?'

"Are you sure? Why would she want to work with us?" he asks.

"I do not know." Replies Shikamaru. Still deep in conversation with Shikamaru from the corner of his eye a yellow flash catches his attention. He squints trying to get a better look at the yellow object running towards the street. His eyes widen in fear when he notices it is a small boy running towards the street right in front of his car. Naruto slams hard on the breaks, the wheels screech loudly as he closes his eyes tight and embraces himself for the impact, but nothing happens.

"BORUTO!" a woman's scream fills the air.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" Naruto screams in panic. "Did I kill him?!" he opens his eyes looking around seeing people gathering around his car. "Fuck! I did kill him!"

"Naruto! What's wrong?!" Shikamaru asks scared at hearing his friend's outburst. "Who did you kill?!" Naruto ignores him and with lightning speed, he unbuckles his seatbelt and gets out of the car with his heart in his throat. The people around them whispered at the commotion others yelled to call an ambulance. Some even stared at him when it was not even his fault that the kid ran in front of his car.

Ignoring their stares, he makes his way to the front of the car to check on the kid. To his surprise, he sees a woman with long indigo hair crouching down with her back turned to him holding the little kid tight against her chest.

"Hey! Are you two ok?" he asks walking up to them checking if they were injured. He hovers over them. "The kid just came out of nowhere! You should be more careful with your kid! I almost ran over him!" Naruto rambles on waving his arms around.

Hinata tenses up when she hears him speak up from behind her. 'Naruto? That's Naruto's voice. Oh my god, this cannot be happening. Why is he even here?' she feels Boruto squirm in her arms trying to get out. 'Boruto! I can't let him see Boruto. But it's impossible for him not to see him. Aish! What should I do?' Her eyes widen when she realizes something. 'Oh god! Boruto has seen Naruto from the pictures I have shown him. He's going to recognize him... I just know Boruto is going to recognize him and everything I planned for him to meet his father is going to go to waste. What should I do?' she grimaces at the thought of Boruto recognizing his father.

"Hey, are you ok?" Naruto asks worriedly about her.

"Yes, I am!" Hinata replies not daring to face him. Not yet, she had to come up with a plan to get away from Naruto. She shakes her head in frustration it was impossible to come up with a plan to get away from him. She knew the moment Naruto saw her he won't let her go and especially when he sees Boruto. It was impossible not to notice Boruto was his father's spitting image. She hugs her son tighter to her chest trying to find strength from her son to face Naruto and get over this situation. This was the only option she had. It was time to face Naruto head-on and to stop running from him.

Naruto crosses his arms in front of his chest and taps his foot impatiently on the street, waiting for her to do something or at least to have the decency to face him and apologize. 'Probably she's still in shock. Should I help her stand up?' His train of thoughts is interrupted when he sees a small head full of blond, spikey hair peek over the woman's shoulder. The little boy's blue eyes look up at him with tears in his eyes. Naruto stumbles back in shock as he runs his eyes over the boy's face taking in his appearance. 'What the hell? Why am I looking at myself? Wait! That's not me!' he gets closer to the kid. 'He looks just like me when I was a kid.' his thoughts are interrupted when the woman stands up, hiding Boruto behind her, and turns to face him.

"Ummm... we are fine." Naruto turns his gaze to her just to come face to face with the woman he's been in love with for so long. The one his heart had yearned for all this time and now she is here in full fledge standing in front of him her beautiful lavender eyes piercing into his. He takes in her appearance her indigo hair was longer falling down her waist. Her face was leaner the baby fat long gone. Her body was slim, but he could still see her curves hugged tightly by her formal, black dress which was tighter around her chest and the length of the dress stopped above her knees. His gaze trailed down to her long, pale legs. He gulps as his eyes lingered on her beautiful long, lean legs. He then notices that she looked a little taller that is when he sees she is wearing black heels. She was beautiful.

"Hinata..." He mumbles in shock. Never in a million years, he thought he would see Hinata again in this troublesome situation. "Hinata, you're back." he gazes into her pretty lavender eyes.

"Naruto..." she blushes and squirms a little when she feels his eyes on her body. "I'm back." she whispers still uncomfortable under Naruto's gaze.

"Momma! You're hurting me." Boruto struggles to free himself from his mother's tight hold. Hinata becomes tense when Boruto speaks up and tries to remove her hand from his arm.

"Momma?" Naruto tilts his head to the side in confusion when he hears the boy speak. "Wait! The little kid that ran in front of my car is your son?" he asks in disbelief. 'No way! She had a kid with Kiba? Wait... If I clearly remember the kid has blond hair and blue eyes and he doesn't look like Kiba or Hinata. When I saw him, I was even taken aback when I saw the similarity, he has with me when I was young. Hmmm... if I'm right he must be five or six years old just like Sarada.' As he puts everything together, suddenly something in his head clicks.

"No, it can't be." He whispers staring at Hinata who is clearly in shock, her eyes are wide with fear and her body is shaking. Naruto clenches his hands into fists as he walks up to her. His emotions were taking over him, and he could not control them. He had to see the little boy once more to confirm his theory.

Hinata watches Naruto angrily strides up to her. She gulps and takes a step back pulling Boruto with her. 'He knows. I can see it in his eyes.'

Naruto grits his teeth tight as he walks by her and comes face to face with Boruto who hides behind his mother, clutching her dress tightly in his small hands and looks up at him scared. Naruto struggles to maintain his emotions when he sees a flash of recognition cross in Boruto's eyes and a huge smile appears on his chubby face. Suddenly, his heart clenches in pain when he hears him whisper the word, he longed with all his heart to hear from him.

"Daddy."
