My life has been very good lately. Mornings sparring with Squalo, afternoons lounging about with Lussuria, and nights in passionate heat with the boss. Just like that, the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into months. One day, I realized the Tenth Generation had been officially leading this famiglia for three years. Save for Lambo, they were all twenty-one and had established their names in our world.

I was thinking about doing something for them. I had a hand in tutoring them during high school so I was proud of them for having come this far. They deserved something for sure and I was in a good mood nowadays so I was surely generous enough to at least buy them a meal.

Lost in bliss, I knew it was too good to be true when the boss handed me a list of names.

"I've never heard of any of these guys. You want them dead or captured?" I grumbled in complaint, offended to be sent on a hit where the targets were all small fry.

"Don't off them." He growled, "Recruit them."

"All of them?!" I can't believe it. This many people caught his eye? I don't know if I'm smoking pissed that I have to do work that doesn't involve killing people or jealous of these fools for catching his eye.

"Not all of them." He sounded annoyed but I knew better. He was masking his embarrassment, "Pick and choose."

"Why?"

"It's time for you to make a team." He said, "I can't let you off without your own team anymore."

"Huh?" I never needed a team before today. I don't understand, "W-Why now? You don't trust me to work alone anymore?!"

"It's about expanding our workforce, not you. Squalo will be taking on trash duty."

Trash duty is code for training newbies without a designated team so…. Sacrificial pieces. I guess Squalo got the short end of the stick cause I'm actually training people for a team.

Placated, I sighed, "Fine."

"Good."

He was in a strange mood. I kind of wondered if something had caused it. I opened my mouth to ask but a knock at the door had me holding my tongue. Licking my lips, I called out, "Squalo? Or Luss?"

"Both~" Lussuria grinned, pushing the door open to wiggle his eyebrows at us suggestively, "I almost thought you were having a morning bout but this is kind of an urgent topic for the two of you."

Squalo looked extremely uncomfortable but not from our partial nudity. He was used to that part already so the discomfort was caused by something else, "The urgent topic is here. In the meeting room. Demanding an audience with the boss."

"Feh." Xanxus waved them away, "No one demands anything from me. Tell them to fuck off."

"Uhhh it's Coyote's daughter." Luss blurted, "We're not trying to get attacked by the Ninth's Storm."

I huffed, mood soured, "You keep in contact with Coyote's daughter?"

Boss rolled his eyes, shoving me out of bed in one brutal push, "You're an idiot if you honestly believe that."

Rubbing my ass, I glared at him as he lazily got up to collect the clothes discarded every which way from last night's activities.

Mid-buttoning, he stalled and then he turned with a deadly glare, "You keep in contact with the Bucking Horse. You're a fucking idiot."

"Lover's spat first thing in the morning?" Luss looked like he was going to die, dramatically sobbing at us, "God help us all."

I rolled into the bathroom lazily, taking my time unlike Xanxus who had a guest to entertain for the time being. Coyote's daughter was… I was kind of curious. What is her name? I forget. I might actually never have known it.

Dressed in uniform and flanked by Squalo on my right and Lussuria on my left, I entered the meeting room where I found Coyote's daughter straddling the boss' hips with her generously sized bosom swaying in his face. He looked rather amused, arms crossed over his chest but eyes hungrily taking in the body. I snorted, drawing his attention and then shrugging casually.

"A job?" I asked, playing cool for now, "Or a personal favor?"

"Lord above please say a job." Lussuria muttered from my left, "Please say it's a damned job."

"A little bit of both." Xanxus' lips curved into a smirk. He knew my cold outer shell wouldn't hold for long, "I was offered money to take her to the Vongola Christmas party on my arm."

"Oh?" I dared him to say yes in my silent way, glaring at him as if I could burn a hole straight into his big, fat head, "But wouldn't that be the other way around? She's asking to take you on her arm."

"I'll pay you with more than just money." She murmured in a sultry tone, pushing up her breasts closer to his nose. She smiled seductively when she noticed his eyes had left me and returned to that massive rack of hers, "If you know what I mean."

"That bit-" Lussuria almost cursed at her but he was surprised when I spun, pressing a hand over Squalo's chest.

With my back turned to him, I could feel his eyes burning into the back of my head as I gazed up at Squalo who stared down at me with an unchanged expression. I got on my toes, curling a hand around the back of his head to lower him to my height. I whispered into his ear, "I have no idea what I'm doing but if I whisper dirty things in your ears will you blush and make him jealous?"

Squalo was already starting to turn red. He was easily embarrassed by these things after all. He scowled, furrowing his brows as he whispered back, "He's going to shoot me."

"Then I'll bite her to death." I whispered back, lips almost brushing his bright red ears as I turned to smirk at Xanxus over my shoulder, "I can play his little game too."

Boss was furious. He was glaring straight at me but he wouldn't let me win. He placed a well-controlled hand on the small of her back, dangerously close to her ass.

Jealousy kicked me in the lurching stomach and I hissed, "Squalo-senpai, if I kiss you, are you going to freak?"

"Y-Yes." He managed to choke in the same whisper.

Fuming but respecting his honesty, I stormed out saying in an obnoxiously loud voice, "Ahhh I guess I'll go ask Yamamoto Takeshi to have lunch with me."

A single shot went off and I froze, letting it scrape by my ear dangerously close. I turned a glare over my shoulder, not bothering to wipe the blood from my knicked earlobe, "You missed."

Xanxus cocked the gun a second time, "No, I didn't and I'm not going to miss this time either."

"Except this time you're aiming at my brains?" I sneered at him, undaunted, "Shoot me, you ass."

He really shot at me but my instincts never lie. I ducked sharply and dove, rolling out into the hallway and then again out of his line of sight.

"You suck!" I shouted back at him, marching away. With Coyote's daughter straddling his lap, he wasn't about to come after me. I stormed away to make good on my promise to have lunch with Yamamoto but then… that would be too predictable.

I grinned to myself and drove to the Cavallone estate.

When I arrived the scene unfolding in front of me had me frozen in the driveway. Dino was with another woman. I had never thought I would see the day Dino was on a date. I mean, he has every right to but some part of me didn't want to believe this scene was playing out right in front of me.

Dino's lover looked like an elegant noble. Physically, she seemed to suit him. He looked like a handsome prince and she was every bit the princess on his arm but there was something in her eyes that made me think appearances meant very little.

It looked like she was just on her way out as he was leading her down the driveway towards the waiting limo. Romario was her driver. If Romario was stepping away from Dino to drive her home, she was someone precious to him.

I had to reevaluate the situation when Dino opened the door for her and leaned in to kiss her but he reeled back, embarrassed and apologetic. She wasn't his lover. At least not yet.

Mid-apology, he caught a glimpse of me. Surprised to see me, he called out, "Kira? What are you doing here?"

The young lady turned and spotted me. Her eyes followed Dino as he abandoned the door he had opened and came to greet me. I didn't miss the look of envy in her eyes. Interesting.

He didn't think twice before embracing me, "It's been a while. How are you?"

"I came to complain about my incredibly selfish boss but I saw something interesting." I smirked at the blush spreading across his face, "Judging by what I just saw, you haven't claimed her yet?"

"Cl-Claimed?" He was clearly flustered, "I guess not. Hahaha… She rejected me."

Now that was a surprise. She rejected him but then why does she look offended by my existence. Clearly, he hasn't told her about our relationship or lack thereof.

"How come?" I drove the investigation a little deeper, taking interest in the way she stiffened when we made eye contact. We were out of earshot so the confusion muddling her look of envy was not unwarranted. She wanted to hear what was being said.

Nervous, Dino whispered, "Well… You see, she's not too happy with our… difference in standing?"

"Difference in standing?" I thought about it for a moment and then asked, "That means she's a… poor person?"

He hesitated, making a noise of discomfort and then he admitted, "She's a former escort."

I gasped, disgusted and intrigued at the same time, "A prostitute? Don't tell me you went looking for a decent fuck and ended up falling in love."

"No!" He shook his head vigorously, "She's someone who was sold into the business by her parents. They needed money so they sold her into slavery as a child. When she grew up and ran away from her captors, she became a prostitute because that's all she could do."

"A classic story. She must be from the same area as the boss." I scoffed at the very thought, "But then how did you meet?"

"A while back, we had people on our turf dabble in human trafficking. When I went to shut them down, she was among the young ones I rescued." He grinned proudly at the thought of his good deed, "When I asked where I should return her to, she told me she didn't have a home to go back to so I found her a job in the city. I've been keeping in contact ever since then. I even took her on a couple big dates."

"Then what's the problem?"

"She doesn't want to marry me because she feels bad about not having any money and she's… err… got low confidence cause she was an escort." He admitted, pressing a finger to his lips, "Keep this between us?"

"Introduce me." I suggested, "I can fix her problem."

"I don't know… You might uhh… Not be- Kira!"

I went storming over with Dino stumbling behind me. I'll fix Dino's problem right here, right now.

Smiling a faux-smile I didn't know I could produce, I reached out a hand, "Hello. My name is Hibari Kira."

"I'm Serena. Pl-Pleased to meet you." She said, grasping my hand warily. Her handshake was much too gentle. She wasn't a fighter.

"I've heard so much about you." I lied right in her face but does it matter?

Dino's anxious, "What are you doing?" was ignored by the both of us.

She was clearly interested in me, "Well, Dino has never spoken about you. Please, tell me how you met."

"We went to school together." I told her, "How did you meet him?"

She couldn't answer honestly. She didn't want me to know. She felt inferior to me already, "I-I… Just at a bar."

"Hm." I pressed the topic, "You don't seem like the type to frequent bars."

"It was a rare outing." She was a terrible liar. She was visibly sweating.

"Well, perhaps, someday you and Dino would join my lover and myself on a double date?" I requested something I had never even thought to request. My original reason for coming here was forgotten temporarily.

"Eh? No. We're not…" She blushed darkly and I knew she was just lying to herself.

"Oh? Do you not have feelings for him? Was I mistaken?" I smirked, revealing my true colors when her eyes went wide in shock, "Did I misread the look of mild jealousy on your face a moment ago?"

Her default response was to lie to get out of her situation but I wouldn't let her. I had her right where I wanted her.

I sharply cut her off, "Then you wouldn't mind if I borrowed him would you? You see, my lover agreed to take another woman to a big social event this morning. I want to take revenge. If Dino would take me on his arm, I would be in a good position. She had feelings for him. Dino had feelings for me. We would be even."

I saw it flicker in her eyes. Everything was falling into place. She was not a fighter but she was getting angry for him. She didn't want me to take advantage of his feelings for me nor did she want him to take me in the first place. But I was out of time, my game was over. I could feel him approaching. I can always feel him-Xanxus.

A car pulled up on the driveway and I turned, giving her my final push, "Well? He's here now. May I borrow him? If he belongs to you then I won't touch him but if you don't speak up, I'll use him."

I reached for Dino slowly but she was faster. She snagged his arm and pulled with all her might. She was a weakling. He smiled and walked to her side, knowing she was not going to be able to move him.

I smiled for real at the look on her face. She was now resolved to keep him. This was the push she needed. Dino mouthed a silent word of gratitude to me. He owes me.

"Let me share something with you, herbivore." My created image faded away and I turned, eying Xanxus as he got out of the car he had arrived in, "When a man of the mafia says you are the one and promises you the place by his side, he has already determined you are his best choice. Even if you cannot fathom your own worth and value, he has already seen it and embraces it all. That's why you must not make the choice for his sake but for your own."

"Wh-What?"

"If you are the woman he chose, he will come to you no matter what. And if he is the man you chose, you will greet him when he comes."

"I don't understand…" But her eyes said otherwise. She knew I was talking about Dino's request to make her his lover, "What if I'm not worthy?"

"That's not your choice to make. You see… Dino has already determined you were worthy. If he didn't think you were a worthwhile person, he would not have asked for your company." I grinned at the boss who spread his arms wide with a commanding glare, "Now the ball is in your court. Let your desires and instincts make your decision."

She glanced up at Dino nervously but she already realized where her instincts had taken her. She had taken hold of the man she thought was hers. Realization made her eyes spread wide and she turned her gaze back to me in wonder.

Smiling briefly, I turned once more to face the boss who was waiting for me impatiently, "And Coyote's daughter?"

"Her?" Xanxus scoffed, taking one more step into the room and no more, "I sent her home."

"For today." I corrected, "But the party?"

"The one I'm taking is you so unless you want to share, she's not coming." He cocked his head towards the door with a smirk, "If you don't come here, I'm going to fuck you right where you're standing."

Chuckling, Dino gave a tilt of his head towards the boss, "You promised us a double date, Kira."

I turned, telling Serena one more time, "He came to me because he knows my worth. And I know his worth so shouldn't I meet him halfway at the very least?"

I knew she understood. If Dino had chosen her, it was not the time to be concerned with her worth. It was now the time to be concerned with his worth. If she truly has feelings for him, it was an insult to Dino's taste in women for her to be concerned with her own worth.

I left them be. They had much to discuss. Mood improved, I approached the boss and allowed him to take me back to HQ. I told him I didn't appreciate the unfaithful flirting and he told me he knew. He didn't answer whether or not he would be doing it again in the future but I knew he understood my feelings. Otherwise, he wouldn't have come.

O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O~O

"So what do you think?" Sawada's team was gathered around the table. Sawada himself was staring at me nervously, waiting for my response.

He had just explained the idea of a Vongola Tournament to me in full. The logic was simple. The tournament was a tournament between powerful famiglias. They would select five of their strongest warriors and fight for the right to have one wish granted.

The tournament would be held at Mafia Land each year. The end goal was to prevent large scale wars and threatening activity by providing an opportunity for our enemies/rivals to gain power through this event. If the winner of the tournament could have any wish granted, they could easily overthrow the Vongola Family through fair means by winning the tournament.

I highly doubt it will prevent wars forever as I'm sure the rivals will find out eventually that we're the most powerful family to ever rule the streets of Italy and they won't be able to beat us-ever. However, it will keep them satisfied for at least a few years.

"I don't oppose it." I told him, "But are you prepared for the consequences of any potential losses?"

"I am." He said, looking more resolved than I had seen him in a long time, "This year we'll do it as an example. The demonstration match will be done between Dino-san's team and … I was hoping you would lead the second team."

I was baffled. Our boss tried to shove a team onto me this morning and now Sawada. What kind of bullshit are these guys pulling?

"Why me?" I demanded as it was all I could do at this point. I highly doubt the boss would join forces with Sawada to cause me any suffering so I need answers.

"Why not?" He said, "I picked you because I think you deserve to have a wish granted just like I picked Dino-san for the same reason."

"And what if my wish is to unseat you for the boss?"

"It's not." He smiled with the utmost confidence, "But if that was your wish I'd say thank you. You remember that I'm not Vongola Decimo because I wanted to be, right?"

That is the most true statement about Sawada Tsunayoshi. He never wanted to become the tenth boss. Everyone knows he refused many times over before finally taking his place.

"Fine." I said, "I will gather a team. What are your rules?"

"There aren't any complex rules. Each team will be a team of five at most." He told me, "You can recruit anyone you want but it's best to choose someone who has your best interests at heart. Winning team's leader will get their one wish granted. Of course I'm asking you not to kill anyone but at the actual tournaments, 'accidental' killings will probably be numerous."

"So there are no restrictions on the members I recruit? So I could potentially request your Guardians to become my allies?" I only had Kyoya in mind but I didn't want to specifically say it.

He smiled again as if he could see the very thoughts in my head, "Unfortunately, Hibari-san will be siding with Dino-san this time."

"A… What?" I must've looked like an idiot, staring at the young man with my gaping, wide-open mouth.

"Hibari-san was already invited to side with Dino-san." Sawada said it again for me in a soft tone, "And he accepted knowing I would select you as the second team's leader so you're better off not asking him."

"I see." I said flatly, "Well, that's fine. I have others to ask. It's fine."

It's not fine. How could he do this to me? I was abandoned by my own brother. Cruel.

But it doesn't matter. I was ready to ask my team to stand with me.

I had just returned to HQ when I realized something. This whole wish granted thing was meant for me. If I ask these guys to team up with me, are they going to demand that I use the wish for them? Well, I'm not worried about anyone except for Xanxus. None of the other guys have any dangerous wishes.

I have a wish in mind but I don't see our boss as the kind of guy who would let me waste this opportunity on my debatably cowardly wish. So, I did the only thing I could possibly do and ran straight to Squalo first.

Good old Squalo-senpai agreed immediately and then proceeded to be an asshole by asking, "So, did you tell the boss?"

My silence was enough of an answer for him.

"Which means you have a wish?" He gathered the answer on his own, "And you won't ask him to fight with us? So who else did you ask?"

"... you were the first." I admitted, turning away when he showed off an all-knowing smirk, "Shut it. I have three more members and you're not helping."

"I think you should ask the boss." He said, grunting when I elbowed him in the gut for being a lunatic, "I'm serious. He's going to find out sooner or later and if you're not the one who told him… Well, he'll kill you a little later but he'll kill you anyways so you might as well try to persuade him before he grabs the gun."

He's right. I knew Squalo was right so I gave in after a violent but short denial period. An even shorter amount of time later, I was standing stiff in front of the boss who sat leisurely in his chair with a bottle of liquor in one hand.

I just broke the news to the boss and I ended by telling him I have a wish I want granted.

He lowered his bottle just the smallest bit and said, "Good for you. Did you gather a team from the list I gave you?"

"Uhh…" Well, that's not the reaction I expected so I was a little confused, "No, I thought we could fight together. I asked Squalo."

He hummed and swirled the liquid in his bottle around for a moment. He was clearly putting some thought into it but I couldn't really tell what he was thinking about, "Fine. The tournament is too close for you to train a reliable team from scratch in time. Pick whoever but look over the list. I'll shoot you if you don't gather a squad when you're done with this tournament."

It wasn't the reaction I thought he would have but I could've misread his words. I had to be certain, "You… I have a chance to have any wish I want granted."

He snorted, going back to his drinking, "Yeah? Go get it granted. If you lose, you're fired. We don't allow losers in our ranks, Kira."

"Did you not hear me? Any wish I want." I told him again, "Meaning if I wish for you to be Decimo, you can get it."

"Feh." He threw the bottle at me without much effort. It missed me by a mile and shattered on the wall before he said, "He chose you. The wish is yours. I'm not stealing shit from my woman."

Should I have been insulted by the "my woman" comment? Well, if I was supposed to be insulted, my brain and my heart didn't agree with it. A blush exploded across my cheeks and I was a stuttering mess.

"W-Wha-What? I wouldn't give it to you anyways!" I huffed and proceeded to storm out.

He chuckled quietly and called out after me, "You forgot to ask me to fight with you."

"You're mine so you'll do what I want!" I shouted back at him and stormed off shouting, "Squalo! I found our third team member!"
