Ruby grew up and trained in Atlas along with Winter Schnee. She is sent to Beacon to spy on Ozpin because General Ironwood does not trust him any longer. 2. Chapter 2

CHAPTER TWO A/N

Hey guys. So, before someone tries to review like "you can't have an A/N as a chapter" yes, I know that. This should be temporary. I wanted to talk about something that I only now realized was a major issue. Over the course of these last few hours, I've watched a few videos on how RWBY utterly fucked up its portrayal of racism, oppression, and all the things that go along with that. I want to say that I am appalled at the fact that I didn't see how bad it truly was. Yes, I drew plenty of parallels between the White Fang and the fight for equality in America. I did not realize how badly it was portrayed in this show and thus, I'm going to do my best to fix this.

That being said, it's going to take me a bit longer to actually formulate the plot for this story, especially how Cinder, Roman, and others from the Salem Faction treat the White Fang and how RWBY seems to push only peaceful protest as a way to get equal rights for the White Fang. I may even have to rethink the teams I want to make out of the (known) first year students and their reactions to people like Cardin, who actively bully faunus. This is also going to change how/if Beacon falls, the events at Haven, and other events from Volume 6, 7, and the little bits of 8 we have.

I do want to warn you, however, that I have never faced oppression like so many others, despite being a part of a minority myself. [For reference, I am part Native American, and had I been raised with my tribe instead of in a middle-class, midwestern town I probably would understand these issues better.] Since I've never experienced oppression like many others have, my own depiction of those issues in Frozen Roses may not be accurate either, and I apologize in advance. If you are someone who has experienced oppression and you notice something is glaringly wrong with my portrayal, please DM me and I will do my best to fix it as fast as I can.

Again, trying to change the RWBY-verse to better reflect the real world issues it tries (and fails) to shine a light upon is going to take time. I know I absolutely suck at updating my fics on a regular basis, but I'm going to try to work on that. Given the current issues in our world right now (boy, 2020 really does suck…) I have plenty of time on my hands to actually work on this. I can't promise regular updates, but I'll sure as hell try.

Anyway, that's it for this little placeholder. I hope to have the next chapter up soon, and I'm probably going to be editing the ship-list for this story due to some of the changes I'm going to make in the RWBY-verse.
