The two boys had known each other since middle school. Was it always clear they were meant to date? No, not at all. Harry and Draco were happy with each other anyway.
They were both 17 now. They have been dating for about a year. Harry was always trying to introduce Draco to new things. Draco didn't specifically get to make many choices as a kid, so Harry tried to take Draco all kinds of places so he could see it all.
"Harry, Where are we going this time?" Draco asked as he got into Harry's car.
Harry smiled. "Trust me, this is gonna be fun."
"I trust you and all, but where are we going?" asked Draco once more.
"You'll see. It's not that far of a drive."
Harry was right, it wasn't too long of a drive. The parking lot was close to empty. The building was fairly large, but lots of noise was coming from it.
"Are you ready to learn how to roller skate?" Harry asked, grinning at Draco.
"Potter, No," Draco said sternly.
"Potter? You only call me that when you're mad." Harry looked at Draco sadly. "Please don't be mad."
"Harry, you're lucky I love you." Draco looked at Harry. "Let's go."
Inside the roller rink, it was exactly what Draco thought it would be. It had a black carpet with neon patterns, but that's only what surrounded the huge rink. It was somewhat dark because the main light source was a disco ball hung in the middle of it all.
"Do you want to eat or skate first?" Harry asked.
"I don't know," Draco responded anxiously.
Harry took Draco's hand and looked into his eyes. "It's ok. Let's skate first so you can get it over with, and then we can get food."
"Ok," Draco smiled.
"I'll go get the skates, you look for a place for us to sit," Harry started to walk away then turned around. "Or we can go together."
They got the skates and started to put them on. Draco's were old so he couldn't tell what color they were but they had yellow wheels. Harry's were white but dirty with black wheels.
"Are they supposed to be tight?" Asked Draco trying to tie one of the skate's laces.
"Yeah," He knelt down and tied Draco's skate. "So they don't get to lose while skating."
"Interesting," Draco commented. Harry stood up and offered Draco his hand.
"Shall we?" Harry asked. Draco tried to stand up but slipped.
"Harry I-"
"It's ok Draco, just take my hand."
Draco nodded his head. "Ok," He stood up with Harry and entered the rink.
"Do you want to hold on to the wall for a bit?"
"Yeah," Draco replied quickly.
"Hey, watch this." Harry simply skated forward a bit then glided for a bit.
"Harry, you're forgetting I don't know how to do this."
"Oh yeah, Sorry." He started back. "Ok, I'm back. So all you do is push off with the stoppers at the front."
"Ok, but what if I'm about to fall?"
"Just don't lean back, but bend your knees," Harry explained.
"Alright."
"Give it a try, Draco." Suggested Harry.
Draco shook his head. "I kind of like it here though,"
"Come on Draco."
"No,"
"Fine, I'll just be over there." Harry pointed across the rink. He was about to skate away when he heard Draco.
"Harry, wait." Draco grabbed his arm.
"Draco, what is it?"
"I- What if I fall?" Asked Draco looking down.
"Love, I'm not going to let you fall." Harry gave Draco's hand a squeeze.
"You promise?" Draco asked.
"Of course I promise," Harry reassured. "I'll start you out small."
"Are you underestimating me?"
"Draco, you just made me promise not to let you fall." Harry pointed out.
"Oh, I'm not allowed to secure my safety?"
"Don't be like that." Harry laughed lightly. "Do you want me to teach you or not?"
"Ok, ok. Where do you want me to go?"
"Hm." Harry skated only a few feet ahead. "Can you make it to me?"
Draco skated a few feet, his hand hovering over the wall as he went. "Harry I did it!"
"You sure did, I'm so proud of you." Harry beamed.
"I'm not a child Harry."
"Yeah, maybe, but can you do it without the wall."
"Yes, I can. Watch this." Draco skated across the rink. Then waved to Harry.
Harry skated to Draco. "You're a fast learner."
"Of course I am," Draco smirked.
"Alright, can we get food now?"
"Yes, my feet hurt so bad because of these skates."
They were sitting in a booth together at an 80s themed diner, listening to the odd music playing. All of the colors were clashing horribly, but was that not the point of the 80s? Draco was looking around. He hadn't been here before so it was all new to him. Harry had been here many times. Alone, with Ron, on failed dates with girls, he hardly knew. He was staring at Draco.
"What should we order?" Draco looked at Harry.
"Um, they have nachos?" Harry suggested
"Ok, we should order that."
A while later the nachos were sitting in the middle of the table. Draco wasn't very hungry, but he still ate a few. Harry was just taking a bite when the cheese dripped to his chin. Draco reached over the table and wiped his chin.
"Potter, sometimes you're such a child." Draco scoffed.
"That just means you have to take care of me."
"How did I end up with you?" Draco laughed softly.
"You just asked."
"Dang you Harry," Draco said sarcastically.
"Love you too."
"Thanks for letting me stay over."
"Draco, you don't have to thank me. We're not even in the house yet."
Draco looked at Harry. "The stars are really pretty-"
"But not as pretty as you." Harry grinned.
"Can't you tell when someone's about to use that line?" Complained Draco.
"Well, It's true."
They stayed out in that car for a long time. Smiling at each other. Knowing what they had was something truly special to them. They were happy with one another, Harry and Draco in it together.
