Part 11

Elijah paced back and forth in his room, running his fingers through his hair. He couldn't remember the last time he would have felt so restless. Something was wrong, he was sure of it. He was unable to relax, not to mention get some sleep. All he could think about was her. Kol's wife. There was something wrong with her.

Was she a witch? Was this some kind of a spell? It had to be. Why else would he feel like this? Lust. Pure lust. This had to be a spell. But why would Kol do something like this? It seemed that he cared about his wife, why would he want other men to lust over her? Unless… Kol wasn't doing this. She was. Maybe she had put a spell on Kol as well. Maybe she was here to harm Hayley and the baby. No. Elijah wasn't going to let that happen. He needed to stop her. Determinedly he stormed out of his room and almost bumped into her in the hallway. She was only wearing Kol's dark green shirt.

"Hello," she greeted Elijah smiling.

He stared at her, unable to speak. Her lips… He needed to taste them. Her breasts, her hips, her thighs… He needed to have her. Right now. He needed to push her against the wall and lift her up. Take her right there. Claim her. Make her moan the same way she had before…

"No," she stated firmly.

"What?" he murmured.

"No," she repeated. "My body doesn't belong to you."

Elijah pressed his lips together, trying desperately to regain control.

"What are you doing to me?" he snarled while pressing her against the wall.

She looked at him calmly.

"Nothing."

"You're lying," he snapped. "Lift your spell right now!"

She shook her head.

"There's no spell. There's just me."

Elijah glared at her, unsure of what to think.

"What are you?"

"I've been called many things," she replied calmly. "A loony. A bitch. A whore. A freak. Kol never calls me any of those things. He calls me beautiful. His darling. His love."

"Are his feelings for you real or have you done something to him?" Elijah asked sharply.

The girl smiled at him.

"You care about him."

"He's my brother, of course I care."

"He's not so sure about that. You've betrayed him more than once."

"You don't know anything about me," Elijah snapped.

"Everyone says that," she hummed. "I can see the conflict in you."

"What are you talking about?"

"The mask you wear," she hummed. "It's your shelter. It protects you from all the guilt. So much darkness… You fight so hard against it. So do I. We mustn't let it win."

Her voice was soft. Gentle. And her eyes… Her gaze made Elijah feel naked. He hated it. This had to be just another trick. Well, it wasn't going to work, he would…

"I'm not here to harm you or your family," she stated before he could properly formulate his thought. "I only wish to protect my love. As long as you won't hurt him, I won't hurt you."

Elijah raised his eyebrows.

"I see. And you think you could hurt me?"

She smiled.

"I can be bad if I have to be."

"I can believe that," Elijah murmured.

She was a very strange creature, but for some reason Elijah believed that she meant his family no harm. Or was she using some kind of mind control on him?

"No," she stated. "I'm not doing anything to you."

That had to be a lie. Why else would he feel like this?

"What are you?" he asked again.

"Flora," she replied calmly. "Kol's wife. He's my only love."

"Is that so?"

She nodded.

"He's mine. I won't let anyone take him from me again."

"What do you mean 'again'?"

She pouted her lips.

"He was away for a long time. I missed him every single moment."

"Wait, you two met before he was daggered?"

"Yes, we did. He found me and saved me from the bad place. My dark knight."

Elijah frowned as he observed her. This meant that she was over a hundred years old. He had assumed the whole time that she was a vampire and that probably was the case, but… Something didn't add up. Her scent… Why didn't she smell like a vampire?

"May I have it back now?" she asked, cutting off his thoughts.

"What?"

She glanced at Elijah's hand. It was cupping her breast. His eyes widened; he couldn't recall doing that. Had his hand been there the whole time?

"I… I'm sorry, I didn't mean…" he managed to say, but he still didn't let go.

"Give it back please," she stated firmly.

He let go and took a step back.

"I apologize, I don't usually…"

"I know," she replied. "I want to go to my husband now."

Elijah wasn't finished with her yet, but he couldn't stop her either. He picked up the scent of her hair as she walked past him.

"There's no spell. There's just me."

Yes, but what was she exactly? Elijah sighed and returned to his room. He needed to clear his thoughts. A cold shower sounded like a good place to start. And he most certainly needed to have a word with Kol first thing in the morning.
