The ship shuddered to a landing, its long legs extending out and wobbling to a halt on the sand with as much grace as a new-born colt. The pilot sighed, and with a couple of harsh jabs at the console, turned the engines off. The whole machine was a nervous, awkward, over-reliant brute and, not for the first time during his journey, Lexand'r cursed himself that he chose such an unadvanced machine.
"Not that we had much choice eh," he muttered to himself, taking two long strides over to the window and sighing as he jabbed at the button to bring down the screen. It did not respond, of course, and he headed to his sleeping quarters to retrieve his goggles. If he was going to look at what was left of this god-forsaken planet, he would have to venture outdoors himself.
This task was a challenge. The planet was searing hot and covered in a thick dust, which would make it difficult to see. Lex would have taken the minute security that the junk of a ship provided him with over nothing, but then he would not be able to scan the area without being detected. If he hadn't already, the cynical voice in his head reminded him, he severely doubted the ship's "protective" Invisi-Shield worked either.
Lexand'r had to check the planet, he told himself, pulling his goggles over his head. The chance of his sister being here was small, since the planet was so hot and close to a burning star it would take an idiot to bring Starfire there. But, he supposed, they would have to be idiots to kidnap his elder sister- and the rightful heir to the Tamarean throne- in the first place.
If there was the smallest hint of a chance she was there, he would find her. Opening the doors manually, he stepped into the desert-hell, he would not return home without her.
That night the planet turned cold, and sleep evaded him.
His search had been unfruitful, and he had far too much energy from being directly exposed to the light that the planet both absorbed and gave out. The coldness of the night didn't affect him much, the light that flowed through his body was icy, and the fire that shot from his fingertips was of the same sub-zero temperature. He turned over in his cot and reached for his screen.
The screen showed a list of planets, ones he had already searched where crossed off and the ones to come remained. He could not stop until he had found Koriand'r and returned her to their home- Tamarind- which had dissolved into chaos without her. The next planet on the list was Earth, one he had studied before with much interest but never visited. He should not go there alone, he knew, Earth's technology was not advanced but was by no means weak, you couldn't just land a ship there.
Something buzzed about him. The energy from being too close to a light source was dancing through his veins and adrenaline rushed through him. He restlessly pulled himself from his cot, brushing one hand over his head as he considered flying to Earth. If there was ever a moment to do something so risky, now was the time. His legs were already taking him to his flight console and his body nestling into the worn seat.
It was dangerous to go there, and he knew there were many beings on Earth. He would be a long time on the planet and while he trusted reports that as an alien being he would be able to survive, he knew that it would take a miracle to find her, if that's where she had been taken.
But without her, Lex would never go back home.
Their eldest sister Komand'r would have his head for leaving her, betraying her. Kom had always despised Kori for taking her position as heir to the throne. After being born unable to produce enough light to fly, Kom had forfeited her right to become queen, leaving Kori to take the crown. If he didn't go home with their sister, and their Queen, he would float around space forever.
On the journey, he was able to do further research of the planet, and nothing he saw was particularly glorious. While it seemed like a mundane speck in the galaxy, something had pulled him to earth for a while. Something black and dangerous - not necessarily something that reminded him of his sister- but something that he knew his sister would not shy away from. His sister was drawn to the light, to justice, and to those who embodied it. This was what would make her their queen back on Tamaran.
There were four siblings, Komand'r, Koriand'r, Lexand'r and Ryand'r, their names Blackfire, Starfire, Icefire and Darkfire in English. They were the Princesses and Princes of their planet, they were powerful beyond belief. Komand'r though, was slightly less powerful. As the first female, Kom should have been in line to the throne, but she had developed a disease in infancy that robbed her of the ability to harness solar energy and fly. Kori was to take her place, before she had mysteriously disappeared. Kom was certain that Kori had fled- too scared to take responsibility for their kingdom, or too scared to challenge Komand'r official, or some other excuse that Lex knew not to be true. Kori didn't run, so she must have been taken, and Lex would bring her back.
As the ship approached Earth, Lex said a small prayer and switched the ship's Invisi-Shield on. It juttered, like a nervous speaker at a wedding, and did nothing.
Lex cursed as the ship entered the atmosphere of the planet, the light burning around the vehicle and giving Lex another well-needed adrenaline rush.
"Come on you bastard," he muttered out loud, flicking the switch on and off once more. He was already aware that Earth's defenses would have been alerted to an unknown object travelling at speed and entering their atmosphere.
With an audible sigh of relief, the ship activated it's shield, and Lex was safe, he steered steadily though his hands shook with excitement. This had to be a good sign. Kori had to be here.
Landing over a large body of water, the ship evened-itself out, but Lex knew he had to land soon. The idea that the ship would not be able to get them back to Tamaran again had always been at the back of his mind, but he ignored it still. He had relied on luck to bring him to Kori so far, and he relied on it still to transport him the 26-light-years away back home.
A large surface emerged on his radar. Land, but as Lex approached he realised it was not the green and brown surface he had read about in books. Ice?
"It's a sign," he nodded to himself, and parked the ship on a huge surface of ice. By shutting the ship down in invis-shield mode, the shield would remain intact, he just prayed he would be able to find it again in the white wilderness.
He packed a bag, content that if he had been spotted then he would have company by now, and set off across the ice to find someone-anyone.
Hi all. It's been a real while since I did anything like this. Lockdown has hit me hard ha!
I remember watching Titans around 2 years ago and that's when I came up with the idea for Icefire. I even made some graphics on tumblr for him- he's the best.
I'm rewatching Titans now and making some notes but I think my plan will be that Lex can track Kori through her use of her power... we'll see how it goes.
He's going to follow her from Season 1 and keep going as I go (we'll see how it works out). Your thoughts would be AMAZING! And if you want to see some inspo / graphics I made in the past for Lex please let me know on PM.
