Imagine being Caroline's little sister and Klaus having a crush on you
Being the younger sister of Caroline Forbes definitely wasn't the best thing in the world, but it wasn't the worst either. Sure, you got a bunch of people protecting you, looking after you, but that also prevented you from making a lot of your own decisions. It always seemed like somebody was controlling your life for you, and you hated it. You knew it was just because they loved you and cared for you, but you wanted to nothing more than to be free for once.
It wasn't like you were a helpless human, you got turned at the same time as your sister. You were just as strong and powerful as her, and you could take care of yourself. What made it even worse was that the original hybrid had taken a liking to you. That put everybody else on extra protective mode but you couldn't help but feel something for him.
You knew it was wrong and that you should hate him, but you couldn't bring yourself to. It was wrong to care for him, but you did anyway, despite what Caroline and her friends had told you. And that is exactly why you were attending the Mikaelson ball like he had asked you too. He had given you a dress and despite Caroline's efforts to convince you not to go, you decided to go anyway.
You checked your hair and makeup in the mirror, before going out the door and to Caroline's car. You got into the passenger's side, and looked to her.
"Ready to go?" You asked.
"Yeah, I still can't believe you're going with Klaus," Caroline said, driving towards the mansion.
"I know, but I couldn't just say no," you said, rereading the invitation that sat in your lap.
"Are you sure? Cause I'm pretty sure you could have," Caroline said, obviously annoyed by your arguing.
"Can we not do this right now, Care. Please?" You asked.
"Fine, but we're talking about it later," she said, and you nodded.
"Sure, whatever," you replied, as you got closer to your destination. You let the radio music fill the silence that resulted from the conversation you and Caroline had just had. Finally, you pulled up and you unbuckled and went to get out.
"Wait, wait, don't go so fast there, Y/n," Caroline said, grabbing your arm, "Be careful, I'm going to keep an eye on you from afar. I won't let Klaus hurt you."
"Care, if I thought Klaus was going to hurt me, I wouldn't have come tonight," you said, "I trust him."
"How? Y/n, he's just going to end up hurting you," Caroline said.
"Look Caroline, I get it. He's done terrible, awful things to you and your friends, but I think that there's more to Klaus than we think there is. He's not heartless, I know that much. Now let me be free for one night," you said.
"Fine," Caroline said, letting go of your arm, "One night. I love you, be safe."
"Love you too, thank you," you replied, smiling at her, and getting out of the car. You walked through the doors and went into the ball. You immediately began looking around for Klaus, and after a moment you found him. He stared at you for a moment, as if amazed by your appearance. You began walked towards him, offering him a small smile. Klaus gave you a smirk in return.
"Hello love," he said, when you reached him.
"Hello Klaus, you look rather handsome," you said, smiling at him.
"You look stunning, the dress fits you well. Can I offer you a drink?" He questioned.
"I'd love a drink," you replied, walking with him as he brought you with him to get you a glass of wine. He handed you it and you smiled, as you began talking.
"This is a lovely place, the decorations are amazing," you complimented, looking around.
"That's very sweet of you to say, I'm glad you like it," Klaus said, smiling. You two continued your conversation, before Elijah announced that first dance would be happening soon.
"Shall we?" You asked, holding out your arm to your hybrid date.
"We shall," Klaus said, taking your arm and leading you onto the dance floor. You two began dancing, along with everybody else.
"Caroline is staring," Klaus commented, staring back at your sister, who stood off to the sidelines.
"She doesn't like this, not one bit," you said, glaring at her.
"I could tell, is she always like that?" Klaus questioned.
"Like what? Controlling? Overprotective? Demanding?" You asked, causing Klaus to chuckle.
"I was going to say worried, but I guess those work too," he said, causing you to laugh as well. Suddenly you were spun out of his arms and into another's.
"Hello darling," Kol said, smirking at you.
"Hello," you said, "I don't know too much about you. Klaus' brother, right?"
"Yes, and you're the blonde's sister, right?" Kol asked.
"Yes, also her name is Caroline, mine is Y/n," you said.
"I know, Klaus has mentioned you quite a few times," Kol said.
"Has he now?" You asked.
"He has," Kol responded, "Seems to fancy you quite a bit."
"I could tell," you said, glancing over at Klaus who was dancing with another girl now. The dance ended and you were by yourself again. You looked around and saw Klaus chatting with somebody else, so you took this as an opportunity to head outside. As you walked, you saw a horse and decided to pet it. As you pet the white horse, you vented to it, about your issues.
"Nobody else willing to listen, love?" Klaus asked, from behind you.
"I didn't ask anybody else," you replied, before turning to face him, "But I'm sure if I did they wouldn't of wanted to listen."
"So, you like horses?" He questioned.
"I adore horses," you replied, still gently petting the horse on the head.
"Have you even owned one of your own?" He asked.
"No, but I'm sure you have. You've been alive a thousand years, there is no way you haven't owned a horse," you said, turning your full attention back to him.
"I have, my father hunted me for a thousand years, and the closest he ever came was when he killed my favorite horse. He severed it's neck with a sword as a warning," Klaus explained.
"That's terrible," you said, the sympathy apparent in your voices.
"Yes, well, I got over it," Klaus said, "Would you like to head back inside, it's a bit chilly out here."
"Oh, are you not willing to offer me your suit jacket to keep me warm? And here I thought you actually liked me," you said, faking offence, crossing your arms.
"Playing the victim card? Are we now, love?" He asked.
"Yes sir, that's exactly what I'm doing," you said, smirking.
"Well, I happen to know you don't get cold," Klaus said, "You're a vampire."
"Really? I didn't know that," you said, faking amazement.
"Alright, now you're being too sarcastic. Let's go inside," Klaus said, grabbing your arm, and dragging you back into the building. You were soon dragged into a room, with a painting, with drawings placed in front of it.
"This is one of my passions," Klaus explained.
"Wait, you did these?" You questioned, looking over the drawings.
"Yes, do you like them?" He asked.
"Yeah," you replied.
"Actually, one of my landscapes is hanging at the the Hermitage, not that anyone would notice. Have you even been?" He asked.
"No, Caroline barely lets me leave the house on my own," you replied.
"Well, I'll have to take you sometime, anywhere. Rome? Paris? Tokyo?" He said, laughing a bit, you laughed in response.
"Sounds like fun, I'm in," you said.
"Alright, let me know when Caroline lets you leave the house without a bodyguard," Klaus said.
"Yeah, I will," you said, "But I better get going, it's getting late."
"Would you like me to walk you to your car?" Klaus asked, and that was when you realized. Caroline probably wasn't ready to go yet, and she was your ride there.
"Um, actually, do you think I could maybe have a ride home?" You asked quietly, a bit nervous. Klaus chuckled in response, before speaking.
"Don't sound so nervous, love. Of course, I'll drive you, follow me," he said, before you stopped him.
"Wait, let me say bye to Caroline," you said, and he nodded, ready to follow you. You went back to where everyone was and you listened carefully, before hearing and seeing her talking to somebody while drinking some wine. Klaus spotted her too, and went first, clearing a way for you to walk through the people. Finally, you arrived and Caroline looked at you.
"Hey Y/n," she said, smiling at you, before looking to Klaus and giving him a look of disgust, "Klaus."
"Lovely to see you too, Caroline," Klaus spoke, trying to be friendly she scoffed before turning to you.
"Did you need something?" She asked.
"Yeah, I just wanted to tell you that Klaus is driving me home," you informed her, and her overprotective mode was immediately activated.
"No, no way am I letting that happen. He'll kill you or kidnap you or do something horrible," Caroline said, not even giving Klaus a chance.
"Caroline, if I may, I do not intend on hurting your sister, even in the slightest. And I can assure you, if she goes with me, she will have a safe return to your home," Klaus said, trying to convince your sister.
"No, I don't trust you," Caroline said.
"But I do," you spoke up, causing Caroline to look at you, "I trust Klaus, and I don't trust people easily. And if I'm wrong then I'll never go against your wishes again."
"He could kill you and then you wouldn't have to worry about going against my wishes," Caroline replied.
"Please, Care, you said I could be free for one night, and it's still that one night," you spoke up, "Klaus is taking me home and there isn't anything you can do about it." Caroline knew she was beat and sighed.
"Fine, but keep me your phone on, with my phone number open, okay? That way if Mr. Original Hybrid, tries anything, you can call me, okay?" Caroline asked.
"Sure, whatever, bye Care. I love you," you said, before grabbing Klaus' hand and going towards the exit.
"Love you too," she called, looking worriedly at you as Klaus began leading you out the doors, and to his car. He opened the passenger door and motioned for you to get in.
"Awe, thank you, Klaus," you said, getting in and buckling. He only smiled, before closing the door and getting into his side, "Do you remember where I live?"
"Of course I do, I could never forget where somebody as pretty as you lived," Klaus said, winking as he started up the car. You blushed in response, and began playing with the bracelet he had given you a while back.
"Where'd you get this?" You questioned, starting up a conversation.
"That's a long story, but rest assured, it was worn by a princess, almost as you beautiful as you," he said, causing you to blush even more. He chuckled at this, before asking, "Not used to compliments, love?"
"Not really, Caroline doesn't like me dating," you explained.
"It doesn't seem like Caroline likes you doing anything," Klaus said, as he pulled up to your house, "Well we're here."
"We are," you said, before turning to him, "Thanks for tonight, Klaus. I had fun." He smiled in response.
"I'm glad," he said, before continuing, "I actually have a gift for you." He reached up and removed a black box with a white bow tied around it, from his dashboard. He handed it you and you smiled, before removing the bow. You opened it and saw a piece of paper, you unrolled it. It was a sketch of you petting the horse.
"When did you-" You started, but Klaus interrupted.
"While you were petting the horse, it was just a quick sketch, but you were speaking to it for quite some time," he explained. At the bottom was written a note, "Thank you for giving me a chance- Klaus" You smiled at the picture, before looking up at him. He was smiling at you, you leaned over and meant to only give him a kiss on the cheek, but he moved his face, so your kiss landed on his lips.
Your eyes opened wide in surprise, because you only planned on kissing him on the cheek, but you soon let them relax, and enjoyed the kiss. Klaus had reached up a hand to cup your cheek, and after a moment you two broke the kiss. You once again had a slight blush on your cheeks.
"Thank you, Klaus, goodnight," you said, unbuckling.
"Goodnight, Y/n. I'll see you another time," he said, smirking as you exited the car and hurried back inside.
