Harry made is way reluctantly down the hall after his shower. He dreaded meeting anyone. The fewer ties he had in America the better. He was wandering aimlessly trying to find the family room or kitchen or Jarvis, when he heard a voice, "could I help you with some directions, little Master Stark?"
Harry looked all around, not quite startled by the voice as he was used to the ghosts at Hogwarts. "Is someone there?" he asked tentatively.
"I am Jarvis. Your father built me. I can be of assistance."
"Hello Jarvis, you can call me Harry, please. Could you tell me the way to wherever everyone meets?"
"The kitchen, Master Harry. Master Stark is still on the phone, but the conversation seems to be ending. Just go down the hallway and you will end up in the kitchen. The penthouse is a very open floorpan."
Harry did as he was told and like Jarvis had told him it was completely empty. He could see into the family room from the kitchen and windows surrounded the perimeter. Harry decided to look for a cup of water. He opened a cabinet to find pots and pans, a second cabinet revealed cooking appliances, finally he found the plates, bowls and cups.
"Who are you?"
Harry jerked around quickly, startled by the novel voice. Eyes wide, he answered the newcomer, "I'm Mark. Um, Tony's my…." He stopped their not quite knowing how to describe his relationship to Tony.
"Ah Caps, I see you met Mini Me. Mini Me meet Steve Rogers"
"Hello Mr. Rogers," to which Tony snorted as both Steve and Harry looked at him in confusion.
"Oh come on, Mr. Rogers? It's the perfect name for Steve and all his do goodiness. Anyway Caps, Mark moved in today."
"A little warning would have been nice, Tony. I was unaware that you even had a child."
"I'm not a child," Harry muttered as Tony said, "We just met today. I didn't wake up knowing that I was going to be added one more to this insane household. Mark here has known for 6 months. You should blame him for the abruptness"
"I would rather blame you. Harry probably had the right idea in not telling you. What do you know about raising a child?" Harry looked at Steve Rogers in astonishment, that thought had never crossed his mind. He then looked to see his father wince and could tell he believed the man in front of him was correct.
"A. I am not a child. B. I have no clue how Tony would be as a father as I have no need of a father, but I didn't keep the information from him because I thought he wouldn't be a good father. I kept it from him because I didn't want anyone interfering in my life. Case in point he has known about me for about 4 hours and I am living with the man. For all he knows I could be a psychopath."
"Well I doubt your a psychopath, but I do want to know more about you. I don't doubt that we can take on a 15 year old kid if you do end up being a loon. Anyways, Pepper wants to meet you tonight. I'll order some pizza; I'm sure you're hungry since you didn't eat after work."
"I can cook if you have stuff here, I don't mind. Was she upset to learn about me?"
"No, I think she was more surprised than anything. I told her that you need to be tested to see what classes you should be taking, and she is going to have someone come this week. I also want to take you shopping for new clothes this week, and we need to go shopping to decorate your room. Now what do you like to do for fun Mini Me, we can do that while we wait for pizza to be delivered, you don't need to cook on your first night here?"
Harry thought about it, what did he like to do for fun that was muggle friendly. He couldn't say fly or exploding snaps, even chess wasn't exactly fun when the pieces didn't destroy each other. "I don't know, never really had much time for fun. I play chess every once in a while with a friend but I'm not exactly great at it. I'm not strategic enough"
Captain perked up, "Chess, I used to love chess! I'll be willing to help you learn more, we can get a chess board tomorrow." Tony groaned, great what a way to backfire, he tried to bond with his son and Icicle has more in common with him.
"Yes, we can definitely pick up a board tomorrow, in the mean time how about a movie night?"
"I think I would rather talk about expectations. What are your rules? What should I expect while living here?
"Rules, like bedtimes and stuff? I'm not trying to take away your freedom, I just want to get to know you. How about this, let me know if you're going out and make sure your phone is close so that I can call if needed? Other than that I think you carry on as before."
Harry looked a little apprehensive at that. "What's the matter? Is there something there you disagree with?"
"Not exactly, I just don't have a phone…"
Tony blinked. How did a 15 year old boy not have a phone. Then he thought of the library where he did most of his work, and the hovel of a place he had been living.
"Do you have a computer?" Harry shook his head no.
"Ok, I have a spare computer and phone lying around. I'll make sure to get them for you after dinner. Now, anything else you are concerned about?"
Harry smiled and shook his head, perhaps life had just become a little bit easier.
