There was a knock on the glass door; Pierce looked up from the mountain of papers on his desk to see Lucifer Morningstar enter his office. He looked back down at his paperwork as if there had been no interruption.
"Hello, darling, are you busy?" Lucifer held up a large paper bag as an olive branch, "I brought us some lunch."
"Don't call me that," Pierce told him coldly; they had fought the previous night.
It had started out as a pleasant evening; a few drinks, some kissing that led to Lucifer's shirt coming off. That's when it all went down the drain. Pierce had asked about the scars on Lucifer's back and he had explained about cutting his wings off repeatedly. That had led back to their usual argument; that Pierce didn't need to die because he wasn't alone anymore and Pierce still being fairly determined to die. They had spent a lot of time lately going around in circles with this particular discussion.
Ever since the first night they went to bed together. Lucifer was adamant that they should be together; they were both immortal, it would piss off the big man upstairs, and Lucifer had discovered that he had feelings for Pierce while they were uncover as a married couple. Pierce, however, was on the fence; he had been trying to die for centuries, he had lived through everything, seen everything, done everything, what was left for him? If he and Lucifer didn't work out he'd be back to alone and immortal anyway, and dying would be a good middle finger to the heavens. They both really wanted God to get the message. Although, he had felt a spark of something he hadn't felt for longer than he cared to remember, and he felt it for the Devil. He hadn't told Lucifer yet though, it was just causal sex for now, until Pierce could decide what he really wanted and what Lucifer's true intentions were.
None of that stopped Lucifer from trying, "A different pet name perhaps? 'Stud muffin?'"
"Lucifer," The word came out through clenched teeth, "I'm not in the mood for...you."
The smile slid off of Lucifer's face, "I thought having a bit of lunch together might be good after our disagreement last night. C'mon, it's from your favourite Japanese restaurant," he shook the bag a little indicating that was what was inside.
The lieutenant's stomach rumbled and he rolled his eyes, "Fine, I'll eat because I'm hungry, not because we are done with our argument."
Lucifer sighed like his heart felt heavy, "When will you realise I can give you everything you desire, everything you think you can't have."'
"I don't want to discuss this at work. Sit down and eat or leave me be," Pierce told him.
The Devil chose to sit and eat. Pierce stayed at his crowded desk to eat instead of joining Lucifer on the two seater fabric couch, he rifled through his paper work while shovelling down the food.
"Marcus…" Lucifer started, but he was interrupted by another knock on the door.
"Come in," Pierce called out.
The door opened and Detective Chloe Decker entered the room, "Sorry to disturb your lunch, Lieutenant, but we just got a call. Suspected double homicide, but the bodies weren't the only thing found, a lot of departments are being called in, thought you might want to be there."
Pierce was already out of his chair, jacket in hand by the time Chloe had finished her sentence, "Thank you, I'll leave immediately," he left the room without another word or backwards glance.
"Coming Lucifer?" the Detective threw over her shoulder at the moping Devil on the couch.
"Of course," he replied attempting to appear less like a kicked puppy.

Chloe was not wrong; every department seemed to be at the crime scene, it was swarming with people. Lucifer and the Detective walked straight up to the two bodies where Ella was already at work and she brought them up to speed on the situation, the information was probably important too, but Lucifer wasn't listening, he was glancing around for Pierce.
"What's wrong with you?" Chloe questioned him; she noticed he was more distracted than normal.
He only half acknowledged her, "Where's Pierce?" Lucifer was still looking around and then finally spotted him at the far end of the scene. There were lots of people milling around, it seemed like they were setting up equipment.
Chloe just stared at him in disbelief as Lucifer made a bee line to the Lieutenant.
The muscles in Pierce's arm moved under his skin as he directed two uniforms somewhere. The movement caught Lucifer's eye as he walked towards him, it sparked a flash back to watching those muscles tense as a strong hand gripped Lucifer's throat and brought him to climax. A flush of heat went through his body. 'This is a crime scene,' Decker's voice in his head reminded him. He took a steadying breath, pulled himself together and continued over to Pierce.
As he made it to the Lieutenant, Lucifer noticed something glinting out of the corner of his eye. He turned and saw something even he, as a celestial being, had never seen before.
"What is that?" Lucifer asked out loud, his face showed uncertainty and wonder.
"I was about to ask you the same thing," Pierce replied, he meandered over to stand next to the Devil.
"This is not celestial, I've never seen anything like it, it does give off an odd energy though," Lucifer edged closer to the glistening orb of splintering light, hand outstretched. He was unsure whether he should touch it or not.
"Don't touch it, Lucifer; you don't know what it could do!" Pierce told him sternly.
Lucifer turned and looked back at him, "Concerned about my well-being, Marcus?"
Pierce sighed in anguish, "Don't start this now."
The Devil could only take so much, even from someone he had deep feelings for. It made him a little reckless, and so he strode wholly into the unknown without hesitation and disappeared from sight.
Marcus' face dropped, his stomach tensed and he rushed forward, "Lucifer!"
The Lieutenant started to panic a little, and then Lucifer's smug handsome face popped back through the light, "Well come on then, it's perfectly safe."
Pierce stared in disbelief for a moment until the head was gone again and then he sprang into action. He pointed to a fresh pair of uniforms, "You two stand right here in front of this and do not let anyone else near it. Inform Detective Decker of what has happened."
The uniforms nodded; they were too new to do anything other than follow a direct order, and then Marcus followed the Devil into the unknown.
