Green Tea Afterlife

DISCLAIMER: Kōhei Horikoshi owns Boku no Hero Academia, not me. I do own my original character/myself Sekai Ishtal.

AUTHOR'S NOTE: Yeah… it's IzuOcha, but… it's got a dark ghostly twist to it. I'm doing an experiment here. If I am to name this particular alternative universe idea, I would call it Afterlife Heroes.

"Izuku?"

A boy wearing a middle school gakuran uniform glances to his right.

"Hm? Yes, Ochako?"

A girl wearing a middle school sailor fuku uniform glances to her companion, before she points off to a certain direction.

"It's moving again."

"Oh?" The boy follows her finger point and concentrated for a moment. He then nods. "I see…"

They gazed across the cityscape, the sunlight slowly fading and casting the hues of red, orange, pink, and indigo across the skies.

"Shall we give chase, then, Ochako?"

A soft nod and grunt of acknowledgment. "Yeah. Let's go, Izuku."

They leap into the air and float off fast towards the same direction, until they finally come across what it is that they were searching for.

It was a creature of nightmares. Commonly called a demon.

The freckle-cheeked boy with fluffy green hair gazed at the creature with emerald eyes, the thing finished with devouring the floating sphere of fiery-looking energy – a soul. The mutilated corpse of the soul's former cadaver was lying in the alley. The girl with the long auburn hair in a bob cut style and pale blush stickers on her cheeks narrowed her cinnamon brown eyes.

"Finally found you, creature," Ochako hissed.

It turned its head to them, and shrieked an unholy cry. Its claws enlarged and it lunged at them. The two dodged easily, as green and pink flames swirl from their hands, before manifesting forth katanas. Gripping the weapons, green and pink wisps began to flow from the corners of their eyes. They blocked the claw strikes, and both retaliate with firm slash attacks of their own. They scored lucky cuts on the demon, but it was very stubborn in going down.

"Hey, Ochako, we should up our skill," Izuku called to her.

Ochako nods. "Yeah! Right behind you, Izuku!"

Izuku rushed at the demon with a battle cry, Ochako following after with her own battle shout. The demon roars, launching fireballs from its twisted gnarled mouth, but the dodge and cross the distance. Their blades draw green blood from the creature roaring in pain. They slashed several more times, weaving through its attempts of clubbing at its prey. They split from each other and dash at the creature at the same time from opposite directions, black swords glinting dangerously. They cleave through the air, and cross-cut through its neck, lopping off the head. It lets out a death cry as it burst into black flames and disintegrate into a pile of brimstone and ash blowing into the wind. They look to the floating ash as the wind erased its existence. The eye wisps fade and their swords disappear in a burst of green and pink flame.

"You okay, Izuku?"

"Lightly winded. I'm fine, Ochako."

She smiles. "I'm glad."

The two young teen spirits leapt up, and land on the roof of the building. It would only be a matter of time until the cadaver was found and the living swarm it and secure the crime scene. Too bad they'll never find his killer; they already killed the one responsible.

"To think… it's only been a year since we've woken up like this… ever since… our…"

Ochako reached over and grabbed Izuku's hand firmly with her hand, and gave a squeeze.

"I know… who'd have known the afterlife was more complicated, huh?"

For Izuku, born quirkless, ending his life via suicide and then 'waking up' with a black sword in hand. For Ochako, born with a quirk that allows her to remove gravitational pull from whatever she touches, dying when she saw Izuku dive off the roof of a building but did not see the truck speeding down the street until it was too late in her attempt to save the boy. Like the boy she failed to save, she would 'wake' with a black sword in her hand.

Basically, they learned through trial by fire, harnessing the power of their swords, and the spiritual fire that now resided from within their ghostly forms, until the third month of being acquainted with one another met someone who was just like them. A man named Sekai Ishtal. Only pure souls tend to 'wake up' with the power to defend the mortal realm from the monsters and demons that lurk in the darkness of the other realms that try hard to splinter the barrier that shields the living from the hellish realms that want to burn it. Even if Izuku had committed suicide, even if Ochako's death was purely accidental, their souls still were pure when they were still living.

Izuku and Ochako fell into step with their new roles post death. Both had the desire to become heroes when they were alive. Now, in the afterlife, they were still following their dreams, only now it's to be the heroes that protect the living from the creatures that lurk in the dark.

"Ochako?"

"Hm?"

Izuku gently caressed her cheek with a hand, smiling to her. She smiles back, cupping his hand with hers.

"Today's the day of… our passing…"

"Yeah. I know. I saw someone dive off the roof and all I could think was saving that falling boy. My legs… they moved. I ran as fast as I could…"

"It still hurts that my life was horrible because I was quirkless in life. But… I'm still glad that someone out there in the living realm wanted to save me. I'm just sad that my hero died trying to save me."

"I couldn't save you, but we're together in death and I will never leave you, Izuku."

"I know, Ochako. I know." Izuku chuckled. "That's why I fell in love with you."

Ochako blushed, her spirit feeling aflutter.

"If we were still alive, I have no doubt we'd still have gotten together. Only we'd grow old together and eventually raise a family while juggling our Pro Hero lives…"

They moved closer to each other.

"Until our souls no longer exist, this is my solemn vow, Izuku, that I'll be tied to you until the end of time."

"And this is my solemn vow, Ochako, that my soul will be entwined to yours, and not even the cruelest of demons can split us apart."

Ochako sighs blissfully.

"Oh, Izuku… I love you…"

Izuku had the biggest smile on his face.

"I love you too, Ochako…"

The two forever fourteen and thirteen year olds closed the gap and kiss passionately. They had possessive holds on each other as they softly moan in their kiss, which deepened. They were even tonguing each other's mouths, swapping saliva.

"Wow, it's like watching two seals fight over a grape."

They break their kiss and turn their heads over to a young man in his early thirties with dark unruly hair, vivid purple eyes, with a light skin complexion, wearing clothes reminiscent of early 18th century Japan.

Izuku casts an annoyed glare. "Do you mind? We're in the middle of making out."

"Get a room at a love hotel," says Sekai in a sassy retort.

The two kids each brought up a hand, middle fingers extended.

Suddenly a deafening cry rings in the air.

Sekai sighs.

"They never rest."

Izuku and Ochako share a chaste kiss before they start floating off in the direction of the devil's cry. Sekai follows suit of the two teens.

They were Afterlife Heroes.

It was their duty to protect the living world.

And they'll fight until their souls ceased to exist.

Yes. This was an experimental idea that came to me. I just typed away and this is where I ended it. I know it's a bit short, but I like these sudden prompt ideas when they hit me like one of All Might's Smash attacks whilst wielding Thor's hammer.

So, what do you think? Interesting? Weird? Wondering if I'm on drugs or sumthin?

The answer to that last one is no, BTW. .*:゚(`・ω・´)ゝ゚:*.
